Here's my latest beast, one for the wood roaches amoungst you.
She's just getting epoxied, give me a few more weeks and I'll rip into the colour and covering the wings, and you'll see what she'll look like soon enough.
currently the fuselage weighs 685g, so I'm fairly happy with the weight!

Nice plane stevepj. The wing planform looks very similar to Wolfgang Matt's Saphir.

Thank for your kind comment HankScorpio,
Yep, I think the Saphir may have had some influence on this design, DaveSmithModels still produce kits for the Saphire in a couple of sizes and I belive the SmartMove was a developement using Dave Smiths previous designs.

Here's my latest, not quite 2m, as I'm a little down on power, but scratch built and a one design.
The Haya-ji.

Hi Guys,
Here is my OXAI Pinnacle. I competed in my first pattern comp with it the weekend before last and managed to get second place in sportsman class. I also managed to freeze my gonads off! The comp was held at Queanbeyan NSW Australia and the weather was freezing. It was a great experience though and I did learn a couple of things which is the whole idea...
Power is OS 1.40RX, MPX radio, Hitec servos.
Cheers
Jason.

Hi Jeff
I am the owner of Elation Models and we construct all the parts.
Foam wing, tail, rudder, top and bottom rear deckings, glass underbelly. After being at the Nats last weekend, I am going to make a slight alteration to the wing and perhaps produce the front end in glass, matching up to a new cowl, to ease the carving required at the front.

I'm making a 110 sized plane with construction methods you just mentioned. I have the prototype built, just need to finish the composite parts. There is a real need (or at least "want" for planes of this size that really fly like pattern planes, not "pattern/3d" crap. The Focus sport over here looks pretty good, and I imagine there may be others coming soon. That would be my guess. I just want a cheap, quick built easy plane that I can practice FAI with. With the emphasis on cheap and quick without it's flying characteristics suffering.

Nice work . . looks real good.
. . and I kinda agree with with Mike . . something around 67" span is a good size. My (controversial) opinion is that the Pattern formula should be for this size plane . . would keep the cost down, and open up a few extra designs and manufacturing oportunity. Maybe not present as well in the air, but it would be the same for everyone. A comment has been that they are not as easy to judge . . perhaps open up the angle on the 'box' slightly so they can be flown closer ?? . . [sm=72_72.gif] . . dunno.

Strange, the box worked pretty well for 60 sized planes for years.
:S
Maybe the judges need to get bigger eyes.

I think we ought to shrink the Pattern formula down to 1.65 or 1.7 meter length and width.
There is no need to change the box, just fly at a real 150 M.

Dean,
I agree with you 100%......the cost difference between a 2 meter ship
and a 90/1.10 size ship is substantial. Seems like it would draw more
people into pattern if the cost was a little less, much easier to transport
also. Just look at the difference in the engine only, a YS 1.70 is over twice
as expensive as a YS 1.10.
