I get rolling and pitching in knife edge as well I have to give left alieron and down elevator.
This keeps it on a straight track.
Ok I ran the JEN again today:
Fully sorted now runs great, 13 x 6 pulls awesome and in no way is it too much, this engine has a longer stroke thus more torque so it handles the prop with ease. As I was doing top end adjustment, I let go of the plane for a snap second as I usually do to see what vertical Im getting, the plane pulled away ([sm=thumbup.gif]) and began torque rolling nice and quick. A flying buddy at the field has two planes with JEN .56's fitted, one with a 13 x 6 which goes like a bat out of hell (a ready 2 mind you, in no way a light airplane!) and a 13 x 4 which has better throttle response. So as soon as I can find a 13 x 4 I shall fit it and leave it at that.

I need to toughen my UC as well, broke for the 7th time today![:@][:@][:@][:@]
Ok flight report:
Got to the field and started her up. Got the damned thing flying!
Had a blast, tried some harriers (dodgy) walls (dodgy) and even a parachute (dodgy), the JEN pulled it OK but not as I expected, Im going to do some more work on that but who cares it flew.
I decided to eff around alot and get my confidence up, its worked so far, got out of a dodgy situation.
The UC broke, well the wood plate is twisted to be exact but it still needs repair. I think Ill need to have a proper think over the UC as its pissing me off BIG time now. Ill see where I can jam in some tri stock (off to My Hobbies now see ya)
Shahid
Archie:Whats total cost of 3mm (fully threaded) rods again? including postage. I want to sort me alierons out proper.
Update: Got back from My Hobbies, with the Tri Stock aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand, after alot of thinking and chatting, a Graupner 12.5 x 5 prop. I am also looking to try a 13 x 4W and a 12 x 6. The 13 x 6 pulled fine, but the thrust wernt in the right places.

Flying scotsman def. go for aerofly pro.
Very nice pics eddy!
I'm suprised all these u/cs are coming off really. My C50 undercarriage has had a hell of abuse and hasnt budged, and is built stock.
Did one harrier landing into long grass at sandown and it was completely fine.

Erm, well I just ordered 20 plastic bolts yesterday. I am pretty sure they are M5 as well.
Sure the bolts might break, but I don't give a hoot as long as they save me trouble of fixing that silly UC which is at an angle now. So with the UC bolted on swept forward its actually straight...

Call me a pessimist but mine has been built with nylon bolts for U/c fixing, and a bit of strengthening around mounting plate, I fly off grass of variable smoothness and length and Id much rather replace the odd nylon bolt or two than have to fix bottom of fuselage after a less than graceful arrival!

After doing phillybabys mod (one liteply underside sheet, instead of the outer ply and two blasa pieces), the whole UC area was stronger, but what was happening was the the wood was twisting free, so it wasnt a clean break, the wood was compressed on one side and pulled free on the other. This is what led to my UC are becoming angled back. I can say this because where the wood had been pulled away the glue had gone (thick cyano). You coudl say that if I had used epoxy it wouldnt break but what about the other side?
The reason for this is that the outer wood parts jutted out from the actual UC block, meaning plainly it was unsupported.
So what Ive gone and done is put wood pieces and some tri stock in the gap area and hopefully no more breaks, coupled with the nylon bolts of course.
I spoke to an Irish chap visiting our field, he had a C50 as well and he mentioned that he used carbon cloth to strengthen the area. It still broke so I thought the problem wasn't so straight forward. On the opposite side of the spectrum people has mentioned theyve had no porblems what so ever. Not one break or maybe just the one...
The skills of the builder play an important rule here of course. There is no way to say every C50 that has had an UC rip has been built to a good standard, some UC breaks therefore may be to the builder.
Just have to wait and see

Nice codder Kane!
Yes, I tryed some harriers yesterday. Interesting stuff. Kept snapping off when I entered a wall though, dodgy wall mind you.
Id like to fly 3D with it when theres no wind around.
Forgot to mention yesterday, spins real nice! Though couldnt get it to snap maybe I was doing it wrong? (stick bottom right corners)

Kane: thats dave wilshires (i think thats the guy) C50? the on he did for the review for RCMW.
i got 2 short vids today, one 25 seconds me doing a low inverted harrier (which wobble lots less than upright) and a KE pass, but the cams got no zoom on camera mode so they seem distant, but they wernt. im trying to upload them somewere.
Foof, yes the cowl is on, but note the cable ties for the UC
this plane is so good to fly, i could not not fly it, so after the sellotaped UC, it was cable tied, hand launch, very soft harrier land

Where did u order the bolts from Shahid
These chaps are the dogs nackers, I get my glue and many other things from them as well. I meant to spend £1.20 on bolts (free postage) but I end up spending £17....

They give free bottles of glue on orders over £15 and their cyano is CHEAP and of perfect quality.

Sos, thats what I meant to say. Good idea with the Cable ties, my flip undies are held on with elastic bands. I haven't glued them in again, they just break away. After all, it is a fun fly!
But anything to keep you flying.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I tried on the new Graupner prop I got (12.5 x 5) and guess what? Its too big! I decided to slip some fuel tubing over the crank but not im thinking no thats a stupid solution because the fuel tubing will definately allow movement.
So thast £4.75 down the plug hole! Anyone want a Graupner prop? Pm me.
Ok so now Ill try the OTHER plan which is try a 12 x 6...APC
