Yep, they said they had one for me last week, but who knows, I can fix it, I just wanted a new shiny belly pan since the whole plane is new...lol
Great news about the OS, hope you like it!

I got my Venus II yesterday and like others noticed the cowl is a different shade of red than the red on the fuse. Tower said I had to call hobby services, and I did, but they want me to send in my cowl and they'll send a new one. Didn't others just get a new cowl shipped out to them. I see they're backordered on tower so I don't really want to send mine away only to have them not get a new one in for a month or more and then not be able to fly with a cowl. I can live with the mismatch I guess. The plane is gorgeous and only has a little bit of wrinkled covering. Mine will have OS120ax for power. I'll probably mount the tank up front to get the engine broken in and then move it back to the CG since I have a Perry VP30 pump for it.

What you are doing with the fuel tank and pump is really the best way to go. I tried installing the pump on a new engine and struggled with break-in and transition. Second time around I broke the engine in at the firewall. I just moved tank back the other day and am excited to fly with tank at CG; flies much nicer that way.

Just started building my Venus II. Reading a lot of the reviews, I can't wait to get it up in the air. Will be using a reconditioned YS 120 that came out of a Fresh Aire I had just reconditioned. Five flights into it, a wing sheared in half and that was the end of that. Since the engine was running sweet, I needed a replacement ASAP. Venus should fit the bill. Anyhoooo, one of the first step in assembly is to epoxy the wing joiner to a piece of plywood. Mine came already glued. Is that the same for y'all?

Without reading the whole thread, I'd just like to say that I flew this plane on Saturday for a club member. Setup was very simple, with the OS 120 and a pitts muffler. There was NO mixing in the plane. The plane flew awesome! I was shocked how well the plane flew. I flew it til lit ran out of gas doing all sorts of typical maneuvers. The only thing I suggested to the owner was a larger rudder servo to make rolling loops easier.
Thanks,
Jim

I am trying to decide between the Venus II and the Focus Sport. I do like the 2 piece wing with incidence adjusters that the Focus Sport has, but the price difference is significant. I also don't want to spend the extra $100 for a YS 110. I have seen folks using the OS 120 and I have never heard a smoother 2 cycle engine, nor one that idles so slowly. The folks seem to stress that the correct engine for the Focus Sport is the YS 110. The total cost difference is a real factor. Most here seem to tout the flying qualities of the Venus II but has anyone flown both of these airplanes? How do they compare?

To answer your question, read the previous post. Better yet, look back through the thread at all the competitions the Venus II has won.
I have a Saito 150 in mine and it fly's great. I am sure the Saito 125 would do as well as I had to add several ounces to the tail to balance the 150 that would not be needed for the 125.
The OS 120 does a wonderful job with this plane.
Save your $$$$$ and fly a great aircraft and it's on sale at Tower now for $249.00 plus another $50 off over $250.00 order.!!!!

maynardrupp,
I have had both the Focus Sport and the Venus II. I havn't flown the Venus II yet but it is a larger plane in size. The Focus Sport if I recall only has about a 61" or 62" wing span but is advertised as 66". I ran a Saito 125 in mine and it had plenty of power. The Venus II is a much stronger built plane and the fit and finish is a lot better as well IMO.

With the sale on the Venus, further Tower discounts, and even free shipping for super savers, it's got to be really hard to pass up.
The only things I would change about the Venus would be a two piece wing with a tube, and a removable canopy to access the plane without having to flip it upside down.
I remember the first day I flew the Venus and I was pretty amazed. It is a much more capable plane than I am pilot (only one summer of experience).
120AX is an animal in this plane. Get a perry pump with your savings and mount the tank at the CG.

I have seen those deals via an E-mail. They are a long list of discounts based on the cost of your total order. I don't know if they always exist, or only for a period of time after they are announced. I guess I have never read the notice carefully enough. Maybe someone who kmows more will pop in here. I have a $35.00 credit at Tower, and with that $50.00 rebate and free shipping, I think it is time to order one. Then I will only have to spend another $600 to get the engine, pump, rcvr., servoes, and battery etc. Oh well, you can't take it with you?

I used 2 x Hitec HS 5475's on the ailerons.
2 x Futaba S 3151's on the elevators
1 x Futaba S 3010 0n the rudder
1 Hitec HS 425 on the throttle.
You do not need a lot of high torque servos because there is very little deflection. Speed is more important than torque.

I've got JR DS821's on all surfaces, Hitec HS-81 for throttle, running regulated (6.2v) lipo. This setup is more than adequate at least for Sportsmans class. Like Tom said, torque is definitely not an issue, but at some point I'll start upgrading to faster servos, at least one for the rudder and two for the elevators.

The aileron push rods are 150 mm which are way longer than they need to be. They stick out almost to the middle of the aileron itself. Instructions make no mention of having to trim the push rod. Anybody else have this issue? I checked the servo, and the horn-side of the servo is away from the aileron.
