Hi everyone,
New here and just got a MT2 in trade from usmcpunk. Didnt have a body so I put this one on it, only my 4th time painting. It looks blue in the pic but it is really pearl purple. Where can I get aluminum parts besides ebay? My lhs doesnt have a lot of parts for this even the plastic ones. I also tried my local hobbytown but forget about them for any parts that arent traxxas. I am also currently building a MT from the spares that came with the trade, should be in a few months most parts I ordered should be in and I will have it up and running (crossing fingers). That is if I can talk [sm=cry_smile.gif] my wife into letting me buy a radio sytem for it. I also have a slayer and it is dissapointing compared to stadium trucks. Handling isnt the greatest and it flips EASY on turns. That might be my next project to upgrade suspension and wheels to make it handle like a stadium. I regret buying it and should have just bought a stadium from the begining. I do have to say the slayer can take a beating! The only problems I have had is the steering servo internal gears have stripped 2x on me and the front stub axle carriers have cracked so I upgraded to a heavier duty one and havent had any problem since. This is my first HPI and am very impressed with this. It is one heck of a fun truck!

kargi which engine are you running in that? 16t might still be too high. You might want to go with the 15.

kantfunkshin the body looks great. Which body is it?
What alum parts are you looking for? Depending on the parts you might want to stay with plastic since it flexes and doesnt bend like the alloy will. As for the slayer, I just read an article in RC Driver about the suspension and some suggestions on how to make it handle better. Seems to be exactly what you just described. You might want to check it out. The slayer is 1/8th or 1/10th? Oh and welcome aboard!

It is the DSX-2 body. As far as alloy parts that I want, pretty much anything except the A-arms and maybe the shock towers. I am pretty sure the slayer is 1/10th scale. Thanks for the info on the article in RC Driver I will chack on that soon.

hi guys will 16 bell fit with 49 spur, or what is the best ratio for top speed (how many mph will be difference)? thanks
You can all ways go to a 47 spur. But there is such a thing as over gearing. A lot has to do with what engine you are running. Have not been here in a while so I thought I would stop in and say hello.

Ebay is your best bet for getting alum. parts. I had almost all of them cept the a-arms and shock towers.

Hi 46u, long time.

kargi, I believe gpm has the most alloy parts for the mt2 you are going to find. Do an ebay search and you should get a pretty good hit. there is a seller named barratt3281 on ebay that has a lot of mt2 stuff as well and hes good to deal with.

Well just purchased a few parts I have been watching for a few days on Ebay. Payed $26.50 for all 5 parts and I dont have to pay shipping since the seller is in the same city (already spoke with him about shipping prior to it ending). I got purple aluminum rear upper tie rods, purple aluminum front shock tower, purple aluminum front shocks, heavy duty front cvd's, and heavy duty center cvd's. Now all I need is the clutch and flywheel assembly to come in that I ordered a few days ago and a radio sys and it should be ready to go.

I've owned a secondhand mt2 since june. Im still a bit of a n00b but ive been doing a lot of reading on forums and asking old timers questions. Im on my second differential gear. I know the mt2 has been around for awhile and this is a well known problem with the mt2 (I had no idea when i bought it). I was just wondering there was any time proven solution to the stripping? I read about the ball differentials and the HD gears, which is the best? Also I feel like the 15 engine is too weak, and the clutch is def garbage. should i get the G3 or the 18ss? whats a good clutch upgrade? Any other mods you may feel are critical please let me know. I want to upgrade, but i want to do it right. Thanks to any mt2 pros with advice. Im sure this has been asked before.

Hi jlsmith1105 , and welcome to the forum.
The best solution for the diff stripping is upgrading to the HD gears and properly shimming them. Check out this link on how to do it. http://www.kedar.itgo.com/tipz.html#diff
The G3 and 18ss are basically the same except for the crank. If you are looking for more speed and HP you'd be better off with an O.S. .18 or even an LRP Z.18S.
I upgraded mine to a 2 shoe composite clutch. Alum shoes would be even better. You can also get the HPI racing clutch.
The only other upgrades I would say you really need to do would be the alum steering mod and a tuned pipe.

Well.... winter has arrive up here in Canada, today we got 3" of snow, and the temperature is about 2-3C, next week -8C.
With these weather conditions is time to put away the MT2 for the season.

I decide it since I can drive it around, to turn it into a Street Racer to see what it would look like.

This week I took it all apart cleaned it and modded it a bit, too bad I can't test it to see if the mods will make the car any faster.
I decided to port the air filter and the .18TZ intake, making the air filter opening 2mm wider to match the .18TZ ported intake.
At the same time got rid of the intake tube that connects the air filter and the engine intake, by putting a smaller adapter where the
air filter is connected right to the intake of the engine.
some pics below for you guys to see what I mean.

Bought low profile tires for the MT2 with a Street Racer Body, pics for the Wheels and Body will be posted in a couple of days.

Im in mississauga, we didnt even get a snowflake.....how did u get 3 inches?

I hope you took the carb off to port the intake last thing you want is metal shaveing inside the motor.

You should just wait till there is an "okay" day out and see if your mods improve the truck at all. I wouldnt worry about snow i bashed mine all winter last year. Just clean it after and oil the bearings and dry it.

Vinnie you are running a 2 speed? What gearing are you using? Do you have any problems with it shifting with the small block?

Yes I do have a 2-speed tranny on it, I'm using 13/16 47/44.
It shifts on the fly, no problems what so ever, top speed 56mph.

No problems on take off at all? Does it bog down in the dirt? I might have to try that clutch bell then. My gearing was too high for the small block and it was a dog. I put the BB in and it shifts fine now but its a little hard to control with the extra power. Plus I think its wreaking havoc on the drive train.

I've tried numerous gearing, to many to keep track, I find this to be the best one.
It has enough power to make all wheels spin on take off, when I'm on the top of 1st gear, and press full throttle all wheels are spinning when it changes to 2nd gear.
My goal was to make the MT2 crack the 60mph.
I've been to busy this summer to play around with it, not counting I just bought a home, and the money has been going to the home.

I'm hopping to give it another run to see if the mods above will increase top speed or not.

Cool. Thanks for the info. With that clutch bell you need the needle bearing right?
