hey bigstang
Are differential carbide balls and carbide thrust balls worth it?

could I also ask wat break in instructions did you use?

the O.S. one or the one that came with the car

when I broke in my last O.S. engine, I used a modified version of their break in. after every tank I made sure of two things.
1.) after run oil right after shut down.
2.) piston was at bottom dead center to cool for 15 minutes.
other than adding that I did it just like the book told me.

About the carbide balls. DO IT! then break them in the right way too. the way I break in the diffs are. is to do figure eight circles at slow speeds. not tight circles but not huge ones either. and if you go so far as to do the diff balls do a rebuild and add the aluminum diff gear at the same time. you won't regret it.

Last IS Bigstang thats one SWEEEEEEEEETTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT ride. gotta give it it's props.

Hey bigstang, nice lookin vader you got there. Man, I bet those chains chew up some serious landscape I think I might have asked you this a while back but where did you get the priming bulb from? I need one for my buggy, it's got a big block motor and is a bear to try and prime.

yeah it is and we just got like 2-3 inces today too. and the reason i really did it was every time i took it out when it was wet or raing or snowing the batteries wer the only thing that was really getting wet and making the servo glitch and stuff so i made sure that was water tight.
ive been running my evader all winter and i have had no problems with electronics. nothing is watter proofed. i just make sure i unplug my electronics after running of something might short

Venom: I only have the one T-Maxx that I want to sell right now. it comes with the stock radio gear. like I wrote in the add, its all parts pull from my other T-Maxxs. but the parts that were not pull off the other T-Maxxs are all new.

Clay: DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THAT SUPERCHARGER. the only thing that will do is shorten the life of your engine. end of story. I know, I wasted my money on one then had to replace the engine. as for an engine deal, e-Bay. try to get an O.S. CV-R 18. lots of power for the evader. the tune pipe that Bigstang has was discontinued about a year ago it a CVEC. you can sometimes find them on e-Bay. read back a few pages on that. I think it's on 322, maybe.

Thanks greywolf,I figured that supercharger was a piece of junk.So does the CV-R .18 really have that much more power than the stock .18?I mean its pretty fast now and im finally about 90% aluminum so i can start adding more power.Just vurious if im gonna get more M.P.H's?Also,I got a stage II performance head a while back and the damn piece of junk has a nasty leak where the glow plug is.It just bubbles and dumps fuel everywhere.Anyone seen this and can i salvage that head at all?Thought maybe it was a stripped thread in the head.

all that aluminum adds weight. BUT, the CV-R .18 should pick it right back up. as for the head? one of two things. send it back for refund. or paperweight. I can't help you on the head.

Well here is my current vader project (just started). Rebuildin the diff. and going full alum. gears and carb. balls plus rebuild kit. I wll take progress pics as I go, but for right now it's only the "before" pics. And yes, will be totally stripping the chassi and cleaning it

Oh,also put some pics of my current traxxas project, got it free from a friend,I have the pics up on the main forums for some help as to if anybody knows anything about this chassi. I was told it's about 8-10 years old, if anybody knows anything about it, please post. Wanted to see if it was even worth rebuilding. Never had a traxxas before and don't know much about them.

Finally got through reading all 329 pages. Does anyone run the Spektrum DX3 radio? I just installed it on my evader and I am having a problem. Everything worked fine when I fired the engine for the first time since late Summer. I started tuning the motor, I made a few passed fine, then all of a sudden it takes off. No brakes, no steering. When it finally stopped ( crashed wide open into the well house), neither servo would respond. After a few minutes of messing with it the trottle would start twitching. I was using brand new AA batteries. I have heard that AA's don't have enough voltage to run a digital system. I don't know. Any ideas would be appreciated.

I have a DX3. I know you said you used new batteries but your symptoms sounds like a combo of two things - 1) the batteries were low 2) the fail safe was not set up correctly. Try getting a hump pack for the truck, see if that helps. And what's the voltmeter on the transmitter reading? It should be above 9.2V.

Thanks for the info. The tx reads 12.7 volts. I plan on getting a pack tomorrow, and I'll double check my failsafe points again.
