I would remove the bottom sheeting on the Epsilon also and yes it does stand for dual elevator pushrod system. I put my DEPS in before the sheetin and I hope to get mine already to cover before the damn next hurrican gets here Sunday AM.

Thanks for the replies. I have looked at the deps a lot and it seems to be the way to go for me. I think central hobbies is now carrying everything you need for the deps in a package. The Epsilon is going to be my winter project. TPH1, are you going to glue the outer sleeve in the pushrod exit? Guess it wouldn't have to be if supported right inside the fuse.

Hello Boys!
I've been following this forum and seen a lot of options for the Epsilon engine. Here I'm attaching a few pics of my new Electric Epsilon. This is the detailed setup:
- Hacker C50 12XL
- Controller Hacker Master 77 3Opto.
- APC-E 19x10
- Batteries 2 x TP 4S3P

I hope you enjoy the pictures!
Regards from Argentina!

I have just finalized one Epsilon as my hopefully fun and capable winterflyer. (I think we need to consider spraiyng against Epsilons on the flyingfiels next summer )
I bought the kit as opposed to the arc, because of the all-time-present lack of money, and the fact that I thought I could manage to squeeze the weight below 3 kg. Well, I could'nt !
The weight issue was related to the fact that I had an OS 70 FS lying around, and thought it could do the job. Since the pictures was taken of the airplane I mortgaged the house and bought a 91 FS II P.
The kit was bought 15 juli and that makes it the fastest kit I have ever build ! I have documented the whole building process as 3drukidding did, but it can't be done better.

I will let you know how I think the Epsilon is in the air.

Had to take out my DEPS, I hooked everything up in a trial run and they were binding somehow. Couldn't figure out why so they are out and a bellcrank is on the way.

Did you order the MK bellcrank?

I'm going to have to decide soon on which way to go for my Widebody, so this is interesting.

Thanks. I'll order the MK. A friend bought the WB 60 and will use the carbon fiber rod method, but I don't think I want to use it myself.

Seems like everyone is using pull-pull rudder on the Epsilon. Why not use a system similar to the DEPS but use only one half? Seems to me a carbon fiber pushrod in a tube would provide a very stiff control surface. Just wondering...

Is the OS 91fx really enough for this plane. I am really considering this plane as a pattern\freestyle practice model and I am really tempted by the low cost running of the OS 91fx but just don't believe it is enough.

Check the vid Foof, Marcelo uses the 91 FX usually so I'd say thats what he used in the vid.

I used the DEPS (name for reference only) for rudder and a single for elevator on a 40 size stick. Works VERY well, stiff and smooth. Just remember that the carbon rod needs to be supported straight as an arrow from servo horn to control horn. Also, don't wrap the teflon sleeve tight, just enough to keep it in place untill glued. All will be well at that point.

Foof

The 91FX is enough for this plane for hovering and smooth pattern however .. .. if you do a snap in an upline you will find the speed just totally gone and the 91fx struggles to pull the plane through.
This is why I went to the YS110
I can only assume that the 110 developes power in a different way as in a direct comparison the 91fx was pulling 9800rpm on an APC 14x8 where as the ys pulled 10,000 on an apc 15x8.

On the economy thing so far I have used less fuel per 15 minute flight with the ys 14oz tank then i have with the OS 8 minutes to a 12oz tank. This I guess is again down to the way the YS produces power.

I guess if you put a pipe on a 91fx you would be very very close to the out right power of the YS but there is no way you would have the grunt and throttle authority you have with the YS.

So Foof i guess thats the long answer to your question yes the OS is good .. .. .. .. .. but the YS is just bl***y awsome!! [sm=sunsmiley.gif]

I think I may go for the YS as I already have a 63 and the reliability is just unbelieveable. Also it's means I can just buy the same fuel all the time uinstead of two different lots.

Do you use a tuned pipe with the 110., (is there room to adapt it to one if not)

Foof

No pipe just the supplied liitle dustbin .... tank on CG and no extra weight on the tail having removed the OS.

There is room for a pipe but only just ... I suspect you will have 1/2 the pipe showing ... more tunnled in rather than cowled!! To be honest you realy dont need to go down the expesive route of pipe manifold etc K.I.S.S. theory for me!!

Can I ask where you got your kit from?

thanks

I haven't got mine yet, goning to finish my smaragd first, but this is on my wish list for the winter.
I'm condering how much it all will cost first.

I emailed CA and they said it would ship from spain. However ANSA are supposed to get some in when they start up again.

tph1

The difference is difficult to explain properly but the best way is grunt ... bit like having a lazy V8 that pulls from anywhere where as the OS is like a japanese bike engine .. .. awsome power but you have to wind it up.

The grunt comes into its own after snaps and rolls on uplines where as with the 91 fx you need to keep the engine wound up with the YS you just blip the throttle and power pulls you through!

tph1,

To echo what 3DUK was saying, it is really like night and day. The 1.10 is a real stump puller, it's amazing. I've still got an APC 15x8 on it, but I'm gonna play with props a little more here in the future. I have about 3 gallons through mine and it is just killer.

The OS is a good engine though. I designed a .91 pattern plane that I'm gonna put that in with a tuned pipe. Just for kicks...

I'd LOVE to have a Zafiro with a 110 though [>:]
