RE: another darn ryobi post (ryobi performance modification, analysis and comparison)

Hi all,

I'm getting out of wet power and going all electric. I'm selling my Ryobis. Both the ones that are presented earlier in this forum are for sale. Check out the ad over at RCGroups....

RE: another darn ryobi post (ryobi performance modification, analysis and comparison)

I might have a reed valve and back plate. I'm sure none of the pistons and rods I have are any good. diceco

Hi av8tor1977... You may have mentioned before but what are the vital specifications and the manufacturer of your ryobi equiped Tigermoth?

Thanks, diceco

RE: another darn ryobi post (ryobi performance modification, analysis and comparison)

The compression and power will improve as you get more run time on it. In general I've heard that gassers will improve power output over the course of several gallons of fuel burned, although I've...

See post #294 in this thread for the CR of the later twin runner T port cylinder with the two ring piston

RE: another darn ryobi post (ryobi performance modification, analysis and comparison)

I've been building up another Ryobi 31cc motor over the last couple months. This one is an early long shaft, although not the earliest. The crankcase has a bolt on fan shroud, a single transfer port...

RE: RCGF Engines

I have a reasonable idea of how our little two stroke airplane motors work. My post was entirely factual without any exaggerations. I had high hopes for the Aerovate 28 and have no reason other than...

RE: another darn ryobi post (ryobi performance modification, analysis and comparison)

I use a single cell 1800 mah LiPoly battery to power my CHXL (essentially an RCEXL) ignition. It weighs a fraction of the weight of a NIXX battery and it runs fine at the lower voltage. Check out the...

RE: another darn ryobi post (ryobi performance modification, analysis and comparison)

I would think that area of the cylinder would run pretty cool what with the cool intake charge flowing by it and it being pretty far away from the combustion chamber. I only rounded off the blunt...

RE: another darn ryobi post (ryobi performance modification, analysis and comparison)

Sounds like you got'r covered Jim....

If you're interested in doing some transfer port entrance smoothing ala post No 145 I'd be real curious whether it's worth the effort. When I did mine I...

RE: another darn ryobi post (ryobi performance modification, analysis and comparison)

It sounds like this is the late model Ryobi. It IS a good candidate for an R/C motor. It already has good compression, The piston has better support with the center web between the transfer ports....

RE: another darn ryobi post (ryobi performance modification, analysis and comparison)

I'm sorry to say that your slotted cylinder is not a good cadidate for an R/C motor. See posts 120 and 145 of this thread.

RE: another darn ryobi post (ryobi performance modification, analysis and comparison)

As far as I'm concerned I've done all I can with mine.

1) It's a late model with the integral fan shroud
2) Bifurcated transfer ports with substantial radiusing and smoothing of the webs at...

RE: another darn ryobi post (ryobi performance modification, analysis and comparison)

It is curious that pereivers performance RPM numbers are so far below what we are getting.

RE: another darn ryobi post (ryobi performance modification, analysis and comparison)

captinjohn.....

Photos 3 and 4 look like a custom reed valve set up.... but are they made for the Ryobi?? I don't quite see how they would fit into the back of the crankcase.

RE: another darn ryobi post (ryobi performance modification, analysis and comparison)

A note on large bore carb replacements and chokes. This may seem obvious..... but maybe not.

I thought I'd recount my adventure with fitting a 12.7mm carb to the Ryobi. It's not quite as simple...

RE: another darn ryobi post (ryobi performance modification, analysis and comparison)

I'm also using a stock muffler with a single 1/2" outlet pipe. I just cut a bigger hole in the can where the original outlet was and stuck a piece of 1/2" EMT about a third of the way into the can...

RE: another darn ryobi post (ryobi performance modification, analysis and comparison)

Thats a pretty good summary JIMARRINGTON. See my .02$ below.

Perhaps it is a benifit in both regards, blow-by and compression. The stock single ring has such a huge end gap that I'll bet...
