Given my motor ESC and batts what size prop would you recommend?

Im running what I believe is a 42mm x 1.4 Pitch prop?

Decided today was nice enough to try the beast yet again. So I spent about 2 hours charging batteries while doing some work to insure the motor was secured.

When I arrived at the quarry there was a lot of divers. I got the boat tossed into the water and got about 2' off and a diver popped up about 20' from my boat. I came to a stop until he noticed what I was doing... This is a public county run facility. The divers practically take over everything... And I got a little upset this guys just going to op up out of nowhere... Finally he went back under and found the ladder out of the drink. I commenced the run.

I got a little bit in and had the first problem. The boat acted like the transmission was slipping... Wait it doesnt have one...

I brought it in. Somehow the prop pulled up off the drive dog and was sitting on it instead of engaged in it? I didnt assemble it thhis way- I dont think. So I rotated the prop and hand tightened it (no tools next to me). A little more run and same thing. That props now junk...lol

I got 2 videos today. The G/F found out how to zoom in while doing movies right at the end... lol

Update with vids tonight!

It sounds like a soft plastic prop.

You need a Graupner K.

Part 1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJdQZ1uSMjw

Part 2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xjwPpBHEO48

My issues are ironed out except for prop. Im not liking my center of gravity either. Im not sure what to do...

That boat looks good. I would ask him what the diameter and length of the motor is so we can get an idea if its truly suitable for the boat. Also what props on it (size and pitch). Outside that the ESC might be a bit on the weak side, 3S only for sure... I had 60Amp with my motor and i fried it. This is only 70A... Maybe ask about an upgrade to 120A. Ifnot maybe a boat without the ESC/Motor but that exact setup?

That motors probably a 380 sized (28mm dia) and only 58 mm long. I went an extra 10 mm and I think thats where its at. If you need bigger it has to go to the 36mm dia motors... its your call really.

I think that boat would be a very good start for ya. you will find yourself doing some tweaking. This isnt a plug and play boat- but with a little bit of easy work its water worthy. If I had my purchase to do all over again, I would probably go for that boat you listed without the ESC.

I've been following this thread as well, I bought that exact one from ebay I should get it this week.

Basstronics, The motor is a 10 turn, 41 AMP Max 2881Kv, 380 sized motor 27.6mm X 58mm. (www.fsd-motor.com)

I plan on using 3S lipo, and upgrading the esc once the included one blows, lol.

Basstronics your boat looks real good, watching your videos made me finally go ahead and buy mine.

Also
Do you have any other links related to this boat, I would like to get as much info as I can about it. Thanks

I think this threads the most complete on this boat. I know theres a very little bit over at Offshore forum. Also R/C Groups has a thread on it titled "bulletproof" I believe.

This threads where its at though.

I might get mine out again this weekend. I have one more prop to play with...lol

That motor doesnt seem to bad. Mines just a tad longer with a tad mroe kV. Im swinging a fairly large prop...

I would go for that $210 boat. its got a good motor mount thats water cooled. Got the water cooling jacket. Its all assembled with turn fins and trim tabs.

YOu can always get a bigger motor if you need more speed. Hobby King.com has these motors for like $30...

mnavelski mine got here today it looks pretty good the ESC does NOT have BEC, also it does not appear to have any cut-off settings for 3S lipo, only for 4S to 8S Lipo or NiMh batteries. I will scan the manual later today and post some pictures of the boat.

I wonder if it would just not work with a 3S lipo or just that it would need a separate lipo cut-off....

Well...

I need to order props... So while Im at it why not a motor?

http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...idProduct=6674

Im sacrificing some rotor length for a greater diameter of rotor, but I think this will be a nice motor to try.

The kV is slightly more than what I currently have. Its heavier for sure, hopefully the weight pays off in thrust

Time to make this hull go ballistic!

Im making the decals myself, Im waiting for more vinyl this week so I can finish them. I assembled the rear today, also removed every screw and added a bit of blue thread lock. It'll be a few weeks before I run it, I still haven't ordered the battery and UBEC. I also need to get some velcro straps for the battery, cowl locks and some styrofoam.

I can wait to get it in the water.

EDIT, Pic of finished decals

Well Im going to have to guess today was my last run. I know I said that about 2 weeks ago and since have gotten in 4 more runs, but the water is just frigid now.

This time I tried the stock black 38mm Dia prop that 785 has been running. It came on the boat and is actually a 3/16" prop. I made the adapter tonight.

This thing went absolutely crazy on that prop. Unlike the other prop it didnt just get up and fly. it cavitated for about 1' then launched. The water was slightly choppy and I flipped over twice.

Cant wait untill spring! I will also have 4 more boats hitting the water then!

Hi guys.
Good to see this little hull still evolving in a few different setups.

epa4wd

This was posted by Riverrat in the 'A LIPO issue' thread .

[link]http://www.kintecracing.com/Supervee_27_upgrades.html[/link]

The lipo shield is about halfway down the page. It's cutoff value is set at 3.3v per cell. better than the version that I have which is 3.0v per cell. That's the one to use if you're going to get one. That ESC may not run with 3s lipo though if it's not shown in the specs. Check with the manufacturer first. It doesn't show 3s in the manual either. Sorry.

Basstronics.

How are you.
I did try that prop once but now that I'm running the Ammo 2300 I'm using the X637 prop.
Try sharpening the leading edge of the blades a bit & you can coax a bit more speed out of it because they're very thick & blunt, at least mine was.

After looking at the prop lst night I agree. Could be sharpened up some.

Im done for the winter now unless it gets unusually warm.

Next spring it will be time to test with a new motor

era4wd nice boat. just a word of advise wouldnt waist my time with 380 size motors to get the performence you want go with a 540 s-l size will draw less amps. i run a ammo 2300 it pulls a max of 42 amps and iam only running a 45 amp esc and it has never gotten hot.i have seen some of them 380 motors pull over 170 amps on 4s
and my boat does a constant 43mph with a pranther 215 prop have had it 2 49mph but doesnt run as well

Yeah that ebay one was the one I bought and posted pics. I'll be getting a battery next week so I can finally get it in the water.

Steve441 very nice boat!!!!

Quick question, I've heard that using spektrum is not recommended, is that true?
