Hey Sturtz I will be out of town on the 24,25 and 26 June but I will be available on Mon and
Tues the 27th and 28th. We can do some flying for sure. Weather permiting of course.
Earlier in this forum I asked what I should use in my new ucando46, a 50SX or a Surpass 91.
The respose was use the 91. In the end I used neither. I was able to purchase a brand new OS
70 Ultimate for $200. Couldn't pass that up. Yesterday I maidened the ucando. 2 right clicks on
the ailerons it was in trim. cg set at 6 inchs back from leading edge. The ucando flys incredibly
well. Very stable on low rates. On hi rates it will do things I have never been able to do before.
Fun to drag the tail wheel several yards before the mains settle. I do have one problem however.
The 14/4 I am using with the OS 70 Ultimate kicks loose and I have to retighten it after every
flight. Anyone have any ideas as how to eliminate this problem? BTW, I have a slightly used
Funtana for sale cheap!

northwing. Have a question about the prop nut, is there 2 of them? If so, your engine is running too lean and is backfiring. That is what is causing the prop nut to loosen. A four stroke back firing like that can cause some damage to the engine and the prop and the spinner. Check you high speed and your low speed needles. How much for the funtana?

Goldenclan the engine is not running lean. The Ultimate 70 has an output bearing (the part that meets the rear of the spinner plate) that has a smooth surface with lightening holes drilled in it from the factory. It appears that this surface is too smooth. In the past, many years ago, when I had this problem with early 4 strokes, I glued 100 grit sandpaper on the front and back of a proper sized washer and placed it between the output bearing and the rear of the prop hub. That cured the problem. The OS 70 Ultimate is the latest 4 stroke technology. It just seems I shouldn't have to resort to this sort of rinkydink fix. I do have 2 prop nuts on the engine.
I want $80 bucks for the Funtana. When I made my first landing with it the landing gear collapsed and the wheel pants went all the way through the wing and punctured the top and bottom. I patched it with Scotch magic mending tape. It worked fine but patch sticks out like a sore thumb on the rite wing. Freight costs may not make it a good deal however. Local pickup may be the better way.

is that 100 in this one Barry? if so remember 9-10 min flights only(just 9 for you to be safe) now how are you gonna keep track of it?[X(]
Ron, do you have a big round runway? that would be nice
Golden, you will love the 45deg, especially on the inverted flatspins, also make that rudder go all the way!
my bro and sis inlaw live in hutch, but they go fishing all the time[:'(] good luck with the new settings

Well, here are some pics of my UCD. It has been stripped of its uglyness ( stripes or swirls or swishes, whetever they are) It has an OS 70 Surpass swinging a 13x4. Vertical is unlimited. Has flaps and slight spoilerons programmed on a 9c. I am running standard servos on a 2 cell L-Ion pack sans regulator. Its an experiment for the nay sayers. Its also my second, the first was totalled the end of last season when I tried a very short full flaps take-off into a very high head wind. This plane definatley will get you feeling your oats and will bite you when you feel over confident LOL. Being a warbird guy, I had to customize the cowl a bit as was done on my first as well. Still need to finish the flag scheme on the upper wing. Photos courtesy of Jim O. Thanks Jim.

Warbird, That is too cool.....[8D] I think I'll do that to mine. I thought about that a while back but wasn't sure if I could get them all off without wrecking something. I never was a fan of the swishes. I like the ones on the 60 but the ones on the 46 look like Ronald McDonald should be driving.
Gjeffers, Glad you're back....... Send some more inverted pictures [X(] if you get a chance. [8D]

Warbird, Nice looking plane. That makes it look a lot different and more "starke" I like it but I like the original color scheme as well, make me want to eat a hamburger.Nice.
thanks,
Barry

Good work on your UCD Warbird Fanatic, I like the cowl:-) But I couldn't do
anything like that on mine... It would not be enough air:-(.. Heck with my
cowl off it's not enough air around here this time of year... I like the UCD's
design... I think what makes it look........ Well can't say the "U"... Lets just
say funny... is the short nose with the longer tail... But she makes up for
it in other ways:-)

My new clipped wing UCD.46 !! LOL
Three of us parked in the pits Sat afternoon. Two of us had a UCD along. One of my buddies got a tad excited with the throttle while on taxi back to the pit area. Luckily the other friend had a brand new wing to give me while the friend who did the wing surgery for me simply ordered him another one to replace it. (Back ordered at Tower) I'll be back up before the weekend.
Should have seen those two UCDs joined like that. Didn't hurt the other Do one bit.

Hey Raideron,
Well I finally made it to the hobby shop & picked up some hitech 635's for the wing. I've been running 6V so we'll see how these bad boys hold up. The wind is down today, and no showers expected- sooooo maybe when all the honey do's are done-its off to the field.
Gotta go get these do's done, so see ya........SPUDs out

Sturtz... I always thought if you wanted to clip the wing you only
had to do the outside.... Never thought of doing both sides...
Well glad you got another wing... Maybe next time let your buddy
get up first...
SPUD37... They will work great.. I get more than I need with the
gear I have...
Barry.. Great pics.... Nice job on the Mayhem... That flight pack
will almost rip your surfaces off I bet... Do you run a lot of the
56 series from hitec?? Have they been good to you???

Hey Barry,
Yeah let us all know where you got the tail wheel. Is it that one from MK ?
Hey Raideron,
Went out today and flew around. Your right those servos are great. With the3004's my ail used to vibrate, with these they're very solid. Great control, and just plain feel smooth. I'm a convert.[:@]
Todays flights with the new 635's in the wing was great. Nice flat inverted, almost to landing, but I chickened out. Then some upright spins, played with the ail till the thing flattened out with a very slow descent. Tried some more hovering, still around 10 or so sec.. I like the way it just starts to drift with the wind. Then came the landings. About 8 of them in the second flight, just kept landing, taxi, take=off, land, etc........great fun with those.
Didn't get many of the honey-does done so I guess tomarrow will have to do.[
] But then again, I did tell the wife she has to see this thing fly, so who knows? Maybe tomarrow might be a good day for that.[sm=lol.gif]
Hey guys click on the tuna boat[huey] its animated.

Got to get some airtime in today!!!!! Flew the monocoupe for the first time. Scared the holy s**t out of me. Need to move the cg forward a 1/2 and check the side to side balance. The Ucando went crazy today and I loved it!!!!!!! inside loops, outside loops, hairriers, hovers, inverted, snap rolls and some stuff that looked cool, but I don't know what to call them!!!! And I even tried a water fall, but I chicked out after the first flip. Going out tomorrow also!!! About the hitecs, I am using the 5645 on my cap 232 1/4 scale. That is going up wendsday?? I'll say it again, I love this plane!!!!!!!!!!

I did hover for a few seconds 5 to 10 at a time. I think that I am going to move the cg to 6 inches and try some more hovering tomorrow. Boy with the new servo horns on the elevators, it seems like I can go from horizontal to vertical in a blink of an eye!
