I am running a 1320 mAh/ 11.1v 3 cell with a e-flite 400 outrunner on a 11 x 4.7 prop and a castle creations pheonix 25 speed controller. I don't know if that helps.

marks90004 - did you ever get the prop changed? How is yours coming?

Hey guys, well I've maidened my ultimate today. My first flight was pretty bad... I was running a 10x4.7 prop and then at full power I could hardly gain altitude, only on the up wind. So then I landed and changed my prop to a 11x4.7, there was quite some difference there. I didn't need to fly at full power but at 3/4, still pretty bad, but that was the only prop that I had at the field that I could change for the 10x4.7. So next time I'm going to be able to put a 12x6 on it and see.

And for checking for my draw, when I was running my pheonix 10 ams esc with the 11x4.7 prop, I ran it for 30 seconds at full power and there was no heating at all, so i'm pretty sure that putting a 12x6 on it is going to be pretty good.

For flight performance asides the lack of power. I got to say that this thing is a FLOTTER, with just a little power it would just come down like a piece of paper, very slowly. With the 11x4.7 prop, I could manage easily a hovey a just just one click under full power and it was pretty easy, there was no need for me to use ailerons to counteract the torque of the motor, and just a little up elevator.

I think this plane is going to be pretty good after I put the 12x6 prop on it.

Thanks

I think that you will hurt the performance with the 12 x 6 prop as you will loose a lot of prop wash when hovering and other low speed manuevers. I am using the 11 x 4.7 after flying with the 12 x 6 for a while. Thats what I think but let me know what you think after you try it and tell us what you find.

Hey Guys,

So I've ordered the 12x4.5 prop and still waiting for my LHS to get it in. Till then, I decided to add a little up thrust to the engine. I don't know if it's in my head, but I think that it cured the nosing over problem.

I'll give you guys the update as soon as I get that prop.

Here is some vids of the eflite ultimat FX flied by my bro storyteller in OC Ca. The plane is sweet powered by a eflite 400, has plenty of poop and nice clean edges:

Hey

How are you guys doing. A little off subject - Does anybody know what happened to QQ's BYP yak, I seen it advertised before but I cannot find it anymore. I really like the looks of the FX and the built up fuesalge though. I have QQ's yak 54 and it is a very nice plane. How would you guys compare the FX to some of the other bipe foamies like the

Chip Hyde Fore Play
Flat Out Bipe

Also has anybody had success with using anything larger than a 1320 Lipo without having a weight issue. The reason i was saying this is because i was considering the 450 instead of the 400. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Scott

The yak byp's release date has been moved to May.

As for how the ultimate compares to the other bipes, they are a totally different style. The ultimate really is more of a scale aircraft. Its kind of like a class in between the foreplay and the mini funtana. It can do any 3d manuever but it won't do it as easy as a profile, however, it can handle some pretty strong winds and much harder crashes. I fly it indoors as well and it does great. Whenever you get an airplane that is scale you always sacrifice something but with the ultimate the sacrifice is extremely minimal with some plusses in other areas. I have heard of some people having success with a 450 motor and if that is what you really want to put in a plane then this is the bipe you should get. Either that or a mini funtana or fliton extra.

Here's the update on the Torque Rolling problem.

I put a 12x3.8 prop on the FX and the change is like night and day. No more loading up then snapping into a torque roll. The prop made all the difference in the world. It almost hovers it's self. Thanks for the advice Ion.

By the way, I'm running a Eflite-450 outrunner. Way more power than needed. 1/2 throttle on straight and level flight is way more than you'll need with this motor. Hover's at 1/3 power. I guess if you really want the power, it's there. But I hear the 400 works just as well.

I am glad you got it flying good. I have a park 400 outrunner on mine and it runs great. Thats a good thing about this plane though, if you want to put a much bigger motor the plane can handle.

To all,
I am building this plane as we speak and was wondering if I can use regular styrofoam as just a gap filler if cut thin enough. This is my first foam aircraft, as I am stationed in Korea. (I couldnt bring any of my big gas burning babies). I am to the point of putting the Hor. Stab in and to get it even with the wings I had to sand to the point of leaving just over a 16th of an inch on one side. I am using foam safe CA. Thanks in advance.

Regular styrofoam as a gap filler would be fine as long as you use your foam safe CA. There are other things you could use but the styrofoam would be best to keep it light. Let us know how yours flies.

I have a quick ? for you all that are using the 400 920 kv on this plane. I just test flew mine for the first time. WOW!!! I have never had a plane go from the bench to the air W/O any needed trim. Not to mention I was hovering about 5 min. into the flight. Anyway, after about 10 minutes of just playing around at 1/2 throttle or less I landed to make sure everything was still in good order. E-flite 20 amp ESC, and TP 1320 3c 11.1v Gen3 cool to the touch, the motor however I couldnt keep my finger for longer than a second or two it was that hot. I am using a 10x3.8 APC slow flyer prop on it. This is only my 3rd electric and have had no problems like this before. Any thoughts? Is this normal for this motor? Thanks in advance.

I am flying the fx and it does fly very well. I have the eflite 400 outrunner and it does hover well, but does not pull out as fast as I would like. Also Knife edge flight on this one is not as stable as say the eflite yak 54, or the eflite profile Ultimate. The FX wants to tumble toward the belly on right rudder. I am using kokam 1500s and thunder power 1350.
It does very well in most aspects but anything complex using rudder seems to get an F in my book.
I am going to check out extra stiffy. From what I hear getting one seems to be the only prob. 3DAP

Back to my question in the previous post? Do you have any kind of heating issues with the 400? I have a cap and the e-flite p-47 both have the 450's in them and I can run them at 3/4 or more throttle and neither get even closse to being this hot to the touch.

I don't know that much about the electric motors but I think i could be the prop you are using causing the motor to spin to fast. All I know for sure it the recommended prop for that setup is a 11 x 4.7. That is what I am flying. Mine hovers at just over half throttle but that makes finding the sweet spot easy and it still jumps out of a hover great. Maybe you should try one and let us know if that helps the heat issue.

I am not having any overheating problems as of yet. Castle creations 25 amp esc and 11x 4.7 prop. So far everything not to hot to touch. Have you tried any other prop? 3DAP

I maidened my Ultimate FX yesterday with an e-flite 370 geared motor, a 12 X 6 prop and a TP1320 mah li-po. Results: did not fly very well, nose heavy and motor got real hot even though I had a heat sink installed.

For the second flight this morning, I added weight to the tail to get the CG more in line, changed the prop to a 12 X 3.8. It did much , much better this time with plenty of power to hover, fast climbs and regular aerobatics plus the motor just got warm, not hot at all. So I think this is the perfect set up for me.

Question: Has any of you had the same CG problem with your Ultimate FX? I hate to ad weight to the plane, but could not figure out how to place the battery in a different position to correct the CG problem.

Hi. I want to buy this plane. This will be my first eletric. I already have this equipment:

Great Planes ElectriFly C-35 Mini Brushed ESC w/BEC
FMA Direct/Kokam CELLPRO 1500mAh 2S Pack
4x Futaba S3110 Micro High Torq Servo 7.7g
GWS Naro Receiver 6-Channel Horizontal Pin Futaba

My question is: can I use a brushed motor/2S lipo with this plane? Which one should I get? And what prop and gear box should I use?

Anyone flying this plane with an Axi 2208/34? Stick mounts will keep a constant thrust line.

Anyone here flown the Parkzone Typhoon and can compare this to the typhoon's performance?
I'm thinking of running this plane with a 1320mah lipo/4200kv Inrunner brushless
What do you think?
