With a vented tank hoverring is very easy and the sub holds that hover because water is controlled or meetered very preciesly and he valves insure no return leaks.

Please don't forget that my sub has many hours of running time, on surface and underwater. We have a pond in the city, it's 70x40 mts (23x13 ft) 5ft deep. Every time we schedule a subs meeting there, I run 4 or 5 laps, walking by the pool, submerged close to the bottom (yes I've scrapped the hull bottom many times) just to test everything. Not a single drop in side the WTC.

The pump is a french Peugeot one, not a FIAT, so you won't have to Fix It Again Tony. As for running the pumt outside the WTC, no room for it (have you ever seen a 1/144 Trumpeter Seawolf?), and frantically no need for it. It drains 800 mA.

Thats good but try 2 to 3.5 hours of continuese running under and on top in a city pond 180x 80 mtrs and 12ft deep even has a young Aligator or in cristal clear 72 degree year round river spring water ,the current is a blast to run along side of the pontoon boat and run without moving over any ground!
Nedles to say the sub must run good!

Well I will never run my sub in a river, or in a pond infested with aligators. And why should I dive deeper than my sighting capability? The only available pond I have is the pond I described before.

I built my fleet to relax and enjoy, and frantically diving to dangerous depths is not my way of relaxing. I have tried the Seawolf for 2 hours (its running time) and everything was good news.

Thats good I rerlax in the same manor but I like to go deep ,very deep for a RC Sub ,in a groto aquifer cave here in Florida known as the Devils Den the water gets to about 35 feet with perfect visability so i have modified several subs to take the pressure and nice long runtimes with a camarra even Wireless Telemitry for depth,power, motor temps and alarms for all paramiters,this is another thing I introduced to the RC Sub andit is Awsume see my postsabout it on this site :Telemitry for your Sub! I dont go to the lake without it and has kept me dry many times!!
The Gators they are more afraid of my subs than I am of them and even shase them sometimes,fun.
I gues you could call me a hardcore RC submariner.

Both these ships have great hydrodynamic capabilities with little drag and with jetdrive and diferetial aileron or diveplains should be show stopper!!

Just Like the Octura the forward dive plains work like ailerons on an aircraft and make a huge difference in manueverability as the sub is banked in turns much more than normal,only avialable on computer radios and uses 2 servos.Super cool.

Thanks. An article related to another RC convertion, a 1/125 Fletcher class destroyer, the USS Johnston (Battle off Samar) was sent to MMI, I hope to see it published soon.

And now I am in the process of scratch-building a PCF "swift boats" that were used in Vietnam. MMI is waiting for me to finish it to have it published.

Ahh gotta love those little PCF's! Had a semi-scale Vosper patrol boat that I purchased one summer, modified the lower hull and and scratchbuilt a new superstructure and a few deck details. Haven't added the railings yet but hoping to do that soon. She is approximately 1/45 scale, the lower hull isn't exactly to scale... but heck, its good enough!

Buenas tardes desde Madrid. Roberto, su sistema de lastre me ha parecido muy interesante. Llevo tres años dándole vueltas a varios sistemas, con dos submarinos en el astillero y uno funcionando de aquella manera y estoy buscando un sistema fácil, fiable, sencillo y BARATO. Me queda una sola duda:Su sistema no tiene instalada ninguna válvula;el aire sale de la bolsa al bombear agua dentro, y el tubito estrecho impide que entre agua al vaciarla, precisamente por lo estrecho que es ¿Es así?

Es asi, en pocas palabras, como funciona: bajo el agua, el capilar apenas permite pasar algunas gotas, mientras que la bomba vacia la bolsa con mayor caudal, por lo cual, la colapsa (se crea un pequeño vacio en el WTC), y el sub emerge. Una vez fuera del agua, el tubo expuesto (capilar) toma aire, vaciándose totalmente la bolsa, que debe ser flexible, no elástica.

Si fuera yo usare valvulas para mejor controlar aqua y aire,la bomba tambien va dehar gue aqua pasa por los dos derectiones.Y en una grande submarino los presiones va nesidar el uso de valvulas.

Bueno, este sistema es para este sub. Ya estoy en otro (TR 1700) escala 1/50 y uso 2 tanques y nada que ver con el del Seawolf.

Good day to all. I've carefully readed your article on CAMNE and, compared with the pictures at the beginning of this thread and your article in the subdrivers forum, a question arises:It seems to me that the exhaust tube is different in the articles mentioned:Here it lloks like there's only one tube with a capilar atop the bag and, on the other, the capilar is in a by - pass with a one way valve. Anyway both seems to end at the tower to let air be caught when the subs reaches surface. Is it correct?Thank you for your info and detailed articles and apologies for my lack understanding.

The pictures at he beginning of the thread show my first experiment on the subject, and yes, the capillary tube was glued to the bag, but later tests showed that it was an error, because when the bag is full of water and the pump keeps on running, pressure grows to "dangerous" levels, so the bypass system alleviates this.

And the exhaust tube runs out the WTC to the air intake at the sail. Isn't it?

Exactly that way (thus as soon as the sub emerges it picks air). And that section of the snort is narrow enough to let a bit of pressure build up inside the bag, in order to let it expand to its maximun (because for sure it previously collapsed when blowing the air after the previous dive, due to vacum).
