RE: Is Hobbico dumping Super Tigre glow engines?

In my opinionn two things are driving away the glow engine; no place big enough to fly the bigger glow planes, but even more than that, the cost of the fuel, which has quadrupled the last few years....

RE: Photo upload problems....

So, if the server problem is corrected, will the 'lost' photos on previous posts be recovered, or are they just gone?

RE: The Weirdest use of Glow Engines. is this for real?

Because when the piston lowers to open the exhaust port, the ports for the incomming fuel/air charge are open at the same time, a supercharger would simply push raw air/fuel right out of the exhaust,...

RE: Why do you build and or scratch build?

I enjoy building as much as flying. I started at a time when r/c kits were rare and expensive. To this day, I build my own cars, guns, computers, homes, whatever I can. As far as ARFs go, I guess if...

RE: R/C Airplanes are not toys...

I just smile and say Yes. When asked why, I just tell them 'because the F18 Hornets the Navy gave me just aren't a challange anymore, an I find r/c to more difficult than the real thing.' Try to do...

RE: Torque Rods! Love 'em or hate 'em....

Torque rods came at an early time in r/c, when equipment was heavy, expensive, and transmitters were very limited in their capabilities. Torque rods worked very well then, and still do for many...

RE: Cheapest RC Pilot Out There

My late grandfather taught me a thing or two about 'making do with what you have'. This was a man who made a living in the electric sign business and had lived through the great depression. He could...

RE: cleaned an engine in prestone and it blackened ... what to do ?

Phoenixangel, would you mind explaining this process a little further? For example, what to use for abrasives, ect.? I have the equipment to do this, and would never have thought of it. Thanks.

RE: Senate passes NDAA

There's no telling how the justices will rule on something like this, however, it seems more often than not, they serve the interests of the president who nominated them as opposed to what the law...

RE: Heads up elevator failure JetLegent Hawk

If you are worrying about critical structure failures, rather than photographing or x-raying an arf, why not just build it yourself? I have built all of my own planes, never had a problem. Not...

RE: Black Friday Deals, just a heads up...

Neither the media nor the government will admit the truth as to how bad the economy really is. I'm afraid it will get MUCH worse before it gets any better. I don't know of anyone who can afford toys...

RE: MonoKote will not shrink

I keep wondering how long it will be before TopFlite, Great Pains or whomever owns Monocote now, to see a big enough finaicial loss via lost sales to admit they have a problem. I also can't help but...

RE: if your glow engine was in your car

Glow engine in a car? It would work ok, however, you'd need a 500 gallon fuel tank filled with $24 dollar a gallon glow fuel in order to have a viable range. Almost anything is possible, the question...

RE: MonoKote will not shrink

The new Monokote is expensive junk. It will not shrink aat all. If you do put heat to it, it just wrinkles, and burns. The sad part is TopFlite won't acknoweledge they have a problem, but rather try...

RE: Glassing with Deft 101

Thanks again Gene, please keep us posted about the weight gain if you can. I always thought fiberglass had to be used with polyester resin, or epoxy of some sort. LOVE the calender!

RE: Goldberg Sukhoi SU-26

Bigal126, how did you select an airfoil for the stabilizer, and did it do anything for the flight characteristics of the plane? I have often wondered about this, and almost all kits and plans call...

RE: Airplanes, Airplanes, Airplanes!!!

Edited to add... I agree with Testpilot, just gotta have burning fuel beating on a piston. Just me, but eletric power leaves me flat... sort of like an electric 'Smart car'.

RE: Airplanes, Airplanes, Airplanes!!!

Building larger r/c aircraft seems to do something for me that not much else will. I started out many years ago with 1/2A freeflight planes that I scratch built from plans. I have left the hobby from...

Looks real good, Gene! What did you modify, other than full sheeting, to accomodate such a large engine? I look forward to building mine, maybe this fall/winter.

RE: Club FOX!

NM2K. where are you guys getting these Ultra Thrust mufflers? I tried Googling it, and came up with Performance Specialties, but they don't seem to offer anything at all for sale.
