For some reason only some of the Showtimes snap.

I've replaced all the hinges in my plane because, one by one, they all failed. Luckily, I was able to find 'em and fix it before a flight.

I got some hinges problems too. I replaced all for Dubro nylon hinges. Much more precision and durability.

I believe the snap tendence of some Showtimes is caused by CG problems. Mine was flying some months ago with an OS 160 FX without any mods. She was nose heavy and had a huge snap tendence.

Now I made some mods ( http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_75...tm.htm#7598780 ) and she does not snap anymore. CG is like manuals says (I think a little bit more tail heavy). Is the same plane. I Didn't buy a new one.

I had a snapping problem on mine on about the 3rd flight, turned out to be one of the Elev. servos was going bad and wasn't responding as fast as the other.

After one of my elevators came off due to the hinges failing, I replaced them with Robart-style hinges. It doesn't take too much time, and they aren't that expensive, so I highly recommend replacing ALL of the stock hinges, especially if you, or someone else, are planning on doing any 3D maneuvers. The stock hinges are known for breaking apart at the hinge line and for separating, (plastic inner layer separates from fiber, porous outer layers).

I like very good pull out from hovering. What is the recommended prop?
Not to heavy this enginse for ST 4D? 2.17lb whit stock muffler.

Says the rec. prop is 16X8. RPM's another story though. Says out put 3.1/15500 rpm and practical rpm range 2500-8650 rpm.. probably just a typo..

Yes, it will be enough. It will probably pull out of a hover pretty well. I'd recommend mounting it on its side, if possible.

took it to the flying club today for the first time, initially just to run the engine in on the ground but the weather was ideal for a maiden flight.

had 6 flights in all, i was a bit intimidated at first being bigger than i'm used to, plus the fact it's about £700 worth going up in the air. flew great and after the first couple of goes all nerves had gone.

power wise the MVVS 26 is amazing, after a couple of gentle flights i put the tacho on it and it reading 8950 rpm with the 18x6 menz prop. vertical performance is outstanding, i'm not too good at hovering yet, but it pulls out effortlessly from the brief hover i can do.

amazingly it only used 3/4 litre fuel, thats running 1 1/4 tanks worth on the ground, and then 6 x 10 minute flights

this morning i was doubting that i made the right decision, but now i'm so glad i got this model and engine combo

That is just great to hear. Did you notice the motor was getting stronger each flight? So what was the final weight? Yeah I love how those small gas motors just smell gas from the tank every few minutes

half way through the second time i ran it on the ground it got to a point where it would die from anything over idle, but i richened (anticlockwise?) up the low end and it seemed ok from that point. but after the sixth flight i noticed it was starting to hesitate on the low end again. still on the 25:1 mix and i suppose still breaking in so tuning is bound to change, i'm new to gas so will have to get some more tips from a couple of guys a the field

weight wise, i've just hung it from some fishing scales and its roughly 10 1/2 pounds

good deal V8. i set my high for max rpm and then slighly about a screw driver blade turn i richen up the high end. This small amount (a screwdriver blade) may not drop your top end RPM it just ensures you are not lean. Then i adjust the low for a good transistion from low to mid throttle.... Some motors are pickey about the mid range....

After assembling the plane( I did everything according to the manual) I realized that between the fuselage and the stabilizer elevators a little gap sprang up. What shall I do? How can I mend this defect? Shall I rotate the stabilizier tube and drill another hole 1- 2 mm closer to the fuselage or shall I glue the elevatorts to the fuselage with 2 sided tape or epoxy or other glue?

my showtime is no more[]

after being in the air for about 30 seconds, it seem that the engine died, and by the time i realised what was going on it had lost too much air speed and stalled and dropped. no chance of recovery as i didn't have the altitude to do any thing.

mainly Fuselage damage, fire wall detached, and snapped just behind the wings. one wing and elevator slightly damaged but nothing serious.
surprisingly the landing gear stayed in place.

reason for engine dying, was down to the fuel tubing on the clunk being not tight enougth. it had come of the pipe in the bung. my own fault as i knew the tubeing on the outside of the tank wasnt too tight and put clamps on them, but didnt think to double check inside the tank.

will price up parts tomorrow, and decide whether its worth getting a complete kit or not.

also noticed before the flight that the covering on one wing had lifted at the front edge and was flapping from the Prop draft, so it was quickly taped down. anyone had covering issues ??

Hi, I am looking at a Showtime 90 for my Saito 1.25. Is there a concise list of mods and recommendations for this setup? There are way too many pages to try to read them all. I would like to know if there are any kit issues and what recommendations anyone has for the Saito on this plane. I think the 1.25 should haul for this plane.

Finally getting started on my Showtime and noticed that the pushrod hardware was missing. So I ordered the Pushrod & Hardware Set (HAN2815) from Horizon Hobby and when it came I was disappointed to see that the swivel and ball links were not included. The manual shows them as part of the included hardware. Does anyone remember if they were included in the kit or not. I called Horizon and customer service was not sure of the contents of the package being correct or not. It's the only item on their web page without a photo. This is one sweet looking ARF.

David, I'm having a blast with my Showtime and a CRRC 26. Before the CRRC, I had a BCMA 26, and that engine worked well, too.

Doug, the plane should come with complete hardware. Pushrods, ball links, swivels, etc...

They should be included! It should have everything inside the box to finish the plane, less radio system and engine. For that reason it called ARF. Horizon is loosing the touch...

Yes, mine had all the ball links included if I remember correctly. I remember thinking that it was nice that they included some decent hardware... and then I saw the hinges... be sure to NOT use the CA hinges!!

What size Robart hinges did you use? The 1/8" seem small, but they are pretty strong.

I think I used the bigger ones. If you have the option, there's no reason not to use the stronger ones, really.

the Showtime 90 looks like it is on Horrizons Choppin block!!!!!
