solarfilm is lighter than profilm, but profilm is the superior covering material. It can take a lot more heat, and covers compound curves much better. IMHO its worth the little extra weight
you can also remove it from the airframe without leaving a horrible mess behind if you want to recover at a later date. Its also more expensive than solarfilm.

solarspan I think is very similar to solar film - anyone ?

Span is better than film.... I would not bother using film on ANYTHING unless it was electric or super light weight... there is very little strength in it and it tears easily.

Span is the same type of material but twice as thick as film... Not bad gear, but once youve used profilm, as ultimate says, it is in a diff class .

And a few more. The underside is Sprink style! The same colours as the top but visually very dif'rent, I hope! when exiting spins and tumbles.
By the way,I got all the accesories on this from IH....Axles,wheels,hinges,3mm pushrod set, heavy duty servo horns etc etc.And no I don't work or have any connection with them other than being a customer.

I really like the top half - clever use of colours with the carbon parts. Very sexy.

The underside doesnt look right for the scheme. Just my opinion though.

Looks fantastic Jim

Shame you missed out on the best dressed Capiche comp, I think you could have won with that. I may have to do something similar on my C140 when it comes.

Damn thats gorgeous. Id say thats one of the nicest ive seen so far. i agree with ultimat. The top is nice but the bottom doesnt 'match'. Was it based on Mike mcConovils extras and ultimates?

LOVE IT JIMBO !

BOTH SIDES ! I like models that look totally different one side to the other.... Would never have been my choice of colours but you have made it work REALLY well..

I dont like carbon comp parts in some ways- like cowl, but with the way you have done the scheme it really works - I tried doing the same with our elec one which is OK but not as nice as yours. see ours below

Sorry about delay etc - we have had a total mare over the last few days and this is the first time we have been able to get online since Friday... at even then its only at 44kps ! Frikkin telecoms !!!

Im hopping mad ![>:]

Peter will be back in touch with you real soon Jim...

I do like the composite weave patern. It looks very very nice. But its a shame then, IMHO, the Carbon Copy products aint that good. Its quite hard to blend into a good colour scheme. I dont like what paul skinner did and he had a nice coulour sheme and stuck a black cowl up front. Looked terrible[:'(]

Thanks for the email Crimbo card Archie, very festive

Would have liked a C140 in my stocking , but Sedcution Wildstyle and FunMaster will do.

Should be flying my C50 again tomorrow, hopefully will last more than one flight this time.

Merry Christmas every one.[sm=RAINFRO.gif]

No we gotta catch up on all the emails!

Sprink - never mind about crimbo, the 140 will be worth the wait....... I think we might see a few going together over here !

i never liked the stripes, but for this application it does work well and does exactly what it needs to, very stunning in these colours...
Would agree on the CC spats, a bit weak, but.. probably not made for grass fields.. still have to put mine back together for the 3rd time, thanks for reminding me lol

Ultimate.... I know what you mean about the underside, but I racked my brain trying to come up with an underside scheme that was chalk and cheese compared to the top, but without introducing any more colours as Iv'e been down that route before. I couldn't come up with anything that had a higher contrast to the top than this, so it won!
Eddy....tis not based on anyones particular scheme, just bits an bobs picked up and tried on Phillys plan views with felt tips.
Archie... the "bits an bobs" meant I trawled through the I H galleries and I certainly spotted your leccy one, and got ideas from it such as the black front to match the carbon and the rear decking.I know I gotta wait for the YS delivery now anyway, so as long as we sort something out before then, and I dont get swamped out under all the C140 pre orders!!!
Philly...I fitted my spats to the uc with a small bit of wet and dry cyanoed to the Uc.Grips the spat and stops any swing( done it before an it works great). Also the IH axles are just the right length that the end can be made to touch, and fixed to the opposite side of the spat, giving much more support and less chance of buggering up,I hope! I fixed it with thick cyano and zapper, so that its got a good fillet between the axle and spat. The spat is really held on now, flexing it sideways just causes the uc to flex.
Its covered in profilm, with approx 5 mm overlaps on all the joints.Glad most people seem to like it though.

mine also have wet and dry, only not cynoed, i have a slot the spats sit on and then the bolts tightened squashing the spats between large washers and the wet and dry.
unfortunately because the inside is cut [:@] they sit too low, not only for what i prefer as looks, but for the grass.
the sides also arnt strong enough. ok i did have a twist edge washer on before that cut through after a few landings. after the landings they've had i expected more strength, the joint for the two halves is extremely weak.
i'm going to lay a bit more cloth and epoxy inside, the amount that should have been in there the first time. ok they will weight a bit more, but they should last more than 5-6 flights now.
The spats are a must for the look, even if they are just £21 sacrificial items for that first good photo

try them on www.badgerbadgerbadger.com it's a bit freaky, but should entertain 14 year olds and upwards ( smaller kids might like the bouncy badgers, but check them with the cartton snake ). never more was a more pointless cartoon with sound track lol
i've got a few more fun things on my harddrive, will have to have a look.
