The access cover plate and housing has been made. As soon as the finishing resin coating on the outside surface is dry it will be installed.

I have been pondering what is next or needs to be next and just realized, I am almost done with the details until after painting. I will (hopefully) get the cover plates done tomorrow and I think it is time to finish the top wing. Then I believe, other than finishing the canopy, it will be time for some paint. Everybody cross your fingers with and for me.

Thank you Sir!
The access panels have been shaped, sanded, drilled, filled, sanded again, polished, and screwed in place.

Sitting here pondering a good way to put the fairings on the L/G and I'm not really liking the gear covering method I utilized. It is just to flexible and wrinkles up at the balsa block points no matter how well its shrunk. So! I pulled out a piece of that .040 PTEG and commenced to wrapping the gear. I think I like it, stiffened it up real well and also fattened it up a bit as well. The first pic is the left side without the PTEG. Pic 2 has the PTEG wrap.

The other gear leg has been covered. I pulled one off to show exactly what I'm doing, or what it looks like where it can be seen.

It seems the closer I get to the end of this build the more it takes to impress you guys. Quite frankly I thought the wrapping of the L/G with plastic was shear genius! LOL

Well I was wondering if the full size airplane had a wrinkling issue with the landing gear covering? The plastic is a great idea to solve the problem. Know one not in this thread will know you did it once the painting is done!

By now Robert we are pretty jaded.

Actually, it is a pretty smart solution. What did it take to get the plastic to conform to the L.G. legs? I am assuming the plastic is wrapped 180 around the gear legs.

But because we love you (a little bit anyways)

Back in near the beginning of this thread a few guys posted places that had photos of the Red Eagle Pitts. I have been looking for those links as well as where I found my pics at but can not find either. Please post where those pics were at, I need a couple good shots of the eagle and all mine have been reduced for posting here.

That's a hard one to explain, short version. Clamp one side on flat, heat at curve and pull around, when close use a flat surface like a sanding bar to press flat while heating. I use the covering gun for heating, just watch the plastic as one goes.

Thanks Robert I will book mark that.

I have to wait a bit yet, till at least late next month. Not going to be in shape to do much of anything for awhile, neck surgey. Replace a disk. Got fitted for the neck brace this morning.

Packing and moving most of our stuff to storage. Until I start getting disability We are moving in with some friends from church as we can't make rent till then. So I am not even working on my little CL RM Bibe that is getting close to covering. After we are moved out I will order plans from the contact you gave me.

Here is a picture of it if you don't mind and the build thread.

Thanks Steve
Things have a way of working out. The process is just bewildering. This past week when I was confined to my recliner for 48 hours (after a CT-milogram) convinced me my wife is not physically able to hold up for an extended convalescence on my part. So being with another family for that period will take a load off of her.
After the neck surgery I am looking at hand and lower back surgeries. In a few months I should start getting disability, and then we can get our own place again. In the mean time I wont be such a rough burden on my wife with others around.

The Lord always provides. Often not in the way we expect or want. But he does better than our expectations and wants.

The new cockpit aluminum was positioned last night. This morning I have repositioned the windscreen more appropriately. The glass frame was a bit out of shape so I am making another one. I probably could have used heat to reset the previous frame but it also had small notches from the cabane.
