Well, I finally got the cowl done and most of the radio installed. I need to add the throttle linkage and all is done. Then I need to go over the plane and use locktite and check everything over. I am shooting for next Sunday for the maiden flight. Hopefully all will go well! Been a long journey, hope it was worth it!

I still need to position the reciever and battery and secure them. The cowl isn't painted at all yet, but other than that it's done.

Hopefully I can fly as soon as possible. Weather here isn't exactly cooperating.

Default Great Plane!

Particle Man, your extra looks beautiful! I really like the tinted canopy! Hope weather clears up in your neck of the woods too. Where I live fog is currently the problem . Make sure to tell us how it flies though!

It looks great da king! Is the bottom any different from the top trim scheme?

I went and got some more green for the top of the fuse. The green on top will be outlined in black and i will have a black strip outlining the green on the wing too. The bottom of the fuse is just white and the bottom of the wing is green.

I am waiting for the windex to dry right now. Hopefully it will be dry tomarrow. Its trans over white. Dont know what it will look like. Hope it comes out all right.

I suck at schemes but this one is ok. Let me know what you think.

I have to order a glass cowl. Any body know what one weigh's ? The stock one is prone to cracking and its heavy. Just finished getting the radio in and hooked up. Have to set cg and finish throws. I will probably test fly it with out the cowl. This way i can get the thrust angles right, before i put it on.

I can't wait to see how she fly's. Should be pretty wild.

Here it is the final verdict.
lbs then oz's. Not to bad. I am jumping around like a kid.

What did you guys think of the landing gear mount block they included in the kit GP Extra 300 S .40? I thought it was ok but we fly off a grass strip and it has been dry lately and I tore the block out twice! Not much damage but just un un-necessary work. I upgraded it to encompass more of the lower fwd fuse. No problem now. It would tear out the vert. braces, the lite ply bottom and poke unsightly holes in the bottom of the wing covering. I would understand if I was pounding the runway, but it happened even on smooth landings. Maybe a large tuft of grass? Maybe some thing to think about beefing up just a touch before you fly? Anyway, King, I was expecting to read all about your flights and the performance reports. How soon? I have 40 flights on mine. Should be more but it's been too windy for the past 4 weeks. Let us know how it works!

Oh wow, sorry about that.

Ya i add some tri stock to the gear area. No problems with the gear pulling out. I haven't landed hard but its kinda hard to land hard when the plane floats in like a glider !!

I-mac.....the plane tracks like its on rails. Very little down when inverted and all most no coupling in KE. Up and down lines are nice and strait. Snap's were a little weird, they would take a little to start then they would just go! So i put a pull/pull on the rudder and they start "right now" now.

3D.... Pretty good. A little funny in hover. The harriers rock a bit until you get the plane right at 45 deg, then it locks in. Kinda hard to hold it there when you do a turn but it goes down the field no prob like that. Tumbles are really, really cool. All kinda weird thing going on there ! LOL. Flat spins are dead flat. Blenders look pretty sweet and are east to get in to.

The tip spin....................This move never fails to get howls from the guys in the pits. The wing gets strait up and down and then with a little throttle the fuse spins around the wing like a top. I do about half the alt with that and then finish in to a blender. Really pretty to watch.

I haven't flown the plane in a while do to the fact that i let someone at the field fly it and he flew it too fast. I heard it flutter and he back off pretty quick. He handed me the radio, I got 1/2 way rout a rolling circle before the motor ran out of fuel. So i landed. I checked it out when i got home and the right stab crack enough to allow it to flex about 4 inch's and on the left side, only one hinge was holding the elevator on. I have just been too busy to fix it.

Sounds like you were lucky that time. Could have ended up with catastrophic failure pretty easily. Glad to hear it all worked out and your control surface conversion was a success after all the scepticism you endured prior to the onset of your project! Just goes to show that there is a way to make most everything work if you have a plan in mind. Us aircraft guys are an inventive group aren't we? Now go mix up the air!!
