You mean when I try to start it or the ugly sound it makes when I roll it?

Both, if its ugly then you may need to rebuild the diff.

I am having a problem. My x-cellerator will start but the car won't go. When I give full throttle the car we only move slowly. If I hold the car in place on the ground and give it throttle, the spur doesn't turn but I can hear the engine rev up high like normal. It does look like that piece is spinning (flywheel?) that can be seen from underneath the car through that slit in the chasis. The diff is tightened all the way.

It happened after driving it around my backyard off of the porch and through the rough grass.
Could this be a problem with the clutch?
Okay I have removed the clutch bell and flywheel. The clutch spring is intact and just fine. Once again when the engine revs up, at open throttle the clutch bell and the spur do not spin. If I spin them manually, the tires will spin along with them so it isn't the diff.

Maybe the clutch shoes are very worn or the CB wall is glazed.

what do you mean when you say the clutch bell wall might be glazed?

also, I opened the clutch bell and on the inside found a lot of metal shavings. Is this normal? could one of the bearings in the clutch bell be bad?

also, when I now tighten the clutch nut, the clutch bell will not spin without the engine turning over also. If I move the car on the ground it is hard to move it and I can hear the engine make a rotation (that soft puff sound). Should the clutch bell be able to move independently from the engine piston?

The bearing must have blew. Check it out. Get some pics of the whole clutch assembly.

That actually happened to me right away too. It was the clutch bearing, just get a new one and you should be fine. I haven't had a problem since. That is a very high wear part.

okay I think it is fixed now. The inner part of the flywheel looked worn down and it had a bigger opening now than the new flywheel I just purchased. Now with the clutch nut tightened, the clutch bell will spin without the engine turning over.

I have a few questions
1) should I apply loctite to the clutch nut and screw it on really tight?
2) has anyone else had problems with the flywheel that comes on the x-c? Is there a higher quality flywheel that will fit the x-c?
3) should I apply loctite to the 3 hex screws that hold the pull start in place (they screw into metal but they also go through and touch the plastic pull start case)?

The size is American (SAE I guess) all of my TTR Metric tools don't fit but some do.

1. hell yes
2. no
3. Hell yes i currently only have one pull start screw and two wires that hold it in place. And since when does xtm have poor quality trucks? And what does bolt sizes have to do with quality.

Got no problems with the XTM's I sell But I put kits together and sell them that way. The .28 truck engine is a screamer and stays together very well. I have 3 customers with the x-c's that love the OS18 in them. Sit back Traxxas [:'(] LOL

Well, for anyone who hasn't seen my thread in the electric section I was thinking about converting my x-cell or buying an electric but I think i'm going to stick it out with the nitro for now.

rclynx-what electric setup were you driving? Some 1500mah Ni-Cd and a Pirannah I suppose.

theskyisfalling-again, look for my threads.

What thread should I read????? That tells me about an electric that isn't limited by heat and the heat is regulated by time if you want to go fast. Electric is in some cases faster than the Nitro cars but in no way can they have the staying power of a Nitro car. If you want to make a smart remark and get away with it then make it to a dumb person Oh and by the way the fastes boat on the water in RC class is 140 mph and the Nitro is a way back there at I think about 117 mph. I don't like electric but I sure got to respect it. THATS FAST [sm=punching.gif]

I got a question, when I was running my car today it was extremely slow, like 5-10 MPH slow, it is not tuned but I dont think that would make it that slow. What do you think?
