RE: Angel S EVO Build Thread
Totally agree, Mike . .
It's a great practice plane . . flies the P09 F3A schedule VERY nicely.
Time and weather has been against me flying this more . . It is fantastic to fly (and look at too ). Can't wait to get more air time on it soon (If my LiPo's haven't 'gone to sleep' [] )
Cheers, Jeff

That will teach you to get Hay Fever, anyone would think it was summer in the UK, LOL.
Thanks for the link, but I already found some spares in my LHS "Model World" in Bearsted Kent packadged by Overlander.

Belive it or not the Sun is out and the Sky is blue, its just gone 1300hrs and there are a few fair weather Cumalus poping off, wind is almost zero, what am I doing sitting on this computer, I am off flying, got a 2.2M Composite Edge to maiden, but I will take the Angel with me and my modified Acromaster, which does the fastest snap rolls I have ever seeen.

Thanks for the feedback guys. It seems like a good way to dip my toes back in the pattern pool. I'll catch up with Joe when he gets back and give it a try.
On the back burner, I was also considering a Focus Sport on YS 110 power. Anyone care to offer an opinion?
Regards,
George

George,
On the Angel, I would absolutely recommend it. As for the Focus Sport and YS 110, I just test flew one of those for a friend the same day I maidened my Angel. It is a very good flying pattern plane. I also have the larger Focus II with a YS 160 up front and I think the Sport flies just as well as it does........RS

RE: Angel S EVO Build Thread
Greetings guys from sunny Malaysia. I finally got my Angel up on 5S with the 'right' motor. At the moment my specs are as follows:
Motor - DualSky XM 4260-6 (566 KV)
ESC - DualSky 60A with built in switching UBEC
Batt - Flight Power EVO25 5S 4,900
Prop - APC 14x10E
Servos - JR 539s all round
RPM - 7,600
Amps - 50A
I love the power for F3A flying and I must say that this plane flies so clean and so well, I got literally no coupling for KE at all. Gonna practise hard (meaning no more stick banging) and then see how she performs in some local competitions.

I Think the amps are fine. I am using the 5S 5300's because I use a pair of them for my F3A 2x2 electric. After each P09 on the Angel I put back about 3400mah, compared to around 3000mah on my 2x2, which incidentally is an Comp ARF Integral on Hacker outrunner A60 20S. 16x10 is fine, 16x12 better pitch speed. In any case its an outstanding F3A model for its size.

RE: Angel S EVO Build Thread
I found the Angel an excellent model.
On the 15x10 i'm only pulling 58 amps. What is your amp draw???
I am also using the packs from my pattern model. (thats the reason i went for this model)
I am using the Zippy H's from Hobby city, so far no problems. I have just over 85 flights on one of the packs now.
I currently fly an Oxai Beryl and a Cyclone (designed kitted in Australia by John Payne)
Both have the hacker C50 14Xl with Spin 99's. Both models use the APC 20x15. P09 uses about 2800-3000mah max.

I have not measured it yet, and will advise the numbers when I do. I am using TP Prolite 5300's which I am very happy with. Both models uses a CC 85 HV and on the Integral a 19x12WE APC and my upcoming new model will use the same set-up as its been totally fuss and maintainance free. This is my first electric 2x2, my last was a 'nitro', Astral XX. How do you like the Beryl? Yes, I know the Cyclone, and John Payne too.

RE: Angel S EVO Build Thread
Jack ... I like to feel the breeze ... hahahahaahahaa ... seriously, I fly off a slightly rough dirt field and the Angel had its pants on for the maiden, after a couple of flights I took them off. They will be damaged for sure.
Opvaulet ... hey there neighbour! I need a new motor, was just testing out the DS ones to see how they last when you push them hard. I think a 15x10 would be better as I still want some reserve power for the uplines. Am thinking of 6S but then I am also flying a 10S set up and am not keen to go with another set of 6s packs. Hey I hear from a little bird that you are very good and that you judge too. Wanna come to KL for a holiday?

I have flown Angel's with 6 S and its power galore. But 5S with the combo I am using is fine; certainly more power and better set up for me than what I flew in the old days of 60 size long-strokes, during the days I still competed... Yes I judge; done several world champs and was also jury member for 3 continentals as well as the upcoming one in Taiwan.

Hi icicles,
Latest figures, confirmed on two different brand testers:
Hyperion 4025/12, TP 5300 5S, CC85V, APC 16x12E
Watts: 1200, Amps 75, RPM 6200, all at peak beginning of run with fully charged TP's.
Cheers!

RE: Angel S EVO Build Thread
Looks like I will pull out my Plettenberg Orbit 25/18 this weekend and see if it performs better on the Angel. Guess with a lower KV than my DS motor I can swing a bigger prop. Will get some data up when its done. Been starting to fly the Angel almost everyday now, 3 flights after work ... One thing I can say, flying pattern is a humbling experience and some people dare to say its boring.

RE: Angel S EVO Build Thread
Hi Bald Eagle,
It measured at those numbers but I guess it should be quite close; though the packs were fully charged under load it would be putting out around 16.5V and at 75 amps that comes to 1237.5 watts
Cheers.

RE: Angel S EVO Build Thread
Just to let you guys know.
I am running mine on a a Hacker A50-12S on 15 x 10 and CC80 esc. I am peaking at 1200W get a good 8mins of agressive aerobatics on FP 5S 3700. My pals are running the stock setup and the speed is higher with the 6S packs, but the 5S still has the torque to pull round the manouvers. I had a Hyperion 4025-10 and it was more power, but I had to run a smaller prop (13 x 8 or 14 x 8) which I think the plane looses some of it magic of swinging a larger prop. Also I found that flight times were down a little.
Cheers
Kris
