U-Can-Do 3d 46?
#2077
thanks Ron, the reason i brought all that up was i ordered a h9 11oz tank and it came today so i took the old stock tank out and was getting the new tank tready and noticed that the new tank didnt look any bigger at all, so i took them both out to the garage and filled the stock tank with fuel and then transfered it to the new tanki and it was exactly the same(filled it), so im leaving the stock tank in because of the downset of the stock tank i believe it helps to keep it from flooding, so i guess 9 min fly time will have to do for now.
wait [sm=idea.gif], maybe Barry can sew an extension on it, i know he can

Well that's not good... All that work for nothing.... I'd call H9 and
ask the question.... Now lets see........... It could be good and bad
so now remember..... if you want the good... Get the 8oz tank and
not the 11oz and save a few cents:-).....Or....

gjeffers, Something is wrong with your tank. Also my info was wrong on conversion. I should have stayed awake a little longer in class. But here is a link to convert cc to oz. www.onlineconversion.com/volumn.htmAt that website it says that one ounce is equal to 29.5735297 CC. I thought it was 28.4 CC. But anyway, using this formula 270/29.5735297 your stock tank would be 9.1 ounces. My H9 tank says 11 oz right on it. and it does hold a little bit more than the stock tank. Sounds like the H9 tank isn't 11 ounces for some reason. Send it to me and I will do a little add on.
Thanks.

Alright, i see a couple of us are on here right now.
I am building mine, even though it looks like rain tomorrow morning.
I am trying to get the front throttle conrtol rod in and I dont get it. There is no place for the control rod to go to get around the fuel tank. the fuel tank fits fine, but once i put the control rod in, the fuel tank doesnt fit right anymore cause the control rod is in the way. I looked through the instructions and didnt see a suggestion. Maybe i am missing something.

sctcrash.......you will have to bend and twist and finiggle it as it comes out of the firewallin it's intended place the manual states. It took me about three wires and two hours to get it right to where it wouldent bind up any. Of course this is on a saito engine but any 4 stroke may be similar. Good luck!

crash, you may have to reverse the carb to get the best route, mine comes out on the right side (passenger) just beside the tank and right to the throttle arm, its close but it works good!

its an os 46 ax
the throttle is in a similar position to the pix, it just doesnt move very freely that way.
I think i may have to go with trial and error like kokamo

Barry.....Raid..... that brown stuff is called "grass"......you know......that stuff that grows out of the ground when you have dirt and rain at the same time? Oh Raid, I forgot, you live in the desert!
And Barry, you still got snow?[sm=confused.gif]
Seriously, our feild gets trimmed up every week by a local yard service guy. It also has a sprinkler system that comes on every night to water the feild. I really dont think it gets the water all the way out onto the feild tho. Looks pretty good throughout the year.

Crash I had to run a throttle cable (Sullivan I think) just fished the plastic through the holes then the cable ..connected them at either end ..I would prefer a rod though ..so if you have the patience (like koko=see shiny muffler) then go for it!

gjeffers. This tank deal is making me mad. I couldn't stand it so I tore the 11 oz (325CC) tank out of my UCD and compared it to the 270 CC (9 oz) stock tank. Guess what?!?!?! Mine are the same size too. All this time I been thinking I'm flying with 11 oz and find out it's only 9. Now I got to cut down my run times. What gives? Somehow I feel like I've been cheated. Makes me want to take up surfing. And I do have an old board that I've repaired. (epoxy and fishing leader) Well, for now I'm going out and fly. Thanks,
Barry

Crash, I had to use an xactao knife to whittle/cut away a small amount of wood to allow for the plastic tubing to fit. It is tight. But I have an oversized 11 oz fuel tank. Anyways, I've gone to a Syluvan flexible tubing and cable throttle linkage. They are really cool, light, and will flex around all the corners/bends etc. I also like the way the allen set screw tightens against the cable better than a rod. But be sure an anchor/glue/sew the tubing near the throttle linkage and servo arm or you'll get a little flex which can cause delay throttle spool up. thankds.\

Are any of you guys thinking about the Giant UCD? I keep looking at it and I'm thinking it just too big for me. I don't have any engines that would fly it. But I'm intrigued. And I love that pink color. Thanks,
Barry

Dammit, i didnt finish last night. I still had to figure out my throttle cable, remount the motor, mount the canopy, trim and balance. At 2 i decided to sleep. I dont know if i will get to fly it till next saturday now, gonna be a long week. I like another set of eyes on it before i maiden.
My first Somethin Extra lasted about 30 seconds due to some aileron reversing, so i am still weary of going solo on the maiden. Right now i am in a new small club so I only really see others at the field on Saturday.
And then their is the matter of the drill hole in my hand. A little mishap making a ply block for the fuel filler valve. Ouch.

Hey Kokomo, Just a little belated congrats on the maiden flight. CG at 5.5 feels great ounce you get used to it. Again congrats.
Hey CeeGee, If it flies its great. Like someone said this is our thread. So let us know how that twist flies. I was thinking of getting one for a second 3D'er.
Working today, no flying, but then again this is how we support our addiction.
SPUD's out.

Hey Barry, I was looking at the giant u-can-do, love everything about it but the pink. It should fly about the same as the others just bigger. I am either going to get the seagull harrier or the 60 size ucando. But I still have to maiden my 1/5 scale monocoupe, and 1/4 scale cap 232. Both of them are made by kangke. My cap has the os 1.60fx in it and it is a power house!!!!!!!! While I was breaking in the engine for it. I was adjusting the low speed by doing the nose up and nose down thing, and with the 18x6 on it, if I would have let go of it, my wife would have had her hands full with her first flight of an airplane!!!! As for that damm girlie pink giant ucando, It would be like putting a 1.20 in a 46 size IMHO.

My UCANDO is here!!
So now i have a few more questions.
Should I:
1. Get a 90 oz Servo no matter what i have to do.
2. Put 2 3003s on the elevator and use 1 of the 3004s for the rudder.
3. Put a 3003 on the rudder (I am really just going to be sport flying it for now).
4. Any combination, but get a 6.0 V battery to get more torque.

All three UCD's in the picture below use Futaba S3004 servos, that's 18 servos. I was not inclined to over spend for that many servos. Futaba doesn't overrate their servos and the S3004's work very well on these slow planes. They can do knife edge loops, blenders, etc. Keep in mind that the rudder has aerodynamic counter balance and the elevators have an even greater percentage of counter balance which takes some of the load off the servos.

I did cycle it the best I could. I turned it on and left it on until it was competly dead, then I charged it back up the normal way with the wall charger. I have done this several times and it usually lasts for 4 or 5 hours at the feild. Again, I may have switched it on when I put it in the flight box or it just may be time for a new one. .....

Flew today at the Shelly fun fly. It was raining like crazy. I few my recently repaired UCD60. It was my maiden since crash. It flew pretty good but I've got the weight to far back. I'm gonna haft to move my battery forward a little bit. But it felt good to fly her. It was windy and rainy and my first time flying off of a paved runway. On landing I thought, ok I'll set her down on the grass beside the pavement, then on approach I said, _____ no I'm setting her down right in the middle of the paved runway which is what I did. Squated the gear just a tiny bit but overall it was a great landing. Made me nervous though. Have any of you guys tried a throttle to aileron mix in your radio? It's pretty cool. Oh and don't mis understand, I don't mix it for myself it's for the newcomer who doesn't know how to set up his radio. Makes for a great display of flymanship. Anyway, had a good day in spite of the weather. The UCD made my proud.
Thanks,
Barry

Ok guys, I have an offer to you all. I would like to offer this to you guys first since you all have been so nice to me.
I have a spare UCD46 wing availible to sell to someone if anyone wants it. It has no servos in it and has one small tear in the covering real close to the fuse. It aslo has pinned hinges pinned with toothpicks and CA glue.
LEMMIE KNOW!!! Just like E-bay, it goes to the high bidder. If no one wants it here, it will go on e-bay. Make an offer, Also think about shipping
I'll post pix if anyone is interested.
LATERS!
