Hey Barry and all you other awesome flyers, (how's that for a promo?) How do I do waterfalls? and some of the other tricks you guys do? I gotta say that since I've kind of exhausted my list of tricks to do with the Do I'm getting kind of bored with flying it. [X(] I know, I know that's blasphemy but that's were I'm at. Then I see Gary flying his 2 feet off the deck, inverted.......[>:]

I did get a nice compliment today though. There was a guy at the field today that I hadn't seen in about six months and he said that he was amazed at how much better I was flying since the last time he had seen me. Okay then, so I feel about as low as a regular ant......[8D] Back to the sticks.

CeeGee...Don't get bored. Keep at it and push yourself. If you can think of nothing else to do, do it lower.

Waterfalls are really pretty easy. Takes a lot a elevator, and a powerful engine. I think you have both. I like to start them going pretty much straight up. From striaght up I give it full down elevator (3D rates). As soon as the plane goes over the top and starts going down I shut the throttle off. (keep the elevator full down) Then at the bottom as the nose starts to go up give quickly full throttle. (all the time keeping full down elevator) Keep full throttle up over the top again and repeat, repeat repeat. You'll usally after about one or two flips have to start intorducing left rudder as you apply the throttle. The idea is to keep the plane abosulutely verical orientation. By apply the throttle at the correct times you can tail whip the fuse literally in the legnth of itself. So what happens if you do them right is an end over end flip in the length of the airplane and you slowly lose elevation. If you do them right you desend very slowly but flip very quickly. Sometimes you can just stay stationary while flipping. That what I try to do at about 20' off the ground. If you can get 10-15 "waterfalls" and then pull out into a hover I don't think you'll be bored any more.

Another fun move is the rolling circles. I think this is the predicessor to the rolling harriers which I can't do you. The rolling circles are very difficult to do and maintain exact elevation and do a smooth circle. I'm getting better at them every time I fly but I still get kinda of wobbley tail as I go around. And if I concentrate to hard on controlling the tail I start to lose elevation and that's not good.

Anyways, waterfalls are easy to learn. Rolling circles are not. It's funny, when I flew this plane last (a few months ago before I crashed it) I didn't remember it doing waterfalls well. I think I've improved, not the plane. But now it does them easily. If you get the timing down you can really get them "snapping". Pretty cool looking.

For me there's always something I'm trying to learn. I try to learn or improve a trick every time I fly. Keeps it interesting for me. Of course, I enjoy the flat spins. KE, inverted flying, hovers and just general stick banging every flight too. But I do try to improve each flight. I always try the harrier too. It's very difficult with the UCDs. Easier with the Showtime. Pretty darn easy with the Yak, if I hadn't sold it.

CeeGee...Another thing that will keep you from getting bored is to use a mix and mix your throttle to your ailerons. Not a lot of people use that mix.

Also, sometimes I reverse the ailerons and try to fly. People do that all the time and crash. I figure I'll practice it and then if I do it sometime it won't be a big deal.

Another one...set up two of your planes exactly the same way with your radio and fly them both at the same time. A new take on pattern flying. That'll keep things interesting.

Nitro Dew...Another thing I was thinking about if I was building a UCD for the first time. Air flow. Especially with a 4 stroke engine. You need a great amount of air flow. The first couple I built I didn't get enough air flow through the cowl and they would run fine for 5 minutes or so and then start to load up and run rich. You have to really open the cowl up. On the front and especilly underneath. Here's a picture to kinda help.

Thanks for the cowl photos ... will do! Mac also sent me a lot of set up info. I'm feeling much better about getting the UCD together. I just work too much and I 'm slow at getting to the building. Oh well, I've got the winter .... Thanks!

Yeah.. But I did not take it this morning:-( With my cheapy home made balancer
it looks like the 6v goes right behind the canopy back... Was unsure how to attach,
tried foam but it just did not seem good enough... So I picked up some velcro, I
never felt safe with that also but.............. So it'll be in the a.m. to see the power
of the S-100/16x4W.... I think it'll be SwEEt... If the wings stay on

With the Mag back in my 4*, and the shop saying she's running sweet after having
it for 7 weeks... I sure had a lot of dead sticks(all 5 flts)... I just could not find the
sweet spot on the low end either too much or not enough[:@]... She almost did not
make it back on the last flt.... But just did....
