Put another old crank in my os28 (snapped the other one) and took the HF to this bash spot. Lots of dried dam beds, rock beds, gravel pits etc. The os and the hf went great. Beat the crap out of them, nothing broke (for a change). Put about 10 tanks thru. The os still goes good for a 30+ lts engine with little compression. My tyres are now crap. getting very bald and losing grip. Need some badlands but aint got the dosh to buy them.
I will probably be still bashing the old HF in another few years. Probably will be the only one on earth still using one.

Yes the stock K4.6 is a pull start.
Parts are pretty easy to get. Though the truck is pretty durable so you probably would need too many of them.

Hi guys i dug my hellfire out of the shed yesterday for a winter clean up.It had no wheels and engine so i fitted an axial 28 that i had in my room. The only clutch bell i could find was a 17th so i fitted that.In my room i also found some zombie max's on black dish wheels(yes i have to many rc bits in my room).I am going to get a jp3 pipe for it.I have one on my lst and it performs realy well. The Hellfire is discontinued now here in the UK but luckily you can still get parts for it.I am not sure what shock oil is in it but the front seems prity hard.Could anyone recomend some shock oil weight?I dont bash it hard and use it to race around a feild that isnt very bumpy. Thanks for any advice.

35-35 might work for you. If you are doing big jumps heavier will give some extra damping to soak up the landings.
How did you get the 17T clutch bell in? Did you widen the mounting holes?

Help!  Guys... I went to recharge the stock reciever battery pack that my Hellfire came with.  The battery got really hot and pretty much blew up!!  Can I just set it up like my Savage and use 2 Double A batteries instead?  Otherwise I have to drop $40 or so for another one of those packs and drive two hours into town to pick it up.

Any knowledgeable input on this would be highly appreciated!

You can definitely use AA's. The problem is the size of the radio box on the hellfire makes it hard to fit anything other then a flat pack.
You might have to strap it on top temporarily till you get another flat pack.
If you look online you should be able to find a flat pack for under $20.

Two AA's equal 3 volts. Half of what you need.

Thanks i will try some 35 weight oil.I didnt have to mod anything to get the 17 cb in.There is enough room to get an 18 in before i need to mod anything.

If you do a search on youtube there are some videos of brushless hellfires. You might have to make a motor mount but other then that it will work fine

Guys, my charger/discharger is died on me.  Can anyone suggest a decent charger/discharger that does nimh batteries, and the other types used in electric RC?

Also, what would you suggest as the FIRST FEW best mods for my Hellfire??  I've seen alot of opinions on the internet, but want YOUR opinion.

Im using this one now http://www.hobbypartz.com/thac6smbachw.html and it works great.
As far as mods go it depends on what you are doing. Are you just bashing or are you racing?
Racing definitely needs new wheels and tires. Bowties or crimefighters work good on the HF especially if you put them on 1/2 offset wheels.
A stronger steering servo makes a big difference too. If you want more speed and torque go with an LRP ZR.30 truggy bump start engine.

I use a Super Brain 960 its a good basic charger. If you add a cpu fan on top that will help stop it from faults peaking sometimes on larger batteries. I also use a Competition Turbo 35 GFX this is a pricey charger but it will do the job all the way around with batteries of all ranges and sizes. I can upgrade mine to charge Lipo's for $50.00 witch I will do when I convert my Hellfire to electric.

Alright, I ordered a Surecharge Pro 2000 last night... looks pretty bad ***

Can someone tell me more about some good, practical mods for the Hellfire>?  Yes, I do intend to race it at the local track... speed and longevity are what I want out of it.

1/2 off set will hurt the steering. Anyone following ROAR rules, .30 engines are illegal, .28 max.

Why would 1/2 offset hurt steering? I run those wheels on both my truggies and hasnt affected the steering at all. Did make the truck more stable and if anything made the steering better.
I would check with your track as to what their rules allow.
Alloy knuckles will take up some of the steering slop.
Stronger servos and better tires and you should be pretty competitive.
Oh and if you have already done so, upgrade to a 2.4ghz radio.
Do you have a link to the charger you ordered?

If thats the racers edge charger thats the same as the one I sent the link to except the one I linked has a built in A/C adapter. They are all made by the same company and then each aftermarket company puts their label and price tag on it.

Yeah, it's the Racer Edge Surecharge Pro 2000... after comparing a ton of different chargers, it seems like the best for me.

Anyone know where I can buy some wheel extensions for my Hellfire?

Also... in your opinion, do you think the aluminum hop-up stuff is a good way to go or do they increase the weight of the truck?

Any other mods worth doing?
