I would keep the servos where they are...the only servo i put toward the CG was the rudder and tail wheel servos..due to running pull pull, plus easier to get to than putting them back in the tail. When balancing mine..i even moved the CG forward about half inch..which required me to put even more weight up front...plan still flys beautifully and moves along fine with a US 41cc and a 20x8 xoar prop.

Bill,

To give you an example I have the Skyshark P-40N and most people who fly it have it weighing in at 23lbs. I choose to install my 3 servo's on the fuselage at the CG location and not in the tail. My Skyshark P-40N weigh's in at 21lbs. The 2lbs makes this plan fly a little better.

Hello ,all of you out there who have experience with flying this Zero , it is maybe not easy to answer ,but i have a small airstrip only 225 feet long and 30 feet wide , do you think it will be easy to land this plane safely on a strip of this size ,or should i forget about buying the Zero?

Once you get used to flying this bird. you will have no trouble. I would suggest the first few flights at a larger field so you can get the feel of the take off and landing. I believe the landing will give you a challange. The plane is a floater at 21lbs. Flaps are a required, with a little power to bleed off airspeed so you don't tip stall. Don't forget about 1/8 down elevator with full flaps.
cheers,
Bold Pilot.

If you are an expert flyer it just might be possible. As for me I know I would not be able to do it. We have a 600' runnway and at time I us most ot it. Good Luck

Hi Nils. I have a 500 ft grass runway, and I use less than half when landing. I do not fly your Zero, but I have a Dave Plate and Bert Baker Zero.I hope you have some what of a run off at the end of your strip, should you loose an engine on takeoff? Take Care Capt. Winters

I made a platform over the engine. I have my extra weight as close to the fromt of the cowl as it can get.

I have to add about 3 to 4 pounds what are you using to obtain that kind of weight, lead sinkers or 1/4 oz squares?

I have found an inexpensive way to make lead weight. Go to a tire store and ask for the old lead weights they throw away they gave me a pail full. Heat them with a torch ( plumbers torch nothing fancy) in and old iron pan and pour in a metal mold ( metal cover ) A 4# weight cost me nothing. Fly it like you stole it!

I like using 'useable' weight, like larger capacity batteries, larger displacement engines, smoke systems, redundant packs....but only when I absolutely have to

I maidened mine today. All went pretty well. I felt it was a little tail heavy as I had to feed in down elevator trim as the flight went on. Bold Pilot was right on about the 1/8" down elevator with full flaps that worked perfect. For the CG I had to add about a pound and a half of weight to balance. I mixed steel BB's in a ounce and a half of slow set epoxy and filled in the front insided perimeter of the cowl. It worked well. The motor is a 3 cu in. AirHobbies twin cylinder. Retracts are SpringAir 400 series.
The Emperor would be proud.

Check it where the wing meets the fuse.

Where the fillet intersects the leading edge of the wing is your starting point.

By the way everybody assembles these ARF's differently. I wouldn't worry about the weight, I would put the CG the most important. Mine flies great at 21lbs. It is a real floater.

I initially had to dial in a lot of down elevator to fly this plane level. I found my incidence angles were off. The wing was the problem. I added a 1/8" shim to the saddle to get the front of the wing down and that corrected the problem. Flys really well now. Elevator is now nearly level.

The air system in the fuse contains the filler valve to the air tanks and the quick disconnect for the wing. I buy most of my airtanks at flee markets that’s why two small rather than one medium tank. I used to put the air and filler all in the wing but as time goes on finding and replacing the leaky lines is much easier with things spread out.

Hi, I'm new here just looking at all the nice builds on this plane.
I have the same kit and am wondering If any one has tried to get a spinner from Yellow air craft?
It's the only place that I have seem one that looks scale, and I'm curious how much they charge seeing as they dont have prices on there web site.
thanks
