RE: Big MIG 061 with tank mount...

I bought one of those and only use it as a test stand. Its mounted on a plywood box. I use it to break in new engines.

RE: 1/2a Models in Magazines

If anyone needs a basic Ugly Stick type fuse, the Half-A-Stick, RCM # 607B ,looks good. It has an extended nose or you can use a conventional short nose. Its long and skinny and should be quick with...

Anyone fly today?

It's amazing what getting in two or three good flights can do to help lift your spirits. There must be some kind of "happy" chemical gets produced in the brain caused by flying little airplanes.

RE: 1/2a Models in Magazines

Andrew, That is quite a list from RCM. I had no idea there were that many.
I'm in the building mode right now for # 693 "Schoolyard Special"

RE: Norvel Cmax.061?

Why would you want to use a car engine on an airplane??
I would spend another $20 and get a Big Mig.

RE: Norvel's A6R AME .061 R/C vs similar sized engine

Since this thread was first posted I bought a .049 Big Mig C/L and a .061 AME and love them both dearly. The .049 is great for 2 channel (aileron, elevator)flying, you would have to fly it full...

RE: Enya 15, any good?

Not very powerful but will probably out live most of us.
I still have my .15 III from the 60s, but lost the head. It was a C/L engine and I put a K&B carb on it. I flew a Top Flite Headmaster with...

RE: what kind of starter - os.15la

I would use a standard size starter with a .15
Just be sure you can flip the prop over with your finger before you hit the starter. The OS is a much heavier engine than the little 1/2A size, and...

RE: Hobbico EP to glow conversion

How much does it weigh?
It's about the size of a .40 trainer, a .25 would be a better choice.
I had one and strained the heck out of my arm trying to hand launch it.
It has a very strong...

RE: AME .049 on a Giles 202

It might fly with a TT .07, let us know how it turns out. If it does fly I guess the TT will gain more respect.

RE: Babe Bee .049 vs. Black Widow

The Babe Bee that I got last year was exactly like the Black Widow they have a black tank now but it doesn't have a prop spinner, just a screw. The last time I ran the Babe Bee it turned 13,500 with...

RE: AME .049 on a Giles 202

No way will a .049 fly that airplane. I put a .074 Norvel in one and it flew very well, but that would be the minimum engine size. I don't think a .049 would get it off the ground.
You can do a...

RE: Got A New Norvel .061? Here's Some Advise!

my .061 AME started out as a C/L and was changed over to a carb after around 10 runs.. all I did was hold the carb down and tighten the screw. I haven't had any problems with a loose carb. I haven't...

RE: Any Help Please

I use a 2 oz tank and that is enough for a 15 min run. I have used AA alkaline but you would be better off with a 250mha nicad battery pack.

RE: Will the .049 Cox be discontinued?

You can find AP,Cox, and Norvel engines at quantummodels.com
The AP engine is made in China, has ABC construction, can run happily on 15% fuel. Good power with a 5x3 Cox prop.

RE: Taking cylinder off a Cox .049 reed-valve without wrench provision

How about a flat wood stick through the exhaust ports?
The screen is probably to prevent a fuel fire. I heard that is what the slits are for on some engines. They do catch on fire, ask my neighbor.

RE: Norvel big mig .061

Iceman,
If you don't have a 1/2A starter I would buy the one made by Sullivan. Don't use a full size starter, If your engine is flooded it will not stall like the small one and bend the rod. I'm...
