hello.... i was just wondering if anyone had such bad luck with the redcat racing product like i did??
i bought a tremor xtg truggy 1/16th scale and from day one i had problems as soon as i filled up the gas tank there was a leak it wasn't sealed good and there was a hole then all the screws had bad thread on them so i had to replace for bigger screws so it would hold the parts..then my clutch burned out and when i ordered a new one it came without the spring everything is made so cheap on that car and brakes so easily well basically i just had a horrible experience with redcat and to be honest i would never deal with them again does anyone feel the same way??

im almost there as well,i have had nothing but problems.after i replace the trans and if i dont get at least a week of running without a problem,im done with redcat as well.but i got my fingers crossed in hopes that after this i can run the darn thing until iBREAK it.not just falling aprt cause the quality of these things.
but all about fun hobbies(wade) and everyone else says you need patience and pratice.
i know im bout to go put a savage in layaway and if i have a ton of problems with that, then it all falls on human error and i will have learned a good lesson.
also i wouldnt call them great, maybe decent for the price but not great. these things are hardly ready to run out the box.

ok, I recant, decent, there decent for the money, lol.
Savage is a GREAT truck, but straight out of he box yu need to put a piece of fuel line in place of the brake arm spring and make it longer than the spring or your fist run will be your last, becase you won't have any brakes with out putting the fuel line in there. also lock tight the motor mounts and drive cup screws. check your radio, we have sold one or two here and there with bad radios out of the box. double check the spur gear mesh. after about 6 or 7 tanks check your high speed needle to be sure it's not leaking fuel, might be bubbling very slightly around the screw head. there were a few other things we've run across but I can't think of them. if I think of them i'll pm you so you know to check them out.

I. Prob ran the damn thing only a few times its soo cheap that even the screws used to screw the engine on the engine mount broke I mean everything on that thing was bad I would take it out and a new problem would accour but I have to give it to them they are fast anyways I sold mine yest because it was a piece of junk in my opinion and redcat claims to have a great warrenty but when my gas tank was leaking I called them up and they told me to send it the old one and they will inspect it and told me I have to pay for the shipping which cost more than a new gas tank and if you order from redcatracing.com they messed up my order 3 times......wow never again bad bad bad I suggest anyone who wants a redcat racing car don't even think about it put a lil more money and get a traxxxs or somthning because you will end up spending money fixing the damn thing after every run

LOL, there called ready to run because they come wth every thing you need (-fuel and a starter kit) to add fuel and go. there isn't a single brand out there that you don't have to do some sort of prep-work to before running it. I don't care what anyone tells you, i 've sold enough of all the different brands to see it. there's always that one or two that are just jacked up from the factory.
as far as traxxas goes, don't even get me started on what over rated crap they are.
the best bang for your buck is gonna be the savage, once you get the few kinks worked out right off the bat, mainly the fuel line on the brake linkage and the locktighting of the metal to metal screws, they are kick ***** indestructable wheelie monsters. if you can tune good you can get it broke in properly and make it hit a wheely in first and econd gear.
besides all of that this a hobby, you have to love working on them as well as playing with them. if you don't like working on them or aren't good at modifying or jury riggin on the fly, then chances are this hobbies probablly not for you folks that don't like those things.
They are minature trucks man, think about it. what do you think would happen to your jeep if you did this kind of stuff to your jeep. it would be brake down by the time you were done.
think about this too, your putting, in some cases, as much as 2HP @ 30000+ rpms to a nylon spur gear and thin steel dog bones, no to mention the torque factor on the diffs and transmissions. I think for the money you pay any redcat especially the 1/8th scales is a good deal.

shoot i love tinkering and tweaking,i already modified a savage xl fuel tank and air filter to my volcano.i think its just the lack of having to wait for parts instead of being able to drive 2 mins down the road and get them.its now been almost a month and ive spent most of that time waiting on parts(not that you dont ship quick) i just hate waiting. i think thats my main problem.
so what savage you think is the best,i was thinking about the savage x.
oh and if you could post a link or email me the start up procedures on the savage, that would be great. thanks

I've sold hindreds of redcat cars, all he models and hundreds of other brands, but the ones I see the most returning with problems needing work or always broken down are the traxxas cars. 95% of the repair work I do in my shop is traxxas cars, tranmission problems, engine probles, easy start(what a piece of cra* that is) problems, servo problems and the list goes on and on. the minimum bill hasn't been under at least $100 that's the smallest bill on parts and one hour labor @ $15. if you honestly think that your gonna be better off with a traxxas or whatever you choose your way way off base. every brand has it's problems and some problems are more expensive to fix than others.

savage x is the way to go and get the robinson racing steel spur gear set when you get it, if your dealer doesn't sell it let me know I should have sme in sock, it's a very populair upgrade, the nylon stock gear is great, but the engine has too much power for a nylon spur gear.

I heard traxxs was good but I was just useing it as an example and I did have fune fixing the redcat car I actually learned a lot from it breaking all the time but maybe your rite maybe I just got a bad luck car and the savage looks great seems great......and yes rtr is bs you still have to do things to the car its not like you put fuel and go. I think they put rtr for people who are not sure bet gas or electric so they put rtr to attract more attention towards the fact that you don't have to do anything to the car because I am sure people who don't know about these nitros think they are a bunch of work so when they see rtr they go for it

traxxas is a good example of pulling the wool over the cnsumers eyes, lol.
here's the other reason thre called ready to run. because the kits, like the savage x kit, come in a million piece, therfore they are NOT ready to run and the ones already built ARE ready to run, that's the idea, but couple in the fact that they are probablly putting hundreds of them together a day and simple human error at the factory and your bound to have a few problems here and there. that's why it just good practice to get in the habit of doing the initial pre run inspection before the maden run and everytime there after.
