I quess I dont understand. My truck and the guys I run with cant tell if they are getting low on fuel. maybe we are talking about two defferant things. I mean when the tank has a few drops left well yes of course I can tell it might sputter and lean up for a split second before it dies. but I cant see how there is a defferance between a full tank or a tank that is 1/4 or 1/8 full. the tank is pressureised on a constant pressure. which means constant fuel flow. if an air bubble does happen to get in the line once it reaches the spray bar it will blow out so fast it wont make a defferance. unless it is a big air pocket or a bunch of them in a row.

dalolyn, You are right that with 1/4 to 1/8 tank you should have a fairly stable fuel supply unless you flip it. My comments are based on just before the tank runs dry so you can get out of the throttle and not have a lean run under load as it quits running.
46u, that is exactly what I was thinking about. Now I know where to get one and I can stop carrying a rag in my pocket when I turn marshall 1/8 scales and they are broke.

What on earth would make anyone with a brain stick their finger on a flywheel to stop a engine? Hell pinch the damn line the 2 seconds it runs lean don't hurt crap and at least you'll have all your fingers left....same people stuffing fingers into flywheels are the same tards who stop metal bladed fans with their tongues....I'd love to see one of them stop my monster buggy with their finger, matter a fact I'd pay to see it and provide a nice cooler full of ice for their severed finger and a free trip to the hospital to get the stump sewed up
Anyone saying stick your finger in a flywheel is a idiot plain and simple and their advice shouldn't be followed.

Nice generalization.... You'll never stop any of my BBs like that but smallblocks absolutely could be without any danger. I keep a tiny tuning screwdriver on me when I run and use the plastic end to stop the flywheel. Although I do this with big and small blocks, I have stopped most of my smallblocks at one point or another with a finger and no incidence (ie no pain or even a mark).
Nobody here told anyone to stop a big-block (or your "monster buggy engine"); this is a ST forum and a ST thread. These trucks for the most part ALL come with/run small blocks.
Perhaps I am an idiot, but I know that the word 'an' must precede idiot, not an 'A'.

i run my truck slightly rich, so when it comes to the time when the fuel is runnin out i can clearly hear a difference in the engine. it leans out cos i get better performance for about 4 seconds

I used a paper clip on my GT and threw the arm out the window that way i can slam on the brakes without killing the engine bc the paper clip wont tear the carb arm off or close it all the way. it shouldnt close all the way anyways, it doesnt. I just disconect the fuel line from the tank very simple and when it dies i just put it back on, alot better then just pinching the line or taking the air filter off (if yours has zip ties like mine). Seems to work well as for not killing the engine or tearing the carb arm off. as for killing the engine. I WOULD not cover the Tuned pipe as someone said it can break your con rod from the mass amounts of fuel raming into the carb causeig it to have a nice little burst of speed Which leaves a nice burn on your arms from the tires spinning out when your holding it.
Trust me it doesnt always work The way you planed... I should know [&o]

I used to pinch the fuel line all the time until i decided to put my thumb over the exhaust stinger one day when the body was on. Stopped MUCH quicker, and was easier to do. I pinch the fuel line when I have the body off, but its practically impossible when its on.
You don't need a special tool, just use a thumb, its stops fast enough that it won't burn you.

Big difference is they don't tell you in the manual not to do 20 foot jumps either. They do however warn against stupid things such as stopping a flywheel with your finger. And besides a 20 foot jump won't harm you unless your jumping it into yourself and the person asking the question is a newbie not good advice to give to someone new is to jam their finger into the flywheel, pinching the fuel line isn't going to ruin your engine I do it all the time and have yet to ruin an engine from it and sorry but I earn my living fabricating composites and sheet metal for f-16 aircraft and isn't no way I'm losing my job cause I lost a finger from jamming it into a flywheel cause I couldn't spend time to read the manual. I own a Savage/Revo/T-Maxx/Jato/Evader/Xcell and 3 different 1/6th scale gasers and none of the nitro manuals mention sticking a finger into the flywheel matter a fact all the traxxas ones are equiped with a fuel line pinch and the savage routes the fuel line behind the rear bulkhead for easy shut down by pinching it.

A 12 or 15 with a wide flywheel and a low idle is so easy to stop with a touch because it does not have any power. If you are trying it with a larger engine, a thin flywheel or a high idle speed then you deserve what you get.
If you can't shut off an engine by blocking the exhaust you need to fix all the leaks.
If you think plugging off the exhaust to stop the engine floods the engine with fuel, well.........nothing I type will change your mind.
Pinching off the fuel like is still my favorite way to stop and engine, just not always possible.
