I have got the Gator soft and safe mount. Havent tried it yet.
Would have thought that the Weston one was fine as you have the engine inverted, though they do allow a fair bit of movement.

The gator soft and safe is what I had in the Funtana with the L and it was pretty good. Nath prefers it over his model composeti thing which was about 4 times the price.

Sprink what mount are you using? IH recommended the Weston one to Simon
Motor mounts ar about more than you think;
o) Cost
o) Weight
o) Too soft
o) Too hard
o) Fixing
o) Torsional support
believe it or not a hard mount can be better than one that it too soft... depending on the model.

Archie, not much point arguing about what IH did or didn't recommend, but certainly Simon bought almost everything he needed for this plane from you, almost gave you a blank cheque, servos, rx, prop (still waiting for one from you BTW), HD switch, etc.
So what engine mount would IH recommend for Simon's set up?

I weighed the Gator, came to 170 grams, but that was still in the bag so take off say another 5 or 10 grams and it sounds pretty good to me. That includes the T nuts and bolts and everything. So not bad for £35 or so. And due to its design, does not allow much movement at all.
Seems a bargain compared to the Modelcomposeti/Hyde mounts.

Got mine from Probuild http://www.probuild-uk.co.uk/ They do still list it, current price is £38.
Otherwise you could contact Gator direct and see what they say about shipping to the UK. http://www.gatorrc.com/
You can order replacement rubber grommets as well if they wear out.

Colin . agree.... as for blank cheque... well he got a blinding deal if I recall rightly !
Anyway.... IH is not "recommending" ANY engine mount..... you need to have tried them to do that... However, the HYde ARI definately works well, so you could say that is a recomendation.... far too expensive for my taste though.. I will be trying that ZN one I posted a picture of some time back..and will feedback on how it is when the time comes.
We are getting a Gator one too to look at.
Weather totally pants here today and we are sposed to be having a Heli Comp today !
Flew my C50 again the other day Luke after a long while.....definately prefer that 14x5N.... you done any more comparisons to the 13x6....? Oooh ang on I should have asked this on the other thread - maybe reply to that Q there Luke........ save me re posting !

The benfits of the prop seem to be more noticable when i finally got to work on thottle curve adjustment.
The prop seems to pull the model through manuvers with slightly more authority particularly at a more controlled low speed.
The funny thing is that the saito swings the 13x6 at around 10k rpm , but the 14x5N at only 7k rpm.
It does however shift a lot of air and vertical acceleration with the 14x5N is just as good.

Sigma signwriting? I've always thought of that
I think they or some other simular business did those two mermaids on some big glass ship, It was featured in RCM&E...
(Glass ship as in some big 25% to 40% plane, not a boat if you are a little confused...

Yes, you can use it for electric and it is more quieter than the IC version. You'll need a charger that can charge Li-pos preferably, Li-Pos are best.
What do you need a big payload for? Camaras? This plane is basically a 3D plane that needs to be light as possible, sure you can mount a camera if you like but the vertical would be effected if its excessively heavy...

You're hav'in a laugh.
Wants a very large light weight plane to carry a heavy pay load that is also very quiet, to fly in the Bagdad dessert area. Hmmm, a 140 Capoodlebug.

That was Hindi or Urdu ,doesn't sound Iraqi to me...
Your Li-Pos probably would explode in a crash, because of the added heat.
In the UK, we have a term when you get "shot down", someone has used your freqency at the same time and your plane crashes. I suppose where you live pro3d things become a little more frank.

I suppose the reason he wants Li pos is because they explode
The extra payload is for the charger and 12V lead-acid battery to overcharge the Li-pos at just the right time before impact

just an fyi, if you are trying to blow something up here, the rc hobby is a very ver y expensive way of doing it. you can't possibly pack enough explosives into one of these things without spending thousands of dollars to get it flying.

Did a bit more covering on the wings last night, started on the underside. Starting too look good
There be a brief interlude while I cover my PRAT (thats Pylon Racing Advanced Trainer) and work is just a real bind at the moment (don't like doing six day weeks [:'(])
