hey guys chill out a bit,the best way to tint your canopy is with the tamiya smoke tint spray,i use it all the time and works well, you just build the layers up to get desired tint[8D]but then again ive got the carbon one for my 140,nearly finished now, just finishing radio install, and then finish the covering scheme.

As Mikey said, just wet the outside. If it's really still too firm then try spraying with ammonia too, that'll definitely allow it to bend.
And re the Carbon canopy, or heavilyt tinted\painted ones, I have to say that I hate them. They just look so totally crap and false. Always seems to me that people who fit tinted or CC's are either crap builders or can't be bothered to even do a basic cockpit. A sign of laziness or incompetence as far as I'm concerned.
Course in Kane's case seems it's just another way to be flash and spend some more (of his Dad's) money.

With the canopy I feel alot of weight could have been taken out here. My smaragd canopy is very thin and about the same size as the C140's but half the weight.

I went for a carbon canopy, only to save weight.... and because it's pre-cut to be an exact fit
Having a clear plastic canopy would have meant the additional weight of creating a cockpit, seats, dials, not to mention a heavy pilot (if you want it to look the part).. but hey, this isn't a scale model, so we all do what we prefer!
Most home-attempted smoked canopy efforts I've seen look terribly botched [:@][:@] and can spoil an otherwise perfect model.
I'd just spray the inside black, or, like the Holland Zlin, Silver!
Regards,
Steve

thats right colin we worked for them .Me and my brother had crashed our EMHW Funtanas which me and my brother paid for our selves by selling three of our planes then bought them they had YS 140 L's in them and futaba digitals . We crashed them 5 months later one because a mid-air and one because the wing ripped away from the fuz doing a wall.6 weeks later our dad could buy some capiche's our dad asked us if we wanted them we said yes. so our dad said that we must help dig trenches and fill skips we filled two skips, we are still working for them a month later.

bribery at it's best - I can't wait to have kids.
I think you should stay away from walls Kane, you seen to have a bad track record with them!

Expect lots of help from your kids when they get a bit older.......
Here's my two inspecting the latest arrival in the Berk hanger!!
I'd given it a clean bill of health, but my 5 year old son was concerned that the wires going to the switch were a bit thin! (they are!)
and that there was no 'rubber bands' round the 'servo rod clips'...
On closer inspection, the kids had missed a couple of loose screws on the engine!!
What header pipe is a good idea for the hattori? in terms of noise and restricting goo to the rear half of the airframe, i'll get one!
Regards,
Steve

Depends which pipe youve got- either the 699 or the 698. the 699 is long and thinner and doesnt taper and requires a special cool manifold, which just slots in and out of the pipe directly with no fuzz or brackets. The 698 attaches to the standard YS manifold similar to an ordinary tuned pipe setup. I think both pipes and manifolds are stocked by islandhobbies and perhaps probuild

Probuild also do the new NHP manifold, which is less likely to break, but is more expensive.[

Was planning on doing a cockpit and pilot, but plane is already too heavy. Trying to decide whether to just spray the inside of the canopy, or fork out £45 for a carbon canopy. Must admit I'm thinking of getting the carbon canopy.
