Thanks for all info with the LG fix. I was really surprised how easily it popped off. It seemed like the LG didn't even break the fall - it just slammed straight down onto the belly! I love it when a fix involves an excessive amount of epoxy! Hope to have it fixed tomorrow morning and airborne tomorrow afternoon.
Thanks again,

JT. I see you found us. Welcome. You will have a blast with the UCD. They are great airplanes. This is a great thread too. The guys here are first class, honest, fun, clever, unique, all over the map, and have at least one thing in common. We fly UCDs. Hope you have a good stay. Thanks,
Barry

Darned wind............ I didn't get to fly my UCD yesterday due to excessive wind. I ended up flying my U.Stick all day and ended up with a dead stick. It came in short of the runway, into some tall grass. [X(] When I went to start it back up I found that the glow plug had burned out causing the dead stick [:-] so I changed it out and got ready to go up again. Well I blasted down the runway and got up about 20 ft. and it dead sticked again. [>:] This time it came in kind of hard and snapped the fuse in half. [&o] On looking it over I found that the fuel clunk had apparently jammed forward from the first crash and it caused the second fuse destroying crash. Rats!! Now I gotta come up with a new fuse.............or plane, or something.......[:@] Talk about wing wong..........

Dang its gonna take me a week to read all the post! LOL. Anyway, where can I find a Cline regulator. I checked Tower ,no luck. By the way I had posted a this question on another forum, so here it is
I just got my UCD 60 and I'm about ready to assemble. I know I want to put in a Saito 100 as alot of you guys on have in the past. Seems like a great setup. Anyway, could you point me in the right direction on prop choice? Was thinking maybe a 15x4 or a 16x4. Also, is there any mods I should do to the UCD since I'm getting ready to assemble, nows the time to do it.
I like the idea of just looping the fuel line to stop the excess of the fuel as Barry said. But have any of you guys with the UCD 60 and the Saito 100 had any problems with the low end, as in cutting out at idol. I dont need any low level deadsticks on the maiden. Let me know whats the best route to go with the Saito 100. Thanks, JT

CeeGee... Sorry about your wing wong:-(..... I had that happen to
me once(clunk stuck foward of tank) So I now shake the plane
slightly before putting it on the table and listen to the clunk sliding
around... More so after a mishap... I now use a piece of brass tubing
between the tank inlet and the clunk so the line cannot move forward.
Great Day at the field:-))))) Made even better, by not touching the tail..
I may fly again tomorrow.... But the wind may stop me.....
Have a Great Holiday Weekend People!!!

CEEGEE. Sorry!!!! The Ultra Sticks are right there with the UCDs. I love them. I had the same thing with a clunk. What Raideron said. Works. Went flying today, first time since I was in the box. Fly a lot. Well, at least for me. UCD46 still not ready. Had to make DO with 60. Didn't quite tail touch but did get to within 10' of ground. Was able to hover good. Very still. That's fun. Flew 8 - 13 minute flights. Weather was almost perfect 75-80 and zero wind. Almost didn't know what to do. Anyways, had a great day. No crashes and lots of fun. Will fly again on Monday. Looking forward to it. Maybe even have 46 ready. I'm that close. Have a great Memorial Day weekend and drive safe. Thanks,
Barry

Aaaahhh, this week was the best day yet this year. Well atleast since I got the UCD. Man I love this plane. And man do I need MORE POWER!!! I also need to start moving the CG back a bit. After the inverted mishap with the Somethin Extra i needed to build my confidence back up.
With the 46 ax and where i have the cg i can get it to hover, but not as longs as i like, and i dont have the pull out power i need. I tried a low hover today and it almost caused a tail first vertical landing.
A guy at the field maidened his Fokker triplane today. He built it from a kit, not sure what kind, but he did a great job. He was as white as a sheet before he got it in the air.
Ahh, gotta love great days at the field.

Thanks guys for all the condolences. Gjeffers, that "fuse abuse" line still has me laughing.
That U.Stick is just my trainer plane in a sence now. If I can't get out there 3 times a week I just want to have something that I don't have much into. I'm thinking I'll just order a new fuse, graft the tail feathers in, and be set to go. Does anyone know of any hobby shops on line that take Paypal? I've got a ton of money in Paypal from some auction sales. It's burning a hole in my computer..... I mean, walet.
I'm not sure if I should repair the U. Stick or not. I'm also thinking of just getting a new knock around plane. Any suggestions??

I burn most of my PayPal funds on ebay, or just transfer them to my regular account. But for some reason I feel better about spending PayPal money, its like it was just never there.
I didnt know if you had a 40 or 60 but i was on ebay looking for an Avistar wing and took a look, saw a 60 fuse in Ebay Stores:

sctcrash, I know what you mean about spending Paypal bucks. It's the extreme mad money. [X(] Thanks for passing on the tip about the fuse, mine is a 40 though. Horizon has the 40 fuses for about 36 bucks. Maybe I'll order one from them. But then if I find a good deal on a whole airplane I like...............[:-] It can get too windy to fly the UCD or the Twist at the flying field where I go to so I just need a cheapie to fly around with and keep in shape........

CeeGee. Not really a knock around plane, but, my Ultra Stick Lite with the 110 in it is a great plane. It is super in the wind. It weighs nine pounds even and will not really do 3D but will hover, unlimited vertical, great upright flat spin, and it handles the wind super. It's the plane I always fly when its windy. You already know how easy they are to fly. Not a bad consideration. The way I have mine set up, everything new, would be about $750. Another engine consideration, one you could actually get, would be a Saito 150. The larger plane, although a hassle to haul, is great in less than perfect conditions. And with spoilerons, WHOA!!!!!Thanks,
Barry

Hey Barry, Thanks for the info. Well the U.Stick Lite is too big for me. It's quite an impressive plane though. I had never seen one untill recently one of the guys at the field brought one down to fly. Man that's a big plane!! [X(] No problem at all spotting that one in the air. I think he has a 120 on his.

raideron - I wanted to try and get lucky and see if I can pick one up for around $30. I think the fact that they sell them new at Tower for $75 is crazy. I can buy a whole new one on their site for $100. What a rip!!! Although I do love tower prices and coupons.
Last year i hit our wind sock pole, it ripped the last foot off my wing, The rest of the wing unwound like a mummy on scooby doo as it spun to the ground. The tail section of my fuse broke off, but it was an easy fix. By the time i was done gluing and reinforcing the broken wing half I needed like three ounces of weight on the other wing tip. That much weight on the wing tip caused some pretty crazy flight characteritics. Right now i just have the U Can do so i may just spring for a new one.
Actually I think the Avistar is kind of like the Ultra Sick 40 in design. A guy at my field has one and let me fly it. I think the Avi has just a little more dihedral and the wing is a little higher. Its a really fun easy plane to fly.

Hey Cee Gee,
If you want an easy to transport, great flying plane, try the GP Cap 580. It tracks great, and does all the IMAC maneuvers. It isn't a 3D plane, just a great flying plane. Mine came out at 5.75 lbs & with my OS 70 in it, I have great vertical, & pull through all the other loops, rolls, & bumps I can think up. Just a thought.
See ya, Shawn

Hey Spud, That's an outstanding idea......[8D] I just happen to have a spare OS 70 just sitting around....... I'll look into that.
Is that the Matt Chapman Cap? I just saw a Worlds Models Cap advertized on RCU just yesterday. Can't think now who was selling it. It looked like it was red and green. Anyway, thanks again.
