Raid glad to hear it's been going well, I've been flying only my profile for the last few times to the field..so easy to get to the field and get home eh? Starting building the boxxer last week...all done but the top wing
Did get the UCD out mid of last week for some fun, need to get a better throttle setup on it for more accurate response, have the stuff just need some fixing room ...wax paper and plans in the way ..

hockeyrules99.. Yeah the profiles are great for just getting there
and up:-)... Well, not so much for me.... No truck:-( and with the
UCD and the profile it's a tight squeeze... But it was a ball... on the
first flight I only needed two clicks up and one click Lt. ail... It was
a bit touchy... with full throws on hi rates and the rearward sug.
CG... I did a few circuits then went wild:-).. It'll hover eaiser that
the UCD:-) once I get more time on the engine I think this will be
the first plane I'll touch the tail with:-))))))))... Hope I don't go...
YEAH...... Oh Sh_t[:-] You all have fun!!!... Be Safe... Have to hit
the sack... gotta be up by 4 so I can be at the field at sunup... It's
getting "HOTTTTTTT here [sm=sunsmiley.gif] early....

I was finally able to run a few tanks through my new engine today. There weather here has been so crappy the past couple of weeks. I ran 4 tanks through a never-run 91 and still had enough daylight for a quick flight. I was so busy messing with the idle position that I forgot to setup my throttle kill. After I landed, I taxied over to my stuff, and realized that I couldn't shut her down. I ended up coasting into a bag of mine. The prop was slightly damaged. If only there was someone who could fix props...

Raideron, Yeah, I use quite a few 5625 and 5645 HiTec servos. I like them. And I bought a few when they were on sale at Tower. I think I got them down to about $43 with the discounts and that includes freight. I run the 5645 on the rudder of all 4 of my planes and the 5625 on the elevators. I use 625 or 645 on the Ailerons. On the latest 46 I'm using some Futaba 9001s on the ailerons. I'm a little nervous about them but I wanted to use them somewhere and that seems like the best spot. They have 54 oz torque but they are plastic gears. I'm a little worried but I'm gonna try them and be careful. The tail wheel is pretty cool eh? I got it from Central Hobbies. It's for the 8 to 12 lbs planes. After I break the rudder a few times, (not tail touching) I replace the tailwheel with one of these. They are very easy to install and work good except they don't steer nearly as well as the stock unit. But doesn't put as much thrust on the rudder.
Good to have you back jgeffiers. Did you catch any fish?
The new Do is coming along nicely. I'm mounting the rudder and elevator tonight. Engine and tail servos tomorrow. Fly by the weekend hopefully. Can't wait to get the little Do up. I love those planes.
Thanks,
Barry

CeeGee, where ya moving? Got a field? Weather? Sorry you're not flying, me either, until I get the little Do done. Maybe Saturday. Mayhem is fun, I was just showing off my repair at the field. Some of the older club guys like to see the repair work. I think they like that better than flying. Thanks,
Barry

Raideron, Nice profile!!!! Is that fun to fly? One of our club members has a profile 40 size and it is truly crazy to see that thing flip, turn, hover, etc. But it seems real jumpy, (from my watching, not flying) but man will it stir the sky. I've been thinking about one but I have enough planes, especially with the two I have on order. Now, if I could just crash one or two somehow that would allow me to purchase another!?!?!?!!? The profiles fly good, I'm told, but I don't like the looks very well, but that one of yours looks pretty nice. Thanks,
Barry

CeeGee... Just trying to stay cool... But AZ makes that VERY tough:-)
It's a Kangke SU-26 3DARF... It's listed for $150 on their site, But I
got it off of ebay for $65 NIB... I also got the YS63 off of ebay.. It
said less than 1/4 gallon of fuel through it.. And it looked it..
Watched the sun come up at the field today had the UCD and profile..
UCD is pissed it's the second time it stayed in the trunk:-(... I got
8 flights on the profile, than I had to leave.. Was getting too wet:-(
Barry.. It's fun to fly... It is very touchy, I started with everything I
could get on high rates and rearward CG... I since have added about
70%/50% expo on Elev./Ail. and 50% low rates.. I might put some
mix on the Rud/ail.. just for the K.E. loops, it'll roll out finishing the
first loop going into the second:-))))))))))))) That's a first for me...
In just the K.E. very little needed to keep stright... Hey!!!!!!!
I got another first today:-)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
I touched my tail.... No not that one:-)) I almost got the stab. too:-(
But the YS just yanked it up when needed:-))))).. It was Great tho..
Seeing all the dust, seeing and hearing the rudder sliding on the
ground... MAN I love it!!!!!! Talk about a BIG smile
I need to
work in more Rt. thrust.. Think it has too much torque for it:-)) I
also got in a 4 tumble water fall before the YS rolled me out of it...
Same here, I hated the looks, But wanted a E.F. 540 to practice tail
touching and for fun flies but got tired of waiting and found this deal
.. A fellow member is(I think) going to give me his E.F. 540 but it needs
some work.... Once you get use to the it, it's pretty good, funny tho the
UCD needs less "up stick" inverted than the Profile and also floats
better at low speed/landings....
I started to order the 5645/25 when Tower had the sale but ended up
not getting them.. Plus the little "neg" I was hearing about them.. But
the one member at the field has had no problems, reason I asked you.
Yea... Hard to beat at $43... Hopefully it'll happen again... If my money
holds out I'm looking again at that plane your waiting for....
v_twin1k... I like your pilot... I'm sure someone could thread your prop
Sorry for the long post................ [sm=bananahead.gif] I'm pumped!! [sm=spinnyeyes.gif]

Raideron, Thanks for the info on your profile plane. There is a guy at our field that has a type of profile that's purple. It looks cool but I don't know which one it is.

Hey Gary:-)... Yeah you gotta love the desert heat.... Makes it worth
getting at the field to watch the sun come up:-) 104..... When I got
home at about 9:30am it was over 105... I think it topped off over
114.... And I don't care what the weather man say's... I think their
just trying to not scare anyone from coming to Laughin:-))))) Yeah
it is not Summer yet...
Here you all want some fish... No I did not catch them, the Pops
got them today... I may be going with him tho... I was starting to
think the river had only the smaller ones...

Nice fish raideron. Yep, gjeffers, I'm totally sold on big engines. This is my fist four stroke, and I'm never going back...well, unless I want to get back into something really fast.
Does anyone have any experience with floats? I'm putting a set on a trainer I have and am still shopping around for the best pair. Thanks for any info.

Well I added more Rt. thrust... If the wind is nice, I'll see if that did it,,
But I going to share time with both planes.... I think:-)

Thanks Barry,
This will be my first set of floats. I'm looking to put them on a Nexstar with a OS 46 fx in it. I've been reading through other posts, and it looks like there are pros and cons to both prebuilts and kits. It also looks like the length and width of the float needs to be considered. Ultimately, I'm looking to get into something that will be quick and easy to build, and relatively easy to switch back to the wheeled gear. Is there a specific set that you can recommend? I would like to avoid something that is going to take hours and hours to build. What else should I factor into consideration when I make the decision?
Thanks for your advice,
v_twin

I got the new wing on and flew yesterday. All is now back to normal in the world of 3/D.
One thing though.......... landing anything else is a job. Is this not the best plane in your hanger for slow, easy landings ?
Took a small Extra300 along with me yesterday. Landing it compared to the UCD is like comparing biplanes to jets.
I think the diehards that dislike this plane without ever owning one would change their minds if they could fly one for a full day.
Talk about the ultimate 3/D trainer. Well,,, maybe flat profile electrics are easier to hover.

Barry... It's very true about narrow minded and profiles, There so ugly you
have to be that way.... The only way that's right is my way[:-]
Five more tail touches today:-))))) I almost bit the dust on the last one:-(..
Got a little toooooooooooooo easy on the sticks and man did it push the
rudder over, But I failed to read that the wing was also falling slowly towards
me too.. and when I did see it I had to make a bigger "push" correction
and when I did that the plane went into a sort of upright harrier with the
right wing dipping down low so I throttled up and pulled the stick and the
plane did two harrier spins with the Rt. wing tip about 2" off the deck:-(
before it pulled out..... :-) Came around and landed, But that %$!^&*
cheap L.G. hit a dip and the plane nosed over breaking my wooden prop
end of day after 6 flights:-(... Well for it, (My Rt. thrust addition almost did
the trick, But I need a bit more) But got four flts. on the UCD, before I
called it a morning.... Flying it reminded how easy she does most all things!!
But I have to give the profile the edge on K.E.'s, K.E. loops and hovering
have to be that way.... The only way that's right is my way[:-]
