How did you manage to run it full out for 6 min? Looks like you are on the thottle for 1-2 second max in the vids. I think you could use a bigger lake.

LOL not in the video another day with out my wife videoing silly! I wanted to make the video for a friend to show him the torque and I chould flip it with just the throttle. And yes a bigger lake would help.

I just purchased a Apache 24 and was wondering if a Lipo battery would work with the stock ESC and motor? What motor upgrade do you suggest? I'm new to the RC world and am not sure about Lipo batteries and whats required to use them.

While I have been recovering from my surgery, I got the crazy idea to put the Titan 12T motor and XL5 esc from my old slash that I sold a while back in the boat. Man, it was freeking awsome. I only ran it in my pool, which is 30 feet long, on 2S and 3S. 3S was defenitly the ticket. The motor got a bit hot and allmost fried because I was running in bursts up and down the pool so it wasnt cooling right. I'm also using the stock cooling coil which isnt efficient at all. With good cooling even on 2S its a great upgrade and cheap! Teh ESC is water proof so that isnt an issue.

I dont have any picturs but its teh Traxxas Titan 12T motor. Its the same length as the stock boat motor. The XL5 ESC isnt water cooled nut only got to 98* with 3S running it in bursts up and down the pool. So it should be fine running consistantly through water with an eficient way of cooling the motor. I'm going to see what I can com up with for cooling it. Maybe soldering some cooling tubes to the motor some how.

Is it possible to use a flex shaft but keep the steerable outdrive? I'm working on my brother's Apache right now and the stock driveshaft and U-Joint has to go but he doesn't want to spend the money on the fixed outdrive and separate rudder right now.

Running a Traxxas Velineon motor that I had just laying around (with a little bit of shaft cut off) and the ESC out of my SuperVee 27 on 6 cells NiMH and everything else stock it gets up and goes pretty well. It needs to be toughened up a little to handle the power better and get a better prop but otherwise it's cheap, fun, and moves along quite well.

Wwy does the steerable drive have to go? I have a BJ26 with the same strudder and an OS .18 and it handles the power just fine at about 35-38MPH. Save him some money for a 3S battery instead and just keep the drive. My $.2

Mostly, the driveshaft has to go because the motor end is wrecked. The grub screw in the collet came loose a couple times and has rounded off the flat spot and rendered the shaft almost unusable. Instead of repairing or replacing it, I figure it should be upgraded instead. Spy has assured me that flex shafts are a better and more secure way to go, and i tend to take his word on things like that since he has more experiance than I do. Eventually a fixed drive with steerable rudder will be done, but I am not sure if the extra money will be justified this summer, since there is only a couple months left before the lakes freeze over. Of course, if the flex shaft is not going to work well with the current drive setup, I will just go ahead and buy the stuff now and get it over with.

For the time being I think we should just replace that collet with a better one from OSE. We'll have to cut the sucker off since the grub screw is rounded over but that's fine. If the shaft really is borked we can always grind a new flat spot into it and keep using it until your U-Joint disassembles itself. Flex shafts are much tougher than the stock setup but IDK about steering with one.

Can anyone tell me if there is a problem running with a 28 turn motor, with a 35a ESC, with a 3s lipo? Does the radio cut out? I am sick fast with the G-FREAK stage 1 setup on a G-FREAK 3s lipo but the radio seems to stop working as soon as I get full power. Can anyone help?

Here is mine converted with flex shaft and steering rudder i made my flex shaft go through the stock rear unit and locked the rear straight so it can't turn and used another steering rudder for steering. BUT you can use a flex shaft and have it steer with the stock set up if you wish to.

What radio system are you running because my stock radio will go for a min or two. Then it just stops and servo twitches for a few, then it will take off for a few more. As long as im real close to it, it will keep running what do you think? Is the radio going bad? I really love your video mine from what I can see almost hops up as much at start then it will die out at about 100 feet before I can even turn it around. I did turn it atleast once and flipped it.

Hi I use the 2.4 taktic or tower 2.4 radio they work great.
Your reciever may be messed up from water try opening it up and spraying it with corrosion X or even WD40 and put it back in the boat.

Take sticker off motor clean sticker off if some is left with cleaner and coat it with a thin coat of silicone shock oil and place one of these water jackets on.

Dropping down to a 7.4 35c  lipo when it comes in. Debateing on going even smaller like maybe 7.4 2000 mah 25c lipo. Your right I do have alot of power running in it right now thats why I cant open it up all the way, plus Ive got to get the computer usb from castel to program it the way that I want it to run. Right now its running on just factory settings but that will be changeing soon.

Hi with that hight of KV 5700 you should use 2S and the biggest that will fit in there and the highest C rating because it will be pulling a lot of amp draw.
