Barry,
What gear are your buddies using? I heard of problems w/ the CF bracing, but it seems that people used CA instead of Epoxy. I also looked at making my own bracing, I use the trick from the Sig SE kit, cheap, strong and easy, but the fin on the F90 doesn't have much "meat" to bolt it to. I did drill the openings for the CF a little deeper, the CF rod is plenty long and you would be suprised how far you can bend it in a "U" shape to get it in the holes. I have one of the elevator halves gap a little tighter than I like, kinda worried if it will fail from being too tight? The manual gives degrees of throw....so I have to find a protractor (?).

I think they were using Fiberlite landing gear. I know it was fiberglass. They were using fishline on the tail section. I know raideron has his UCD that way and I think gjieffers. Thanks

Barry, you have a knack for writing. Good job. Glad the weather cooperated so you could fly.
I was leaning again towards the YS. But I think I'm going to wait for the Saito 125 to come out. (I don't have a 100, just the 82 and 72) Since I have only Saitos I think I'll keep the trend going and get the 125 for the Mayhem. Should be a good combo.
For winter projects I have the OMP Edge profile kit to build and put my 72 on it. That's it for now. My wife's kind of funny about me having lots of planes. I think she looks at them as $ signs and wonders why I would need more than a couple.[X(] Can you imagine that?[:-] But then if I do have to have shoulder surgery she may have pitty on me and let me do some building....... I'll have to work on my "pathic, gimmped up, look"[:

I think most wifes are the same, mine looks at my planes and helis and see shoes and handbags, strange that.
I have just gone and replaced the stock landing gear on my UCD for the Graph Tech Composite one, shaved a couple of oz off, just gotta wait for the gale to calm down over here, see what it is like.

I bought the gear through TNT, here is their link:

Yep, there IS that much difference. 30% really makes the 4 stroke engines sing. Not that much difference on the 2 strokes. Not only more power but great/better transition also. Also, more oil content for better lube and engine life. A side benefit, you get better mileage so overall it doesn't cost as much more as you might think.thanks

Doug,
We are just north of Cranberry, 30% fuel is great.... my Saito 72 was a dog on my UCD 46 on Wild cat 15, switched to Curtis Youngbloood and it rocks... nice free smoke system too. Run it rich though. My UCD doesnt seem to like the wind associated with ski flying, use a Pheonix Models Sonic 25 w/ a AX 46!

Alright you've convinced me to try 30%. I have a 72, & 80 Saito. They could transition better & a few more RPMs couldn't hurt right? Why the 2-cycle instead of 4-cycle in the cold? Are they harder to start? Which reminds me. Have you had any luck removing the build-up on muffler & engine?
Evil Ditto on the wife visualization of unnecessary needs in a marriage. Landing gear looks interesting. Mine fell off in mid-air 2 weeks ago. Landed her like a helicopter. gotta love this plane.

30% runs hotter, make sure you have plenty of air exit area keep it rich too. I went from a 12.25 x 3.75 APC to a 14 x 4 on my 72 on the 30% and it still revs higher. Maybe I will try the UCD in the snow? The sonic can stay together in the car though, no field assembly helps keep the fingers warm, nothing to do with starting. My Saitos will start by priming them really wet (until you hear it slosh) the just flip the SPINNER cone backwards against compression and off they go, no stick no starter, nice shiny TruTurn spinner. Messy muffler? Maybe if I had the time, maybe the 30% will take it off. it eats everything, be careful!

I would run a couple of tanks on the ground and reset the hi/lo needles, digi tach is helpful too. check your plug, I run OS F's. The Wildcat Curtis Youngblood is $15 a gallon here at the LHS, reason is, it runs way too hot in heli engines, I have a Rappy 50 w/ an OS 50 Hyper, CY runs 20 deg hotter, not good. I still run Coolpower Heli in my Rap. That is why the CY is so cheap, if you wondered. Like I said, make sure you have great air flow and run rich.

15.00 a gallon? [X(] I have to pay 15.00 for 15% here.[>:] I think I'll try out a higher % though. It certainly couldn't hurt.
Yesterday when I was at the flying field the UPS guy came driving through the place. So I said to the guys "now if we could just get him to deliver our planes here our wives wouldn't find out." And if my wife did ask I could just say "some guy left it down at the field." [8D]

CeeGee Your a hoot.
Deliver at the field. Never priced 30% around here. Would be worth the extra money for that vertical stuff. Thanks guys.
MacDaddy Flip backwards?
Won't the engine start and run backwards?

DW, when you bounce a 4 stroker backwards it will throw the prop forward and it should fire off. You dont want to push it completely thru the compression when going backwards (clockwise), it takes a little practice, well primed and a broke in engine, but it works. I didnt believe it at first, but it works. I have been in the hobby for only 2 years and I have to say, it's not just the flyin', it's the people too. I read about people who fly by themselves or maybe a couple of guys, if I'm at our field and nobody is there, it's kinda boring....[
], nobody to talk about manuvers, share advice, laugh!, pick up pieces!, whatever. How about safety? I always put my cell phone on my belt if I'm by myself, just in case something would happen, especially when I fly my heli, they can do some damage.

yes Mac,as far as winter goes i do have better weather but nooootttt summer, im about 50 miles from death valley, although my altitude is about 1800 ft higher its still pretty hot!!!
im the only one flying here besides some 15 yr old kid who i never see and only get to fly with someone when my sons come over from las vegas about every 2 months, but im lk with being alone, it gives me plenty of practice without being interupted.
here is where i fly

You have nothing to run into but the sand (?)!
Finding 1 flat acre in PA is tough, and there are always trees, big ones, they sometimes grow 10' instantly just as your plane approaches them too!
check it;
