Hello All! Does anyone have a traced out wing rib profile that they can e-mail me? UCD had a fight with a tree and lost. My fault. Busted fusealage into and busted the two center ribs. Would be easier to fix if I had the rib shape upfront.

I'm thinking of ordering a brand new Do from that web site that Gary posted a ways back. Best deal around. I'm just not sure what flying I'll be able to get in. The new club I've been trying to get into to is becoming a pain in the butt. I was there yesterday as a guest and the range safety officer showed up and gave us a hard time. Too much to explain but this whole mess of loosing a flying field and trying to find another is really getting me depressed and disillusioned. [&o] I think I just need a good day of flying, maybe build a new plane, a nice inverted low pass, something. Maybe I need to see a hobby shrink. Hmmmmm...... No, that could be construed as a Monokote salesman. [:-] Somethings gotta get better.

Man thats really stinkey Rob, i kinda know how ya feel, once i had a dream that the guys at the county yard here went and dumped a load of asphalt right in the middle of the mixing strip i fly at (they kinda own the strip) and man was i sweating
then wne day last week i talked to them while they were getting their dump truck loaded up(they do have asphalt there at the end of the strip) and they assured me they wouldnt do that and man now i feel better

Yeah it is bad. It's really causing some concern. It was really, really, good this spring. I had been asked to be an instructor and the flying was really getting fun. There were lots of new guys showing up at the field and it was fun. We even had the biggest fly-in I had ever been to in June. Then from someones bad judgement the whole field is now shut down and we still don't know if it will ever open again and at the only other close field around some of the guys there seem to act like they don't want us there. ARRRGGGGHHHHH!! [&o]

Thanks Rob
I e-mailed my address to you. A wing rib that I can copy without have to tear my wing apart for would be great.
That's terrible about your field. Or field is only 4 miles from my house. The next closest one is 15 miles. That would kill me to have to drive further.

Wow, what a fly in!!! Unbelievable numbers of planes and pilots and an unbelievable amount of sun and heat!! There was even a UCD 60 there! I have some great pics to share if you guys are interested in what we have going on here in Tulsa.
Speaking of pics, I bought a camera from Sears last week that was in their "floor model" showcase, an Olympus FE-110 5 megapixel camera. It was as is, no accessories, no book just a Sears bag and a reciept! ($84, not bad for a $300 list and since I had broken my old $200 camera while filming motorcycle races I decided to spend as little as possible and get as much out of them as I could) Well, after finding out that I needed the included software CD to be able to update the camera's firmware and the USB cable was different from the two I already owned, I started wondering who got the good deal!! It takes good pictures but I can't get them into my computer. So I put on my "really nice old guy" avatar today and sweet talked a clerk into looking into the closet where they put the stuff from the floor models and VOILA! he found everything that this thing came with, including an XD ram memory card and all the software, video cable, USB cable, paperwork, straps and the warranty card!! I WIN the lottery. Ah, those small victories make the war so much easier to fight. Anyway, I will be able to get some pictures for the thread now. But at 5 MP I will have to shrink some stuff down to within reasonable download size, these nice pictures are HUGE files. Just what I need, more work! I just lost some of that gained ground already!

I hope you get your field delima worked out in your favor. Have you considered flying at a school. Around here, some people do that. Just a thought.
Thanks

Hello all,
Ordered one of these yesterday and I suppose I should have checked this forum first. I ordered the .46 AX and some 12 x 4 props thinking it would power this plane nicely. Should I return the engine to Tower when it arrives or try moving everything as far forward as possible and give it a try. I have always flew scale and funflys and would like to try a little 3d for a change. One other option I may have. I have noticed that some guys are severly overpowering the plane with .75 two strokes and .90FS. I do have a new ST G-90, would that be to much with say a 14 x 4W prop and some throttle management. I would like to learn to hover and have the power to pull out of hover if needed however I do not want to pull the plane in half or break the tail section off. Let me know what you guys think, this thread is way to long for a working guy to read. Thanks for any suggestions in advance. I will be sure to check here in the future when buying airplanes, I find it hard to believe that a plane that is listed as a .32 to ..46 two stroke or .52 to .70FS is having to be over powered so much. GP should change their adds with this plane.

BradSD...You'll be disappointed with the 46. Your STG-90 would power the plane pretty good.
The plane will fly with a 46 but I don't think it will hover. It certainly won't at my elevation. Even though you put the bigger engine on you won't actually be overpowered. You'll be about right. But you will have to exercise throttle management. This plane does not want to fly fast. I think that is why Great Planes states a smaller engine size. They don't want the plane overspeeded. Just don't go full throttle on the level or down lines.
You'll love the plane and the forum. Welcome!
Thanks
Barry

Barrys right on Brad, this plane is really a 60 size plane in a 46 size box
put the st on it and just us a 4 pitch and youll be happy, and i mean happy. and when you get the extra bucks you will want to buy a saito 82 for it, which is overwhelmingly the engine of choice for this plane, i have a saito 100 in mine and its not overpowered, its overly exciting[X(]
when you have any more questions just ask and all of us here on the ucd thread will be glad to help
