im trying to set up my madness with a jr 8103. I have always had y rods on my 1/4 aerobats so i never used this feature. i do have them workiung mixing ele an aux 3. but the problem is they are not equal throws. An the aux 3 knob is active so i wanna turn it off thanks in advance.

Not sure about the 8103, the the 10X has a feature called "tail" that will mix them for you without a bunch of hassle. I'm kind of new to JR so I can't quote the exact screen etc. It may be in wing type if you touch page. Let me know_bob

On the 8103, you have to inhibit the knob for Aux 3. Then go to the travel adjust program and set the travel of Channel 8 to match your master channel (Channel 3, Elevator) in both directions. That's it.

Assuming the geometry is equal on both halves, does setting the endpoints mean that any point in between will be the same deflection on either side?

The only way you can guarantee this is by using digital servos and programming them for the same deflections. If you don't do this one elevator half may move 5% the other 6% and then you have a mini airlon working against you.

This I would assume take some sort of special device such as the HiTech? I use JR digitals but can in no way program the midrange so to speak

This is how you do it.

To set up dual elevator servos use mix 5 or 6 as this will allow your trim lever to operate both elevator halves. The Elevator channel is to be used for the Right elevator half, and AUX3 is used for the Left half. To disable the AUX3 knob, go to the Travel Adjust menu, locate AUX3, twist the knob all the way to the left and enter a value of ZERO, then turn the knob to the right and do the same thing. Make sure to set the travel rate value the same for both channels so they will move identically to each other.

The 8103 has a feature called "multi-point" mixing. If your elevator servos don't maintain the same position relative to each other throughout the entire range of motion, you can use the mult-point mix feature to set them up "dead-on". I won't attempt to describe how to do it here, but it's in the manual. Great feature! Great radio!

I messed around with that last night and just don't get it Say a couple of things that might help me to understand this feature.

Does the 8103 have the servo speed function? Look for code 24. It allows you to s l o w one servo down. We'll get it yet

The simplest way to do what you need is to use one JR servo on one side and one Hitec of the same speed and torque raring on the other side. Guess what, they move in opposite directions which works out just fine in this application. You need a "Y" connector of course. Vic Koenig
