I have one of these unfinished from modified Fusco plans. Fuse tail parts and one wing panel done, got interrupted but I will finish it. Cowl and pants available from Fiberglass Specialties.( I have them) I have the gear built and will power it with a Moki 2.1o on gas.I modified the interior construction of the fuse for more room and ease of construction. I'd send some pix but it's in a trailer in Nashville Tn at this time as I am in the middle of a BIG move.

Love the user name.......
I also play in a band at age 68(go figure) and we call our gear geezer gear because we have gotten away from all of the heavy stuff.....ha ha ha
Can you help me out as far as plans go for this beautiful bird.
I also want to go big and put a Moki radial in this bird or maybe a Wallach 420.
I believe that is the spelling.
It's European anyway and I saw it featured on a Beautiful Hall Bulldog in Yellow on YouTube.
Check that one out as I also want to build that big baby as well.
Thanks for getting back with me

As I recall I got the plans from Jim Pepinos Scale Plans and Photo Service. After Jim passed his missus kept it running for several years and it was from her that I got my set of plans. She has sold the plan business and due to a computer crash some time ago I lost all my data on the site where the old Pepino plans could be sourced and I don't remember the name of the outfit that was doing it. My plans are prolly in good shape but as I mentioned above all my shop is packed for a move and it may be a few months before I can find them. The original plan had about a 3" square box in the core of the fuselage running mostly the length of it and I opened up the inside a LOT and lightened the central crutch as much as I could while fleshing out the shape with formers and stringers with the necessary sheeting at the front. .

Thanks Doc for your response. I also know about Old plans and how they can be Heavy and over built.
I took a set of Henry Haffke's plans and modified them from Model Airplanes News for the R1/R2 Long Tailed Racer Gee Bee and blew it up to 96" span. I sold it before I ever finished it though because there just wasn't a suitable engine out there for it at the time and I lost interest in the build because of that.
The Quarda was about the biggest thing out there at the time and I just didn't think it would do the trick.
I will search for those plans for sure. I know all to well about moving. It Sucks......
Thanks again Doc and stay in touch please

Doc, I found your guy.....
Unfortunately he doesn't have this plan.
He bought the service from Jim's wife Ann and when he bought it, she had to send a bunch of plans back to the original owners because they were under contract with those people and they wanted them back.
His name is: Henry Budzynski 7275 Arrow Stone Road Mechanicsville, Virginia 2311
His service email address is: [email protected]
Office phone: 804-789-1618
After 6:00 PM: 540-336-1492
I talked with him at length tonight and told him that the email address didn't go through from my end for some reason and he is going to check that out tomorrow.
I also gave him my email address and he said that now that he knew who the original designer was he would do a little research on his end to see what he could come up with.
He also told me that he would be glad to pay you for a set of your plans if that is the only way to get his hands on them because a lot of others have contacted him about these same plans.
I told him about you moving and that everything was in storage so as of right now, You Are The Man.
I hope you get to these babies soon and we can all get our hands on them.
Thanks Doc
Talk to you again soon I hope.

Hi Doc,
No, I am just outside of Orlando, FL in Longwood which is a suburb on the east side of town right smack in the middle of the state.
45 minutes to Daytona and about an hour and a half from Tampa.
Many great modelers around here as well.
Bob Violet is a personal friend of mine that I have know for years.
I literally watched his business grow into what it is today.
BVM is now a house hold name in the modeling community.
Years ago when I had my framing business going, I framed Bob's house for his contractor, Bill Williamson who is another Excellent modeler himself as well as now a very fine aerobatic pilot.
He moved up into the Ocala area some years ago and built himself a home in a airplane community and has his own 3 plane hangar right nest to his house.
How cool is that and he also built his own monster Pitts and still flies in competition with it.
He sold the original Pitts S-1 that he built and then built the newer version of the monster Pitts with more power for better aerobatics.
Way to cool.
I certainly appreciate what you are trying to do for me regarding the QED plans but if nothing comes of the search, I guess we will just have to wait until you get things unpacked to see where we stand at that time.
I will keep all of my fingers crossed that we can find these but if not, then I hope that your set might be re-producible.
Thanks again Doc,
Doug

Hi Doug, I flew the Blue Max in the Orlando area a couple of years ago (Sanford club) then the 2015 event was weathered out while we had planned to attend, missed this years event due to the move as all my airplanes are with a friend in Nashville since early December. Hope to make it next Jan. Moving to Eastern Tennessee to be more in the center of the Dawn Patrol activity that I enjoy the most. I have two wardrobe boxes pretty much filled with plans and as soon as I can I'll dig through them. I cant recall but I don't usually total a set while building so here's hoping they're reproducable.

Hi Doc,
I hope to meet you next time you come to Sanford.
I don't live far from the flying site which I believe is up near the Sanford airport if I'm not mistaken.
I have never been to that site as I belonged to the RCACF for many years.
I have been out of modeling for quite a while do to family, kids, businesses, and so forth but have reached retirement age now and seriously want to get back into the hobby that I truly love.
Will definitely have to learn to fly again but I'm sure it's like riding a bike.
Once you learn, you've got it.
You just get a little rusty and in my case moldy and oldy (69 in June).
Anyway, I reached out to Fiberglass Specialties to see what they could do since they still have the cowling and wheel pants for sale.
I thought they might be able to contact some of their clients to see if they had any of these plans that were in good enough shape to be re-produced.
I don't know if they will do that for me but at least I asked.
It would be a win-win situation for both of us.
I will keep you posted on those regards.
Talk again soon,
Doug

You're right on the riding a bike, I took a 14 year hiatus to fool with hot rod cars and went back to my passion (airplanes), built a trainer (Goldberg Eagle 63) and flew it unassisted, then flew it on floats then made a tail dragger out of it and etc etc. That was in 88 and now I'm in to WWI scale stuff, the bigger the better, I suppose I've built near a hundred sport types and got the scale bug. I'm 70 in three weeks and a couple of days.

"Doc" I am so glad I met you(well almost)......
You sound like my kind of guy......
History.....
My dad was a fighter pilot in the USAF and basically I traveled the world as a dependent.
While he served out nation as a lifer in the Air Force, he never taught any of his 4 sons how to fly.....
Go Figure......?
I would have loved to learn how to fly personally.......
I got bit in my youth ages by the Beatles and decided that I wanted to be one of those guys......
Well, I have to tell you, I am one hell of a bass player and a damn good singer and I still play to this day but the big time never graced me....
Wasn't in the cards for me.
I married and had Kids......
End of that story........
Construction business was booming in Florida and I was a Health Horse and decided to give it a try.....
45 Years later and several businesses I finally find myself Semi-Retired.......
No money though which really sucks.....
Fortunately my significant other makes plenty of money through an insurance claim and pays her for life so things aren't that bad for either of us and I still work part time.
2015 was Great for me and I am actually in the middle of a home remodel because of that good fortune.
Next on the list for me...........Models..........Big Models.........
I am and have always been into Golden Age Racers........
I don't know what it is but I just love those guys.......
Next on the list.........Big Hawker Sea Fury........With a Big Radial Engine.......
There are quite a few kits to chose from right now but Boy......Those Radials Ain't Cheap........
$4500.00 + without propeller..........Ouch.......!
It had better last is all I can say and see many different airplanes along the way.
Moki Anything would be OK right now.
I'll put in a request for Santa......Ha Ha Ha......Good Luck On That
My love for War Birds is also pretty strong with my favorite being the Hawker Sea Fury.......
What a beautiful flying airplane and I have seen many of the newer kits fly and they all fly well.
Like you, I like the bigger birds because I believe they just fly better and handle the wind conditions so much better.
Time will tell if that holds true.
P-47 Jug would be next on my list.....
Right now, this Conquistador Gee Bee Q.E.D. has my attention and interest and that is what I am focused on.........
Also in the future, I would love to build a Large Art Chester Chipmunk........
I don't know what it is about that airplane but it is just appealing to me and I loved the way it flew and the paint scheme was great and very easy to see in the air.
Tail dragger and very good training for the young bucks like me.......ha ha ha.
"Doc" talk again soon and always nice hearing from you.
Looking forward to hearing from you again,
Doug

Hi Doc,
Well as they say, it's a small world....
I had reached out to Craig over at Fiberglass Specialties to see if he would send any of his former clients a note asking if they still had these plans in good enough shape to be reproduced.
His reply was that he had only sold 2 sets of these parts in the last 12 years and that only one of them was in the USA.
I wrote him back and asked him if it was You that bought them and he replied "Yes, it was Doc in Texas" so I guess you are it my friend.
You are my last resource as I have pretty much run the table on this one.
So, I guess we will just have to wait and see how your set is when you finally get to it.
Please don't forget about me though.
You can always email me at: [email protected] as well or even call me at: 321-228-0106 if you like.
Please stay in touch,
Doug

Hi Doc,
What are you doing anyway......?
Are you just moving to a new state to be closer to those people you love or what.......?
Sounds to me like you are pretty heavy into the WII guys now and maybe that has something to do with it which is cool as long as your wife goes along with it........
Is there a wife.......?
God, I shouldn't ask those kind of questions.........
Anyway, I still would like you to keep in touch and who knows, we will probably meet this coming January up in Sanford and have a few laughs over all of this.
Looking forward to it.......
Doug

Yes there is a very supportive wife. Yes we are moving east to get closer to the WWI events, Eastern Tennessee is basically the center of the Dawn Patrol universe. We have lived in Houston for 34 years or so and we are retired now and sort of tired of being able to spit on the neighbors house and living among 6.5 million people in the area. Were in our autumn and its time to throttle back and slow down and find a more rural way of life. Maybe listen to fewer sirens, I can recognize the Like Flight helicopters by sound as they fly over so often, Someone forgets which gear they are in and drives into a storefront or a restaurant at least once a day here, it's really time to move on.

I can certainly relate to that.
I moved to central Florida in 1970 and have been here ever since.
My, has the land scape changed......
Two kids later, I wish I was in the mountains sometimes but then again, I have been blessed with the ability to build my own homes and have never been in a elbow environment so far.
Still, it's getting pretty congested around here these days.
They call it Progress........Ha Ha Ha......
Glad you have good support at home.
That Always helps.....
Looking forward to meeting you one of these days.
