yep i cant understand it either runs well on a folder, put a normal prop on and it sounds like it has lost a phase and wont run!! put the folder back on and its OK Very Very Strange. I would not have believed it if I had not have witnessed it.

sounds weird.
only just joined this forum and its pretty big isnt it.
Capiche looks good... do we have any flying testimonials...
Tried to look thru this thread but theres a lot of it and a lot of crap on it too so sorry if Im asking same questions.
I heard some people speak highly of it at Sandown. Heard about the wings coming off too but you explained that.
What did CPLR think of it ?

His words and I quote " OK!! Very good on knife edge and it falls in the stall well" ( harrier, elevator and parachute) You name it many terms for the same stunt
But remember it is not a fun fly
I was impressed for his first go if not a tad nervous LOL "Baron von knee knocker"
For me seeing The boy fly the leccy is as good as being on the sticks myself.
Ali M aint to sad either

Archie,
no Virus warning for me either, just 4 newsletters. No worries.
What prop would you recommend for the Irvine53 in the Capiche to exploit its 3D capability ? I may either run the Irvine on the standard silencer or get a throttle pipe for it.
Cheers
Chris.

try a apc 13x4 ,should do the trick, the standard silencer is fine, the boy is flying his with the 53 ,seems enough power.mind you mine has got the irvine 39,with standard pipe 11x4 prop, pulls it well.

Hi all,
Just got back from the States, and I've now got a digital camera! And it seems grahamd1 has already started a great thread on building! Since its my first kit I'll be following this avidly!
Do you think 13x4 is a little big for a 53? I'm using a 53 and was thinking 12x4 was better?
Andy

the boy used 12,25
i think the 13x4 tips are too small, and the wide blade is too much for the motor;
if you want aero instead of 3d, fo 12x6-7 range
in my opinion..

Went flying yesterday with one of the Capiche's.
This is the one with the Magnum 61 RFS onboard, weighing in at 4lb 12oz.
I was wondering about adequate power on this motor, but instead I did a bit of prop selection testing instead. Ended up wuth a 13x6 on it. I would have expected this to be too big but it seems very happy and the whole thing pulls well now.
I set up reduced throws and adjusted expo accordingly and without moving the cg forward, which ultimately it would benefit from for sport aerobatic, just could not be bothered - i prefer it a bit back, and flew some pattern stuff.
Havent done it for along while so a bit rusty but after 5 mins or so I was getting back in the groove. It really does fly well as a mini pattern plane, and the rudder response is so pure that you can afford to make mistakes and then bang it back in the correct direction.
With this motor set up its just enough to pull it up vertical lines. For 3D aerobatics I prefer a bit more umph, but I will leave it as it is for now, cos its a real pleasure to fly.
I did MY FIRST PROPER LANDING yesterday too. Up to now they have all been harriers down on to the runway (Only flown it about 6 times). Wind was cross a bit, but I wanted to see how she behaved and went for the cross wnid runway. She crabbed in pointing into wind but with a flight path as required. 10" or so above the tarmac, bit of rudder, and she plopped onto the runway for a perfect 3 pointer. Held the rudder on a bit to taxi down to my end of the strip and she drove well too (steerable tail wheel).
This was the fastest landing Ive done with a Capiche and it was not fast really.
The more I fly it the more I like it.
Stevie Munns was flying Malcs Prototype Capiche yesterday too. Thats got a West 36 and Capiche Pipe on board. He really loves flying it, and is getting into the harriers too - did two touch downs yesterday. I rarely see steve do knife edge, but bugger me, there he was back and forth, along with all the tumbles and everything. It was quite cool actually.

We are in the process of bringing online the new galleries and other promised items - taken a bit longer than anticipated.
However, the Contact US page has been changed and we are looking for feedback on next steps from all of you out there.
Feel free to go to the site, and if you are not already receiving the newsletters then sign up at the same time, and tell us where YOU think we should take the Capiche next !
Cheers everyone..

Wahoo
a 3 view for trim planning?
i've got a pic of Phil and his all yellow Capiche and a Extra 300 layered under it and using the rubber right now to get an idea lol
will the Island hobbies sticker sheet also be on the 3 view for test placement?
I thought i knew how i was gonna do it, then they launched a graphics comp in the giant scale thread and now i dunno what im gonna do
I'll take a look in a min, the Capiche 50 looks like it's going to eclipse it's little brother, and we all know how popular that was

I was playing with that last night because you cant get a good image photoshopping peoples photos, tho you do get some realistic looks.
but i found the program too simple and limited, ok its free
i looked at redoing the bitmaps them selves, but without the plane for referance it wasnt much good, i'd like to see the plane represents in its side, top and bottom views which you paint, however you want THEN it shows you the 3D result.
you might even get closer with the programs avaialbe to modify planes on the Microsoft flight sims

Just browsing through the latest RCM&E, nice 2nd Capiche report btw.
Came across the Protech GS600 review, dun worry, not jumping the Capiche ship, im not mad!
But it had some nice links and horns made by Pete Tindel http://www.petetindal.co.uk/, looks perfect for my Capiche, or is this just over kill?£££
