Hi YHR, can you give us a rough estimation about the price of the sound upgrade?

in this video you can hear the turret brake clutch. this is exactly what it sounds like.

Thanks for explaining YHR, will the card be compatible with the HL high intesnsity flash? I ask because I currently have the anti track recoil modelbau unit from welsh dragon installed with built in flash. I needed to keep the HL sound so that meant I couldn't just disable the track recoil by unplugging from the rx18, hence the atr unit. Now with your sound card if I'm not mistaken I won't need the HL sound along with the track recoil (by pressing the K button), therefore can I completely remove the K button functions, uninstall the atr unit and then install the high intensity flash with your sound card? Or does the HL high intensity flash work in conjunction with the K button?

Sorry, one more question, thanks for your patience! Before you power up the engine is there no power to the motors like the original HL setup or is that fully customisable? Do you still have to press the engine start button before you can use any functions?

Many thanks. Can't wait!

THnaks Bubba. I look into limiting the RPM on this.

Here is a Panther sound in the KV1

And an Abrams.

As I said Panther and Abrams ( and maybe others too?) there are engine sounds form Benedini TBS sound system .
As I understand it is not Benedini TBS inside this tank but Benedini engine sounds was transfered to this "prototype sound card" ? - is not allowed by Thomas</p>

As he said :
</p>"It is absolutely NOT allowed to use Benedini sounds on any othersoundsystem"

so its illegal</p>

Sorry I have been away on business. I do not use the high intensity flash, and don't know exactly what triggers it. As far as I know it works off the K button, so you may still need to use it.

The are no provisions for firing the high intensity flash with this sound unit.

You still have to hit the start button to turn on the functions of the RX 18. You just unplug the speaker.

The Diesel and V8 are my creation, and I clearly stated that the Panther and M1 were someone elses. It was poor judgment on my part to showcase the Panther and the M1 sound at this time and because of this I have removed them.

It is too bad you have jumped to the conclusion I am doing anything illegal.

Hi YHR,

Good to know that you are being transparent on this. I salute you for your integrity!

BTW, can I roughly know the price for the sound card? I'm interested to get at least two sets when it comes out.

I can't yet comment on the price until all the manufacturing costs are nailed down. Some changes in the design to make it totally plug and play need to be incorporated. It won't be cheap, but it should be less expensive then anything else.

My enthusiasm on how good this sounds when mated with the HL electronics got the better of me, and as much as I am sharing the development of this device with the board, in hindsight I shared a bit too much at this time.!!!!!!

I am sorry I can't be more specific about the price just yet. For anything to be successful it has to show good value for the price paid. All I can say is that is my goal, and I will be doing all I can to keep this reasonable.

I am a little disappointed that WSN was quick to paint me a criminal, and put into question the work I did on the V8 and diesel soundsets. I can assure you these are my own creation built from real engine recordings. WSN helped me a lot in understanding how the EL mod system worked, and I respect him for his willingness to help me out, and just wish he would have PM'd me prior to making an accusation like he did. Anybody who knows me know how much I value creative licence. I have freely shared many of my idea's on this board over the years to improve Heng Longs, and to keep you guys in the loop on this project just seemed like the thing to do.

I guess misunderstandings are unavoidable because many people within the forum have not really seen each other face to face. The willingness to give each other the benefit of doubt and to refrain from jumping into conclusion usually comes when good and close relationships have been established. This is the experience that I have in my work place.

Anyway, I just want you to know that you are doing a great job offering guys like us good alternatives. Will wait patiently for more info from you.

If i might suggest a couple of ideas...
I am building a king tiger useing a spektrum dx6i, dbu and an rx-18. I am not overjoyed with the rx-18 throttle response or lack of ability to handle stronger motors... i am very happy with the dbu however.

I have set up twin speed controls from a hobby grade tugboat for very precise motor control using the mixing of the dx6i, however getting good sound that way is a challenge...

How hard would it be to have your system work completly independent of the rx-18, directly from either piggy backing on the hobby radio servo outputs or running the servo leads from your unit into a hobby receiver and servo leads plug into your system out to the various destinations... turret traverse, barrel elevation, machine gun...
or perhaps the leads would tie into the electric motors on the unit moving the barrel or turret...

Just a few ideas i am looking for so i can build and add functions to my tank as budget allows with out saving a big chunk and buying el mod all at once, life keeps eating the el mod budget.

Thank you for considering my thoughts,
Jeremy

This system can work without the RX 18. It is designed to work with the inexpensive RX18 but it is not limited by that. It is very flexible to suit the modelers need, and can be used exactly as you described. Of course not plug and play but simple wiring . If you have a hobby grade radio this will work fine with it.

My goal was to have something that could make a Heng Long rock, but if a person wanted to go with a Sabretooth ESC and and another controller for the turret roation, this system would add all the tank sounds you required.

Sounds real good, I am ok with soldering wires and such but i am only ok at circuit boards...
i used the board from a base model servo and the hen long turret rotation for traverse, it did real well and variable speed as a bonus...

I too am waiting for this system

In testing the impedence from the Heng Long accessory motors was causing random false triggers. I could not succesfully get rid of this, so it is back for a redesign, and the release date delayed.

Thank you for asking about it though

Dan

Keep at it, you'll figure it out. I'm very keen to have one of these units as are a lot of people.

Your getting there Dan. I assure you this WILL be the sound system in my HE Abrams. Could very well be in my HE LEO lso since I know you have a LEO and will most likely be creating a sound file for it. At least I hope.
I would really like to keep the electronics simple in these 2 tanks. If We can use standard ESC's to run rhe tanks and trigger the gun and tanks sounds with this unit that will fix all my issues. Well not my personnal personallity ones any way. LOL. Please keep up the good work. I was bumbed out i did not get to Danville to meet you and the other guys.
Wound up with one terrible infection in me lungs. Really bad the allergies this year.
Hope to have the new unit soon. Really want to get my modern armor rolling with all these commy T-55's runnin around. It's like an invasion. LOL.
