Tom,
are you saying that the planes comes with both single and twin seat hatches?
A comment on the Tiger Scheme, Stripes a bit bigger/longer and a darker yellow/orange base.

Tom,
I was just looking at the pic some more, (gota get this plane )
and noticed that there are both hatch covers in the pic.
The plane is sporting the twin seat hatch,
and if you look at the hatches hanging in the back ground,
they look to be for the single seat.
(Well they might be.)

P-51b...looks like its time to spend some money! Tom called your bluff!

No Bluff here. I have been looking at wildhare for a while now, and considering a composite...this will combine both positives.

I agree on the scheme comments.

If it can look more scale (colour-wise), I am in for a single seat version. (particularly if I can get a "color-scheme-finder's" discount!!!!!!)

The hatches hanging in the background happen to be the same color, but they are for the Planes Plus Edge I believe which is made in the same factory, they are the wrong shape for the Sukhoi.

That is my favorite of the bunch as well! I'd buy one immediately like that as soon as they hit your door.

Tom, I have read this thread and you said earlier, that if you wanted, the plane can be fitted with a ZDZ80, if taking care of power management, will the airframe stand the ZDZ80? And will it balance ok without having to load it with lead?

It's a pretty large plane for 87" span, and quite strong. Probably the only change for a ZDZ-80 might be a stronger wing tube. It ought to balance without anything but shifting stuff.

I have a few questions Tom. I may be getting over the fact that the louvers won't be cut and I'm ready to accept having to cut them myself to get the scale type look.

I don't know a lot about plastics but have had good success tinting canopies. Will the Sukhoi have "rails" on the canopies? I prefer a tinted vs painted canopy (haven't had good luck with the RC car tint) and I might be tinting this canopy.

Also would like to know if you have a construction manual we could preview. I know you expect the shipment late this month and I would like to start planning for the build.

After flying Tom's Sukhoi with the G-62 in Dallas when I was there, I don't see there being any problems at all with the power of a ZDZ 80. If it were to be mime, I would prefer to keep the plane lighter with a smaller engine only because lighter flys better, but the 80 and the airframe would compliment each other.

Thanks, I asked because i have the ZDZ80 and don´t have the budget right now to buy another engine. And the fact that this is a Sukhoi and not another Yak, it is getting hard to find a composite Sukhoi of good quality. Well the truth is that this is the first one I have found and it comes from a quality brand name that you can trust. I hope it doen´t take too long for it to be available.
Thanks again.

FYI, the quality of the prototype is very, very good. Should it be better in the production than it was in the prototype, the quality will ve very high indeed.

I don't know what you mean by "rails" on the canopy.

I have not finished the manual yet. Look at any manual for a smaller Comp-ARF plane with a round wing tube, construction will be almost identical. My manual, however, will be simpler.

Tom,

The canopy looks a lot better with the rails on it. Personally, I am not a big fan of the checkerboard pattern on the rudder, but otherwise it looks pretty good. Any chance that you might just get some all white ones and let people paint their own stripes?

I was refering to the above post. Also in the picture in post #29 of this thread there are "rails", canopy supports, or whatever they may be called. The EF Yak canopy has these and I was trying to find out if these would be there also.

I read that post, then I went and read the EF Yak manual. I still do not know what you refer to as "rails".

The Sukhoi has a composite canopy frame that mounts to the top of the fuse with 6 plywood tabs that must be glued into the frame sides. The canopy itself mounts into the frame from underneath making a very clean and simple installation.

Tom I think he is referring to the yellow frame in the forward section of the wind screen in the full scale picture. Are the lines molded into the plastic to simulate this structure?

No, those lines are just painted on and actually are not even on the canopy as delivered.

Tom and Silversurfer,
After flying this plane, how well would you say a DA-50 setup will do?
I hear Silversurfer saying go the lighter route and just wondering.
Tom I hear your thought also Evo 58, the engine I was thinking for this plane.
The ZDZ-80 would be wild also though....
Need more input . . . .

A picture IS worth a thousand words ! Thanks. Now I'm off to sell blood so that I can fund the prize for mstroh3961. Wonder what .50 will buy?
