ok. im looking into getting a stadium truck...to bash. i really like traxxas because of their reliability and part options. so this narrows me down to 2 trucks. the rustler or the jato. after running the truck for a while and getting used to it, im probably going to drop an os18tm in it that have laying around. if i was to get the jato, i would get the jato 2.5. and obviously the rustler 2.5. which would you suggest? if you have any other ideas let me know. thanks.......

I don't like rusty's, but a stock jato isn't to special either. My friend has a stock rusty and it's okay I guess. The jato probably would be better for bashing because it has better acceleration and better top speed, it also has the 2 gears which is kind of fun. If you were ever going to race you would need that OS18 for sure though.

i would recommend the evader if you wanted a basher. the evaders warranty is unbeatable because ever time you break an A-arm for example you send into duratrax. under a week later you a pack of a-arms for FREE!!![8D]. and also want you could later do is replace that A-Arm with alum. almost everything that Duratrax has under warranty is able to replace with Aluminum.

In my opinion you just cannot beat 4 wheel driver for either racing or bashing! For racing it handles much better and for bashing does not get stuck near as easy as 2 wheel drive. But it depends on how much you are welling to spend. I have both 2 and 4 wheel drive and 4 wheel is so much better I hardly ever drive my 2 wheel drive.

which 4wd would you suggest?
EDIT:
what do you think of the [link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXLMD2&P=7]GS Shadow ST1[/link]. it's 4wd at a VERY reasonable price i want to stay around 300.

man ive had many rcs.. those who say the jato cant bash just dont know! ive got a 3.3 thats so damn fast i can hardly believe it!! the thing can take a wicked beating and it drives awsome too!
i have a revo with a novarossi 528xr and i think i enjoy bashing the jato more... i think i can turn faster lap times with it too!
heres a vid of my 3.3 jato, my nova revo, and a picco 26maxx revo. tell me that jato doesnt fly and handle well?

i dont care for the evader... a buddy has one. its cute i guess, but my jato rocks its socks! for bashing a 2 speed is delux! and the suspension on the jato is awsome.

well i kind of want something "cute" because im fairly new to nitro. i bought a used tmaxx off of ebay. i made a huge mistake...i put about 600 bucks including a new engine into and ran it about 5 times before new problems occured. it needs all new servos and a whole new transmission, which is what, somewhere around 200 bucks?
i figure ill rip out the failsafe, engine and whatever else i can from it and get a new truck. thats why i think the evader is good for me. im just looking for backyard fun. maybe set up a little ramp and just have a good time. eventually ill get something bigger and better. well i guess i just answered my own question......

Avoid the Evader unless your really, and I mean REALLY good at tuning rear diff gears! The 2.5 Rustler is only good for one thing, going fast in a open area, due to its wicked accleration and major lack of handling. The JATO 2.5 is the best Basher I own, next to my Ofna LX Comp 4x4 buggy. Traxxas makes the easiest to tune and most reliable basher for the beginner. My Evader has been nothing but a nightmare since its 2nd tank of break in fuel. Ive finally went and bulletproffed the drivetrain with aluminum gears from the clutchbell to the CVD's. Now after $70+ in upgrades its turned out to be a decent machine.
Go with the JATO 2.5 Its a killer setup from the power, handling and durability of the Big names with the lil guy price tag.

Cool, another Washingtonian. Anyways, if you followed th manual's instructions, you would have never had any problems. It's not the evader,, which is great truck, its the operator.

NO, i had probs too, and I sent it in. I then listened to Snipin Willy's advice from the manual, and guess what it wroked! I might be wrong, but 90% of the time, the owner of the evader doesn't breakin the diff or tighten it like they're supposed too. [>:]
I acutally wen through 4 diff gears and 2 idlers. I know what I'm taling about. I haven't broke one in 2 gallons.

but... the jato has no problems out of the box? mine has been rockin since day one and the only things ive broken are the rear shock tower, and a rear a arm! and guess what? rpm makes indestructable arms that are warrantied....

I see where you are coming from. Mine went through the first during the 1st tank of break in, Ive run nitros for 5 years and know the proper break in procedure, tuning and upkeep. I wasnt running it hard during breakin at all, not even 1/2 throttle and the first one went out. The second went out 1/2 way through the 2nd tank of break in fuel. The manual said to snug then back off 1/8 turn. Well it was snug for 4 full turns. So I tightened it till it wiould move under power and it went out again. I sent it back and it was a defect from the factory. They installed a new trans and broke it in. I got it back and went full aluminum. RC10 GT Spur, Aluminum idler, Aluminum diff and carbide bearings. She is now a good truck to run. I was merely letting him know that if he is new to nitro, then maybe the evader isnt what he needs just yet. Adjusting the diff is a touchy process. I love mine now, she is a Bullet Proof beasty!
