RE: THE WC 2009 THREAD!!! its about time!!!
Hey Guys
After the last pilot flies today, they will TBL all the results (they need everything in order for TBL to work, hence the reason for not normalizing), from that all you will see is normalized rounds just like a normal contest.
At that point, the lowest round is dropped, and the best 3 of 4 determine the preliminary round finishing order. The top 30 pilots (30 if more than 100 total, 30% if less than 100 total) will advance to the semi-finals on Friday. At that point, the preliminary scores for the top 30, are re-normalized back to 1000 (the average of your total score if the first place pilot has 3000 points). On Friday two rounds of F schedule will be flown by the semi-finalists, and the best 2 of the 3 scores (carry-in, and two F) will count for the semi-final placings. At that point the top 10 will advance to the finals on Saturday, and fly two rounds of F, and two different unknowns.
Tomorrow is the rain-day/official semi's practice, so everyone who moves on will be out getting ready ....I think some already started LOL (Andrew!).
Hope that helps clear it up.

Sorry Chris... I do not have a video camera. I've seen several people taping - I'm sure there will be some after the semis/finals.

Chad, just to clarify this, are you saying that for the carryover score from the prelims they take CPLR's score (because he had 3000) and make it 1000, and then everyone else's total is normalized to that?

Ya, now that the normalized scores are up and CPLR has 3000, divide everyone's totals by 3 and that should be each person's carry-over.
Once you do that you will see only 97 points separates 1st to 20th

Thanks for the clarification Chad. Yeah, I was reminding people on the NSRCA list that the prelims are pretty much mathematically insignificant, it's how you do in the Semi's and Finals that count! Good luck to all those in the Semi's, but especially team USA!!! (and Canada too, I guess)

Doug,
Per the list above, Wolfgang Matt is 18th after the prelims. I'd be interested to know why Roland isn't flying. Those guys fly mode 1 like I do I guess the really interesting part starts now!

What's the team results? Isn't that decided now after prelims?
looks like Japan, USA (depending on wether reigning champ is counted as team member or not), France, Austria etc.

RE: THE WC 2009 THREAD!!! its about time!!!
Roland Matt left the competition aerobatics two or more years ago, I was told it was because of his new job at the time.
There are some videos at vimeo.com, don´t know if are any of the flights.

Hey Chad
Congratulations on another good showing at the WC. The West Coast gang has been watching intently for the team members results and your efforts to blog have been great compared to previous events :-) I know that time can be rare when at this events but the reports are all greatly appreciated.
Being there instead of watching from here would be much better... have to work on that!
Good luck in the semis on Friday.
Dave & the gang.

Jon the format for deciding the team championships has been changed. It now includes the semi's and the finals and won't be determined until the very end. In the past it would have been determined already and yes the Japanese team would have won. Mike
