The salt idea works ok as well.
The trick with salt is to crush it in a morter and pestel first, then put it in the tube.
This gets rid of the small air gaps between the salt grains.
Make sure it's packed in there tight, use something to pack it down in the tube then bend it.
Cheers, Brett.

Nice job h2oskier,
Looks like it's ready for the hardware soon!
Have fun fitting it out, that's half the fun.
Cheers, Brett.

Motor Mount and Stuffing Tube in place. Allignment is very good and shaft turns nice and freely with a slight positive angle at strut - (not shown now but I will post a shot of the angle) The pencil mark is about where the hole for the servo will go - COG should be good as lots of room at sides for 2 juicy 3 cell 11.4V Lipos (Parallel) that can be strapped in right to the transom if necessary. I am getting a nice low-profile hi-torque servo that will be mounted close to the transom as well. Any suggestions or advice - It's not too late to re-adjust - Steve

Thank you. I got all the hardware mounted on the transom and will start mounting the engine and other internals this this weekend. It's been a fun project so far!

h2oskier.
That is indeed a sweet paint job. I like the way you've highlighted the lines & curves of the hull. Much like the way a tight fitting red dress does on a fine looking woman.
Steve441.
It's all looking good.
Don't forget to put a smear of silicone sealant on all the bits you are bolting on.
I epoxied a piece of 1/8'' ply on the inside face of the transom to strengthen the area after the rudder hit a submerged stick or turtle & cracked open the transom. Just a security thing that you may want to consider. Might not be required where you run.
Cheers.

Yes - I have looked at the Mystery ESC and am considering it closely - Would I need to water cool it? - Here is a boat with a set-up similar to the one I want - I am sorry to say I cannot give the credit for the whose boat this is but as I recall it belongs to a very wise boat racer. What say? Thanks - Steve

As I don't follow this mega thread on the 25" Prince (I was pointed towards this post on a Durch FE forum), I'm most likely a bit late to respond...
If you follow the basic set-up rules for a monohull, you can use a solid shaft and omit bling-bling, like trimtabs all together and have a well performing boat with a maintenance free drivesystem.
Let me know if you want more info on my set-up on the boat in the picture, a BK-Xcalibur (63 cm , 24,8" long) a single stepped hull, formerly with a 700 Neodym on 12 NiMH, now with a KB 36-60-09L, 2700KV on 4S Lipo and a watercooled Mystery 100A ESC.
Mind you, a non stepped hull is slightly more prone to porpoising than a stepped one.
Regards, Jan.

Thanks guys - I shall follow all advice - I rambled on a great post but got timed out and lost all data so here goes again - Great Paint h2oskier!
Jan - See the boat posted now that I used your great advice building last winter - It's got a wire drive (runs like a dream) and goes great - so cool I can prop it up some more - Thanks Bro - Steve

Hi - I was saying the reason for all the bling on this new boat I am doing is because it's for the old lady (well she is 43) and I thought she would like it - and I had the parts from before anyways. I do like the clean look these hulls have with only the stuffing tube and rudder. Steve

If you all don't mind me asking again.....Where can I pick up a flex collett? I want to try to find one with quicker shipping than from Hong Kong. Head of the River was great, but I can't wait to weeks for the part.

Thanks Paul, but I don't see any 4mm shaft to 4mm flex cable anywhere other than Head of the River. Is this an overseas specific size? Should I swap them out now for something more common or am I just missing something? The drive hardware is already mounted on the stern so that is what I am going to use if it is compatible with another cable and collet.

There's also Allfield R/C.
The collet was posted by HOTWATER on your collet thread. But check out some of their boats too.
The problem is that this one might be out of balance or off center like the original. Both of mine were in the Prince & the Apparition cat. I replaced them with octura ones from OSE.
The flex is .150" & my motor shafts are 5mm. Is your motor shaft 4mm or 5mm? Either way you must order the right size.

It may be worth thinking about a bigger motor , most people change to a 540 size and most come with a 5mm shaft ( you will buy a 4mm collet fit it to the motor try the boat and want more power)

Well I've had a good look through the sites & it seems the only one with a 4mm shaft hole is the one from Allfield. Does the one you've got have a 5mm hole or is it just fractionaly larger than the 4mm shaft that makes it off center?
Whatever you end up fitting don't forget to grind a flatspot on the shaft where the grub screw bites so it doesn't slip.

My 380 has a 4mm shaft, because the collet I have goes off center when I tighten the allen screw and must be a 5mm. I can't afford to buy a bigger motor now and wanted to try the 380 first. I ordered the collet from Allfield. According to the site it says "Your order has been successfully processed! Your products will arrive at their destination within 2-5 working days." I don't know how that is possible, but we will see.
Thank you and sorry to be a pain.

No pain here man.
I don't know where Allfield are based but I buy stuff from Hi Model in China & it's in my mail box here in Australia in the morning 3 days later. So, have faith & you might be pleasantly surprised.
