I got an apache and its slowww but i killed the stock motor , so i put a titan 12 turn in it because i saw it in the villain . its a little faster but sometimes the motor runs fast but the boat is going to slow for the amount of noise its making any reason why . I think its the prop its to small so i might get it changed but what do you think it is . I might go brushless what motor and speed control do you recoment and do i need to change anything else .

SRT10, there is not set angle or height for these boats. Go to the pond/lake, atke some tools and play with the angle/ height. If its starts to cavitate then the prop is too high. If the nose is in the air then the angle is too low. Its trial and eror. But when you fing the right angle you will know it[>:]
Hendrick, it sounds like the boat is cavitating the way you describe that it makes more noise than speed. Try playing with the strudder angle as described above.
Good luck!!

you won't want to run the stock hardware with brushless power.
You will need to buy either of these:

http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...prod=sol-hydro

You will need a strut, rudder, a bracket for each, a flex cable, teflon liner, sturring tube, motor coupler, and some 1/8" ply to put inside the transom to reinforce it, and some epoxy to glue everything together.
Go to the OSE (off shore electrics) forums and read about how to install everything. (there isn't going to be anything about the apache, but it's basically the same for all single drive cats.)

another noob here to the forums, and first off i would like to say excellent info here and keep up the good work! now with the questions!(lol) on the apache has anyone had issues with sloppy u-joints causing excessive noise/vibrations?? i have had mine aprox 8 months and ran scores of cells through it and already working on trashing my second replacment u-joint (that seemed excessively sloppy right out the package) bummer! So now my thoughts are omit the darn thing altogether, which poses its own set of problems. with a 3mm drive and a 3mm propshaft i cannot seem to find anything in a flex cable that will fit into the stock stuffing tube, even checked w/horizion hobby on a flex shaft w/collet for miss llumar but the cable measures 4mm. no luck there! E-mailed steve @ ose about the .098 flex cable and he says too small in dia. for the power. does anyone know of metric size flex cables 4 sale? If not, would wire drive be for me? and what kind of power can they handle? i'm also not tooo worried about the bushing dia. in the strudder as i have reamers for .125 and could open her up a tad(thanx pa, mister tool and die man!) Also somewhere up in this post someone has been running 2200 3c lipo in their vessel as i also have tried a couple times and each time it has came back in to check temps (esc and batt normal motor hotter than usual) and smelled funny, no performance issues, smelled like hot brushes or could it be from oiling the motor bushings heating up when running higher voltage?? just curious doesn't smell on normal 7.4 voltage THANX PEEPS IN ADVANCE AND KEEP THINKIN OUTSIDE THE BOX!

Just scored one off of Ebay for $114 shipped, new, but its missing the reciever. Got to love Hob-E-Mart! They have great stuff.
Going to throw a 27 turn modd motor in it and play with some props. I'm excited because because now I can have fun at the local park which has a nice long pond without getting dirty looks from people like when I rum my 40mph BJ26.
Going to add cooling to the esc as well athe brushes on the new motor. I might throw a purple, plastic, stock BJ26 prop in it and see what it does. Might even see if I can find the BJ26SS running gear to throw on it.

I would use one of these:
http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...rod=octsb-x632
And replace the drive shaft with a flex cable.
You will have much less friction in the driveline for more runtime, longer motor life, and a tad more speed.
Running this on 2s wouldn't be a bad idea.
If you are going to replace the hardware, get some real stuff, not another steerable outdrive.

Oh, sorry. Thought you were talking about the electric.
Stuff looks good!
Cool price, too:

As for the lipo, that's not really for speed records. Especially with that motor.
I was saying that the boat will like to run more out of the water (lipo's weigh less) and you would probably get more runtime. Seeing as this is a sport boat, that seems like a good idea.
I'm not sure how the SxS packs will do, ideally you would have 3 cells on the bottom of each sponson, almost touching the transom to move the CG back to where it needs to be, instead of the stock location.

Hey guys. I run my apache with a 14 turn double motor on a 12t modified esc. It absoloutly flies! I also run a 7.4v lipo and converted Motor and battery plugs to deans ultras. The Deans have made a massive chnge on my temps and i can get like a 4 min run without gettin 2 hot!!!

Her's mine!Flex cable routed through stock rudder that's fixed in place and then added a pro boat turn rudder put a extra section of plastic behind the back of the hull wall to make the rear stronger... One thing now i am wondering if i should cut off the fin as show in the photo?...Or will this fin make it more stable in the turns?

setup?

Sure 2800kv brushless 540 motor watercooled with 1/8 shaft. 60amp watercooled esc on a 3s 2200 25c lipo pushing a stock prop. Thats it! I get about 10min on and off the throttle, 6 mins full throttle balls out. Temps are 120degs battery, 80degs motor, 70degs esc full out racing.

How did you manage to run it full out for 6 min? Looks like you are on the thottle for 1-2 second max in the vids. I think you could use a bigger lake.
