Looked at HPIs site in japan on the Savage 5T according to the dimensions its actually slightly narrower than the XL and X

So in all truth from what I see the only thing needed to convert a X or XL over would be the Bajas tires, the longer TVPs, a longer wire for the throttle control, and the one drive shaft.

Currently I'm getting the japanese manual to see what else is different part # wise but the japanese site is slow as hell.

(edited to upload the 5t's parts list)

Just for fun I played around with the .15FE sleeve.
Didn't look like there was a whole lot that could be done, but I now know I have a steady hand with the dremel.[8D]

Before

After

Likely this engine will be replaced, but may be sent into Ray A for a pinch just because it's so cheap and the bearings are still good.

LOL...
Hay! You don't be talkin about my woman like that now!
That was her thumb, I was driving and the guy pictured when the cam was facing left.
Actually I have been lucky enough to bash with a couple guys I have met on R/C forums.
Both of the guys were really cool and I even met one guy out of town and he hosted me at his house for a couple days.
Good times.

Check the dowel pins on the flywheel. I just put an OS .18 engine in mine, the dowel pins are pulling out and jammimg against the bell.

Keith, where are you getting the GPM stuff from??
[/quote]
ORIGINAL: KeithjV

I got my GPM stuff on ebay from rc mega outlet this last time.

wongy take some pictures of the engine, clutch and spur. It could be that you are running too lean as well and when the engine temps get up too high you are losing power. Check the temps. If you can make a video that might help too
its quite frustating.

i guess it could be the pins jamming as sometime the engine wont idle and sounds like a really bad miss fire

i also found out that it always happeens when running the car on grass.

i have no problems whatsoever running tank after tank on the streets or gravel. just short grass. i mean 1" long grass.

ill try get some pictures off it soon as im due to strip the car down for maintenance ive already ran 1 gallon of fuel through it. its still awesome although the niggly issue with the lose in drive

To find GPM stuff easy go to ebay and enter "GPM MT2" (- quotation marks) as a search query and boom every GPM item will be brought up.

I find RCmegaoutlet is a pretty good seller on ebay I've ordered a fair amount off him and always get it fairly fast with decent shipping prices

Or you can use his site (just found a sticker he sent with my orders that has his link on it) [link=http://www.rc-mall.net/productlist_acc.php?brand=hpi&type=mt2&page=2]rc-mall.net MT2 stuff[/link] Page 2-6 is mostly GPM stuff

Personally I'd prefer ebay cause sometimes you can find it cheaper from other sellers

It took me about 2 hours total thats with taking the engine apart porting it doing some block work smoothing things out, matching the intake valve in the crank under the carb exactly the same shape as the opening in the block under the carb, rounding out the intake valve in the crank, rounded the shark tooth shaped "boost" things on the crank into the crank instead of it being a sharp edge and polished everything a bit and I added a small amount more taper to the bottom of the sleeve then I cleaned everything lubed it up and put it all back together.

I think its time you make a video of how to do all that.
How much of a power difference do you think you'll get?

You know man thats not a bad idea I will make a vid next time I do an engine up a bit. I dont know if it will even run lol kidding. The power will be a bit more on the high end but not alot on the low end. Every nitro I have worked on became a screaming high rpm monster but not alot changed on the low end. I think you have to mess with shimming up the sleeve to change the port timing and mess with how long the intake valve is open and when it opens. If I had some of that red putty stuff that they use in the cranks I would take a junker engine and mess with that but for now ill stick with the basics. I want to get more torque out of my engines not high rpm.... but thats hard to do. Ill post the pics on a couple mins I dont have much for before pictures but ill find some on the net.

My CEN 7.7 GST arrived today! I am pretty happy with it. It came with a huge box of spare parts that were brand new - more than enough to finish my other one. I will post pictures of both trucks to give an update when I get a chance - work has been hell the past two months and my evenings are all used up.

so i have a mt1 that has a k4.6 and a 2 speed. i recently gave my 2 speed to my little brother in law because i got a brand new one off ebay for dirt cheap, and the new one isnt shifting for some reason. i think the shift setting is waay off since the 2 speed is off a rs4. can anyone tell me how to adjust the shift setting on it? the first one was already set up when i got it so i have no clue on how to do it.

You have to adjust the screw in the center of the 2 gears. Spin the gears till you see the opening in the cover. Turn the screw to the right for a later shift and to the left for an earlier one. My guess is if it came off a .18 engine set up and you are running it on a .28 now. then its probably shifting right to 2nd because of the increased power of the larger engine. Hold the truck off the ground and accelerate slowly and see when it shifts. Then you'll know for sure which way you have to adjust it.
