I'll take a shot.

If your boys' tanks are the Hen Long with smoke and sound, you are bound to have problems due to their unreliable nature. The electronics seem to go haywire and fail because of electrical overload or something. I have the Pershing (Snow Leopard) with smoke and sound, which is completely undrivable.

The best thing to do is cut off the smoke machine....inside the battery compartment, there is a switch to disable it. Once it is turned off, the tanks should be a bit better. The buttons on the front of the transmitter should make the machine gun sound, as well as the cannon fire and recoil.

If your tanks do not have the smoke and sound functions, I'm not sure what to tell you. [] When the tank and transmitter are both switched on, the lights should stop blinking after 3 seconds or so and the tank should respond to the controls. If it just continues to blink, there may be a problem with the frequency crystals (one TX in the transmitter and one RX in the receiver). You might try removing and reinstalling them to see if there is a good connection and therefore a good radio signal. Also, check to make sure that all of the batteries in the transmitter are installed correctly.......it may sound silly, but I have spent hours trying to figure out a problem before realizing that one of the batteries was in wrong.

I hope something I've written will help but if not, post another message and be as specific as you can about what is and is not working. [sm=thumbup.gif]

Good Luck!

Hello
well my boys inform me their tank dose not have the smoke nor sound effects ive tried well we all tried the idea you supplied with the batteries to no avail well we got a slight movement in the turret then nothing, the head lights now have been on all night blinking away the instruction manual is a nightmare (so are the boys at the moment) now being no engineer and talking of crystals i wonder if you could walk me through the removal and re install if possible or could it be another tank for the boys????? not bad seeing they had it one day maybe better with the real thing[sm=drowning.gif]
if its no problem to you
thanks

Hmmmmmmm. If the lights just continue to blink, then it sound like there is no communication between the transmitter (controller) and the receiver (electronic board inside tank). If the batteries, both in the transmitter and in the tank, are good, then it could be the crystals (see picture), but if both tanks are doing the same thing?!?!?!?!.................[]

Unfortunately, if it is not something as simple as batteries or crystals, your only other option is to take the tank apart and look for a short in the circuitry (loose, broken or disconnected wire) and repair it with solder. With any type of repair, you are taking the chance that you might make the problem worse and/or lose any chance of getting a refund.

What it all comes down to is that you paid for (2) tanks that do not function properly and you should not have to try to fix them yourself-they should be replaced by the seller. Most of us who post on this forum just try to correct the problems ourselves rather than deal with "returns", but you may not have that option.

If it does not work and you cannot figure it out with a simple inspection, contact the seller and send it back. [&o]

Hi there
well thank you for the reply and help ive been wondering and tinkering as far as i dare so being no mr scott nor sherlock holmes but i wonder if this sounds elimentary to you ,well i will try to talk you through it all as best as i can underneath the tank there are 3 channel switches ...well when the boys say switch to channel A on the tank and on the contoller the tank moves just a little then switch to channel B it will move a little again and the same for C now we tried to charge the battery for the tank all night but all we got was the little spurts ,now could it be a dead battery ?one whats duff?or ryki in my own language as for the tank being replaced they came all the way from germany so in a way not an option open to me the other works ok but thank you for the help you have given its been great help and know you sent those pics i can look even further
Well to quiten the boys ive orded two new batteries for the tanks so we can try that i know this is a lot to ask but is there any plans which shows the insides of these tanks and how to take apart ?
thank you

..This very much sounds like a battery problem to me. If you heat up the batteries a bit, say with a hair dryer, the current should rise a bit and the tank wil make bigger spurts. You could check the current with a multi meter, but somehow I've got the feeling you don't own one..
I hope the new batteries work and if not, you'll find plenty of help here..

Happy new year,

SFC

You're a good mom. [sm=thumbup.gif]

Here it goes:

In order to disassemble the Tiger 1 tank, you have to first remove both of the tracks. You can push out a pin, but I simply tug on the side/rear end of the track and turn the drive wheels by hand until the tracks come off. Once the tracks are removed, unscrew the long screws (1 in front and two in back), and then take out the six short screws on the sides that were blocked by the tracks before you removed them.

That should allow you to separate the bottom of the tank from the top, but the wires will still be attached to both, so you cannot move the sections very far apart until you disconnect the wires. One wire (single) is the antennae wire, which just pulls apart. The other is a set of wires that plug in to each other with a white connector.

To take the Pershing tank apart, just remove the screws from the bottom without removing the tracks, and disconnect the same wires as the Tiger 1.

Now that the top is basically free from the rest of the tank, look for frayed, broken or loose wires. If everything seems okay and the new batteries do not fix the problem, you may just have to throw up your hands and tell those boys that Mom did everything in her power. I'm not even sure that I could fix the tanks if they were right in front of me, so don't feel bad if you cannot solve this problem.

..you could also loosen the drive-wheels, the centre of the front wheel is a cap, underneath is a screw. The wheels in front are prone to self-loosening (mainly left) because of these same screws. Left wheel turns same way as loosening screw in forward motion. Before refitting the front wheels, put a spring-washer in.

Anteeksi, Minä en ymmärrä suomea.. but I found out "kiitos kiitos paljon" literally translates as "Thank you thank you much", you're welcome.. Finnish is to much for me, I think I'll stick with my French, German, English and of course Dutch (because I am).

Good luck, By the way "siblings" in English generally means one's brother(s) or sister(s)...not one's children.

Hope you got your boyz tank fixed.

Hi there. I bought the tiger for my son for xmas and the turret and gun didnt work. I took the transmitter apart and forund that the connections that connect the stick output to the electrics werent touching. A few minutes later and his tank works lovely. Funny thing was that mine wouldnt turn. Same problem.

regards

Mike
