edible chaeck your prices more often, the maximum you will pay for a Hacker C50 is £245 now. One thing though, the axi's have a longer spool up and spool down, having the magnets spinning that far out means more energy is needed to spin the prop up. With a C50 you'll get a harsher more rapid accerlation being an inrunner and gearboxed. Also with the dampening properties of the wooden fuse the noise difference won't be that great anyway.

The next job I have is to Chamfer the Wing Trailing edge...
Is it best to keep the chamfer angle constant??, or vary it along it's length to make sure the Chamfer ends at the 1/16th sheeting?
I'm erring towards a constant angle, but that might give an odd looking tapering line.
Anyone know paint matches for Pearlescent Purple, and Pearlescent white Profilm??
Help!!
Regards,
Steve

Ok I figured it out... Used the liteply root rib, and Balsa tip rib as templates, and made a sort of 45-35 varying angle chamfer!
Not as hard as I thought it would be!!

Steve

As for paint go down to your local halfords and get them to mix you some paint to match. It wont be fuel proof but youll get a perfect match and then just lacquer over the top. The yellow paint on the cowl on mine was done like this and it really hard to tell the difference bettween the shade of the paint and yellow profilm.

Luke,
I did read back a while that someone had matched Pearl white, and pearl Purple.... I think it was ColinM, I sent a PM but heard nowt.. so I dunno... our Halfords is a bit sh1te in that they need to know a manufacturer and colour before they mix it... they don't have any colour swatches in store!
Pearly paint / metallics needs a lacquer anyway.... so should be fuelproof.
Thanks for the steer

Steve

halfords should have a colour match book. Take some profilm along and match it to one of the colours in their book (which was in my case porsche cadmium yellow i think) - then they mix the paint.

Sounds silly, but take aload of the pearlescent purple and walk round a car park matching the trim with cars, when you find a match, go to the makes website and they should have the name there. Then you'll have a perfect match. lol

Just get another demented idiot to push you round in a wheel chair while you sit in it, and when you find the right colour say " I want that one", and I'm sure people will ignore you.

Well took the capiche out again today with the ys160. More engine problems and a deadstick have further highlighted problems with the swept back undercarriage- it may look pretty but doesnt make sense at all when i comes to taking landing loads, even when slowed right down to the brink of the stall before touchdown. As a result i have damage even to a re-enforced fuz and a bent wheel axle. I am going to put a proper straight leg undercarriage on it and get some decent carbon spats.
Going back to the engine the problem now is that the damn thing wont stop - even with the throttle closed right to the stop it will not stop in the air. Engine has been completely check and there are no air leaks whatsoever. dad says there is an adjustment stop which controls how far the throttle can close and has adjusted it so that the throttle closes even further than the stock factory setting, all to no or worse effect.[:@]
Apart from that the reliability and power of the ys is very impressive once you get fuel into the pump(which took 1 and a half hours). However i am finding i have to substantially decrease the throw of the ailerons due to the extra prop-wash going over the wing.

Wings Done.
7 1/4 oz each ready to cover... (luckily both same weight!!)
Ailerons next, then spray cowl & spats (Gear is mostly already installed!) then done!
I'm not sure how the bare wing weight is in relation to others... but i'm only just into my second 2 oz bottle of thin cyano & i'm sure most of that went on me![:@][:@]

Sounds right. The ailerons will seem heavy in comparison(need to be stiff)
All up with a servo will be around 13ozs [8D]
Interesting that you had to cut down on aileron throw with the 160 Luke
