RE: Symmetric airfoil

Doesnt matter, if it where possible to install some AoA sensors on your model I guarantee that they will say it has some AoA even when it looks like its not got any, it doesnt take much at all to...

RE: Symmetric airfoil

Actually the problem isnt as bad, sure you lose lift, BUT you lose it on both sides of the rotor, so that means the heli will not try to roll like a single main rotor would.

RE: Symmetric airfoil

The guys at the club are fixed wingers first, helis second, so I would try to talk about things that are related more to planes, but in R/C modelling this only really crops up in blade tips, or high...

RE: Winglets

My final year project was about this subject, and I used a wing that was approxmatly the scale of an R/C model wing, I managed to design a winglet that decreased drag by approximatly 8% at positive...

RE: Symmetric airfoil

I was thinking about mentioning things like compressability (for heli rotor blade tips) the reynolds number, the drag polar, that should make their heads spin:D

RE: CG vs Airfoil

Yes, but I was trying to not cloud things either, the two are related, one changes and the other changes, CP moves - moments change due to bigger/shorter dimensions from the CP.

RE: CG vs Airfoil

CG placement, you should also consider how far the CP is going to move forwards when the AoA is at its greatest, it could move so far forwards that it moves infront of the CG, so during straight and...

RE: Symmetric airfoil

This is so funny, just last week I was attempting to explain this subject to some people I fly with, I said to them that if you have a completely flat wing or a symetrical wing and that if its at...

RE: are there any 1/200 or 1/144 scale 688i models out there

cheers, I have had a look and did a search for other models by trumpeter, but no western subs

Im not sure how big a 1:350 LA class would be, but i dont think it would be big enough for R/C

RE: Revell

i want to get into R/C subs, and I dont see why not, but i wouldnt bother putting all the tiny little bits on, the force of the water on those little bits will break them off
