Curtis Jenny, made the cowl and figured I'd use some screen door material for the radiator and allow engine cooling. But I'm drawing a blank how to attach the screen to the radiator.

CA? I think we'll need more info to make any better recommendation that this. What is the radiator made of? What's the size of the piece of screen you want to use? I wouldn't imagine that much strength is needed here.

Personally, I'd be tempted to use metal mesh vs. nylon mesh. It can be bent to shape and won't sag down the road. I'd try to seat it from the inside of the cowl with a couple drops of epoxy or even some small screws.

And just to TOTALLY inspire (or depress) you, as the case may be, here the custom made brass radiator by master builder Donnie "the Scot"

My Feedback: (20)
h-ray,
I have used screen material to simulate radiators on several models. I make up a frame out of 1/16th ply that fits snuggly inside the radiator frame. To install first cut your screen material about 1/4 inch oversize and then bend back the edges 90 degrees. slide the screen into the radiator, from the rear if possible. Then slide the inner frame in so that it holds the bent back screen edges tightly to the side of the radiator. Finally apply thin CA to hold permanently. You may need to use some mocro balloons or baking soda for a filler. Not a good photo, but you can see the results on my P-6-E.

As far as window mesh (screen) the 2 types I know of are the flexible,(most common)it is actually a fiberglass mesh that has a dark grey coating on it.You can sand the coating off at the edges where you`ld like to make your bond then epoxy it down into place with a compatable epoxy. You can also get an aluminum screen, also for doors and windows, that is left in a natural finish. Check for it at window and door repair outlets,Home Depot, maybe. One more suggestion is if you would like to have a larger "square" go to a store that sells drywalling supplies and ask for the fiberglass tape that is used in the joints, between the sheets of drywall before the joint compound is applied. With this screen you can epoxy it down in a criss- cross pattern for a diamond shape( all can be done like this ).You can then prime and paint all these materials to get an effect that you would like to have(aluminum, brass, copper, whatever would like to do).Personally, I`d use a suitable epoxy for the bond. That just would be my 1`st choice.Hope I gave you a few ideas, always a good thing to have a few options!!......DAVE B.

Will do Bob. Home Depot only sold the aluminum screen as a full sheet (8.95) and I haven't opened it yet. Will try Michel's Art tomorrow. (Want to bet they want almost the same price for a piece 1/10 the size?)

And don't forget the $1 stores! Just look around for something with a bit of mesh you can tear out! I get A LOT of my scale supplies at places like this.
