can anyone tell me how long a replacement metal gearbox is expected to last? My Tigers shredded one in the past, so I replaced them both, now its done it again! I'm wondering if the brass 3 to 1...

I sprayed mine with Halfords red primer and then satin black. After a bit of running the paint wears off the treads and dirt engrains itself and it all looks really good.

thanks, they sell the Humbrol tank grey, I "think" this is correct (going by the 'ultimate model paint conversion chart'). Can anyone confirm this?

it doesn't really matter. Once I'd tinkered with them they work really well. Just wondered if others had the same problems before.

Well I finally killed my Tigers replacement metal gearboxes (ran dry on the right hand one and knocked all the teeth off the final gear!), so after a period of inactivity I ordered some new ones off...
