I did it this way, seems to work ok...no overheating. The cutout is about 200x32mm . I also made 4 extra holes (22mm) for good measurment
Some air will also pass in the rear end, depending om your pipe dia and how fare back your pipe is mounted .

If all goes well, tomorrow the weather should be good enough to go flying the afternoon (if it is not too windy). Hopefully I can then finalize setting up the engine, so I can really start flying. So far I find the plane very easy to fly, landings are easy as well.
If the engine runs well, I will also mount the belly pan. By the way, what system did you use for holding it to the fuse. Are you using some elastic?

did some flying this weekend, which wasn't exactly a great success. First flight was great, and a buddy flew it, taken it thru its motions, it is a very capable plane! Anyway, when revving up for the second flight, I stepped in front of the elevator, and the elevator half came off. Probably I did not glue the CA hinges correctly, so it came loose when I opened the throttle. Anyway, I think it is a good tip to pin the hinges. I did them all for sure. However, I have build many planes with CA hinges, and never had any problem.
So, Sunday flew some more, but it was very windy, so I decided to call it a day, before I would crash it.
One thing you mentioned Micromax, is that the plane floats forever when you come in for a landing. Since I did not add any weight, the plane actually is tail heavy (the CG sits around the back end of the CG-range, at 152 mm of the front end of the wing). The result is that landing is very easy (I actually come in quite high, and the plane very slowly comes in sinking easily). So you might try checking the CG while flying, but I think you should put it a bit back. Makes better flying as well!
Anyway, the 91FX with pipe has more then enough power on this plane. You can fly endless loops as big as you want to, no problem.

Hi, does anyone have any update? Flight pix or vid?
I just ordered one and am very excited to get it going.
Also, would anyone have a good US source for the bolly gear? I will be running an 18" prop and wanted good clearance.
Thanks,
Aobid

well, the YS 110 will be more than adequate power. The plane itself is well built, just always have CA handy to glue the striping back on, I think by now I have glued all of them back on
. I found the engine mounting a bit flimsy. The engine I mounted had a lot of vibration initially (later I mounted it on rubber, also the exhaust). I think if you add epoxy to all the joints you will be OK. After a not so hard landing the bottom plate where the landing gear is mounted broke out (I used the stock metal M4 screws), so now I replaced this with a thicker and strenghtened piece of wood, and replaced with M5 plastic screws.
I needed to pin the CA hinges when an elevator half broke of (see earlier in thread), never needed to do that, but you better check anyway.
Have fun, it's a great plane!

Based on my experience with the plane just reinforce the firewall and the landing gear ply and your good to go. Don't wait for them to be flimsy or broken, just go ahead with the reinforcements. Also, the striping is a slight headsche for me. Before I use to CA the striping now I just cut em.
Use mine with YS110 and it rocks. I think the os 90 will do but if you do the masters or the po5's or the po7's then you might need a pipe for the OS90 to help it in vertical manuevers or in windy situations.

hello ODD, I am flying with an OS-91 FX with tuned pipe, I choose to put the tank right behind the firewall, so no pump. I am very happy with its performance. Micromac (see earlier in thread) is flying with a 91 with pump, but he wasn't too happy sofar, he still needs some tuning of the setup. Unfortunately the flying season in Norway is about closed, so I don't think he will resume flying until after spring.
Currently I am flying the OS-91 with pipe with an APC 14x8 at 9700 rpm with 5% nitro/18% synthetic oil

Ys110 with 15x10 and 15%coolpower I get 8800-9000 rpm.
Reinforce the firewall and landing gear plate by using balsa block or triangular balsa. Just use epoxy or elmers glue. If you dont have triangular or blocks what I do is use 2-3mm balsa sheet, stack them up with your adhesive to get to around 9-10mm and cut it to your desired shape and refinforce the corners of the landing ply and the firewall.

ODD,
I just totalled my Infinity just a couple hours ago!! I was practicing P07 and in one of the inverted flights I noticed I was losing altitude and was already pushing the elev stick full but noting happened, turn it upright immediately and pulled the stick to full noting happened. It just kept losing altitude and then BAM!!!!!!! There was nothing I can do.

ODD,
Forget about the little explanation that I made regarding the reinforcement cuz it somehow didnt came out right when I posted it. I'll try to take a photo of what's left. Happy New Year! You'll love the plane I'm sure.

that's a real bummer PMR! Sorry to hear this. As you can read a bit earlier in the thread, I experienced some problems with the CA hinges (which never in my flying life happened earlier), which caused one elevator half coming of when revving the engine, and I was holding the plane, standing in front of the stab. I fixed this by extra glueing and pinning all hinges. Could you let us know what you think happened? Thanks, Volkert

Hey guys. I am interested in the ready to fly weights that you are getting on the Infinity. Anybody weighed theirs? I saw one thread from Mr. Neu on a setup that weighed 7.25 lbs. What is the weight with the YS 110?

I was just wondering if everybody is using the original set up for the belly-pan? Especially using a 2-stroke (with bigger pipe) it is quite a hassle to mount the belly pan everytime. Also, I think if I continued using it as designed, it would break. Anyway, I sawed the belly pan in two, just in front of the wooden former: see pictures. I removed the wooden pins in the back, and will use this place to screw M5; in the front I have to make a solution so it will clip in there, but I haven't exactly figured out how to do this.
Anybody else having these problems and what solutions?

I use a bit of steel pushrod 1.5mm 3 Futaba servo screws each side(one in the bellypan and two in the fuselage) Easy and failsafe.
The rod is winded around the front screw in the fuselage, then under the screw in the bellypan and is secured over the second srew in the fuselage.
Takes me 5 sek to click the bellypan on or off...and no need for tools....... This solution has been used for years here in Norway.

Picture show same solution used on Ola Fremmings Alliance.....
