Thanks 38, I will give that a try today and see how it looks.
For anyone wondering about the Saito 1.25, my flying buddy had one on his and he said he didn't think it would have quite enough to get you out of trouble or hover very well. Granted he only flew it a few times before it went in and he was using a 16X8APC at the time. SFG's can be deceiving, he came out of some rolls and thought it was wheels down until he pulled up. He was only about 20' off the ground when it happened and didn't have time to recover. Good news is, the wings survived completely undamaged, SFG's took a beating but are repairable. Mine came with the 1.25 as well, but I didn't try it. I put the SPE26 on it immediately.

What fuel was he using 30% or lesser nitro amount. The 30 really makes a saito come alive . Also the 16/8 is a llittle heavy for break in, should have been running a 16/4 wide blade or 16/6 .

Yeah we used 30% in all our motors while it was available. For some reason we stopped being able to get it around here. It was broke in on a stand on a smaller prop. Our problem is our altitude, at a mile high it takes alot from our motors. He now lives in Nebraska at around 1000' and says the difference in performance is night and day. The 1.25 spent it's first days in a H9 P-51 60 and the 16X8 was the best performance. And like I said he only got a couple flights with the Showtime and didn't get enough time to try different props.

NP BAS...
Well I balanced it and it doesn't seem right doing it inverted. When it's sitting level it will stay but if you tip it slightly in either direction it falls fast in each direction rather than come back to a neutral position. I did this with my first low-wing, a 4*60 and it did the same thing. By the way, I am using the GP CG balancer and have it set at 7 7/16". I will give it another shot when Mom is available to assist, lol, almost dropped it the first time. What a big plane...

Really? hmmm. Mine was pretty stable inverted. It is a little awkward to use that CG machine. I'm always afraid I'm gonna poke a hole in the wing with those red-tipped metal stops. I've got plenty of electrical tape, though.

So have we flown the showtime with the BCMA 26 yet? I have a saito 100 in mine at the moment (had the engine around), and it's a bit lacking in the power department. I was thinking of doing a small gasser for my next plane, but was also contemplating converting the showtime and putting the saito into something smaller.

I did finally fly the Showtime/BCMA26 combo.. I was using a XOAR 16X8 prop. and it just didn't seem do the job. Need to get it tuned in better and rebalance it. Still need to put another half gallon through it before it's broke in. I got some video as soon as I edit it down slightly I will post it.
A buddy of mine had the Saito 1.25 in his, which is also what mine came with, and he said it just wasn't enough to fly this plane properly. I didn't try mine though, put gas on it right away..

I've been flying this combo for 1 3/4 gallons now, and the performance won't wow you, but I'm sure it'll pick up RPM. It's spinning an APC 16.5x5 @ 8,000 RPM. I'm using 87 pump gas w/Pennzoil @ 40:1. I can hover at 80-90% throttle.
What's everyone else's engine doing?

Guess I'll pick up a 17x4 or an 18x6...or maybe a 17x5 or an 18x5. Maybe wooden? hmmm...[sm=confused.gif]
I'll just wait 'n see which one pulls the hardest.

hi guys' i'v got a problem and wanted to hear what you think
i'v started putting the saito 150 on the showtime and saw it wont fit in the original enigne mount (the holes of the enige mount in the firewall aren't wide enough so the enige dosent fit in the engie mount becuse the engine to wide), but if you push it into the mout with a little presure it will go in. my question is: should i drill new holes for the engine mount in the fire wall or sholud i just put the engine on the mount as it is, altought it's not a perfect fit.
also i wanted to ask what is the best prop for the saito 150- im goning to use the showtime for 3D mostly
thank

From: Center of the Flyover States,
Can you grind just a little amount from each side of the mount to ease the 1.50 in better? I have done that a few times if there is still enough mount left to have 4 strong holes through it. You probably don't want the tension of a forced in engine on the bolts as the vibration might cause your firewall to crack.

Yeah, just grind it. When I put the SPE26 on mine I used 30min epoxy and micro balloons to fill the holes then sanded and re-drilled.
Well hopefully the snow holds back a little today as I am off and will be heading to get some time on the Showtime. I'm going to try a 17X4W APC and a 18X6 if I can find one locally. Oh yeah, I thought I had the 16X8 Xoar prop on it and it was actually a 16X6, I had put the 16X8 on my FourStar.. So it was 7200rpm's with the 16X6 Xoar not the 16X8.

thanks guys for the advices about the motor actually i still have some problems with the engine but i hope i'll figure it out soon
anyways now i have a new problem- i'v mounted the rudder servo in the back and now the elevator is toching the ruuder pushrod when they are both in full deflection. the problem is that if i reduce the deflection of the elevator so it wont toch the pushrod i dont have enought deflection for some extreme 3D wich is what i'm going to do with these plan. do you guys have any idea what to do in this situation?
thanks again

p.s
i will soon uploud a picture of the problem

My Showtime was from the first run of kits and my rudder horn hole is drilled lower than what is in you picture. The nut washer is very close to the rounded part of the rudder. Mine misses by 1/8 inch at full deflection. I would just plug & re-drill the threaded rod hole. Should be a quick fix.
