Stoat:
Just absolutely amazing. By far the best weathering I have seen on this forum for sure. I'm still confused. Are you saying you layed fabric over the wings and airbrushed in edges to blend or you masked off panels on the wing as it came and airbrushed in the edges to look metal.? Did you scratch out all panel lines and rivets( maybe its white underneath) or paint them? I'm not familiar with this grime and dust or grime and rust paint. Is that the actual name of the paint and is it that close to plane color or is it because you diluted it so much?
I gotta do this,( if I ever get my bay doors working properly as so I don't burn up servos)
Thanks
Marc

RE: ESM 50cc Corsair
Marc,
no its all just smoke and mirrors! I have not added anything to the airframe except the weathering paints. All the dark bule is the origional paint the plane came with. The lighter fabric panels are just paint. The dust colour is a kind of milky white, grime is slightly more grey/brown but still whiteish, and rust is just that - a brown/orange colour. The trick with weathering paints is to thin the paint at least 50/50 with thinners and spray lightly. This lets the background color show through so the paint then becomes a tint of the origional color. Yeah, Dust/Grime/Rust/Engine Black are the actual name of the colours. Check out the Testors website.
The silver chipping/flaking/scratches are painted on with a fine brush. I do prefer covering the entire airframe with silver paint or actual metal foil first then chippng off the top coat afterwards, however in this case I just couldnt be bothered as the origional paint was pretty good.
I didnt think the weathering was that flash, but I tend to be very critical on what I do. Maybe I should do a more in depth video on weathering and post shading?

Stoat, very nice wheathering!
If you do a video, why not hire a good looking kiwi-girl to do the talking ?
She could show us the finished parts too, you know, while do the talking.

I ordered mine from VQ today! I'm going with a DLE 60 twin. Looks like I'm going to have to cut the cowl like Stoat did.
How is VQ's customer service? This is my first order with them.

Sweet! Should be very nice with the 60 in it! I only just had the plug caps sticking out so fingers crossed you will get everything inside the cowel.
Thomas at VQ is very good. Everything I have got off him has been tip top. If there were delays he let me know and kept me up to date with progress.
Welcome to the world of the Corsair!

Fingers crossed for some nice flying shots with all the weathering done this weekend... Might have to sacrifice a goat to the weather gods......

Frikken superb! Nudge, you should be well pleased! Your Horse looks really nice with good "sit". The weathering is spot on. I bet Pappy would get a kick out of it if he was still around....[8D]
